Zhu Zhuqing snapped into action, slamming her paw down on the Ghost Tiger's head with a sharp crack. However, there was no gruesome scene of blood and gore. Instead, the soul ring floating above the Ghost Tiger indicated that Zhu Zhuqing had effectively ended its life with that single strike.
Witnessing this, even Tang San and the others couldn't help but gulp nervously.
Is Shrek Academy some kind of factory for tough women?" someone muttered under their breath.
Standing at the back, Ma Hongjun whispered to Oscar, "Zhuqing is like this, Rongrong is like this, Xiaowu too, and even Teacher Liu Erlong... They're all so fierce."
"Saber isn't like that," Oscar replied after a moment of thought.
"That's an exception, okay?" Ma Hongjun rolled his eyes. "Have you ever seen her treat anyone else the way she treats Xiao Tianyang?"
"Uh, now that you mention it, I guess not," Oscar said, scratching his head. "I don't get many chances to talk to her, so I wouldn't know."
"That just proves my point," Ma Hongjun clapped his hands. "It shows she only has eyes for Tianyang. And have you ever seen her go easy on us during sparring?"
Oscar fell silent.
Their conversation went unnoticed, as more and more soul beasts began to gather around them. Tang San quickly moved to the periphery and said in a serious tone, "Next, we need to choose a soul beast for Rongrong."
Ning Rongrong added, "I don't have any specific requirements, but the age of the soul beast should be as high as possible. After consuming Tianyang's dishes and the herbs he provided, my physical fitness has peaked. I want to push my limits."
"No problem," Tang San nodded, then fell into deep thought. "Your first soul skill boosts attack, your second enhances agility, and your third increases soul power. So, for your fourth soul skill, it's best to focus on defense."
After a moment, his purple eyes scanned the surroundings and locked onto a particular soul beast. "Look at that one," Tang San pointed. "That's a Scale-armored Beast. Even among all the soul beasts, it ranks within the top hundred in terms of strength. And this one is a mutated Scale-armored Beast, which makes it even more valuable. Its age is just right, at the limit of what you can handle."
Ning Rongrong nodded without hesitation. When it came to knowledge about soul beasts, Tang San had inherited everything from his master, the Grandmaster. She trusted his judgment.
"Brother Dai, it's your turn," Tang San said, turning to Dai Mubai. "Remember, aim for the scale three centimeters below its thin neck. That's its vital point."
"Wouldn't that just kill it instantly?" Dai Mubai raised an eyebrow.
"Not necessarily," Tang San shook his head. "At most, it'll weaken its resistance. That's all."
"Got it," Dai Mubai nodded, then began to mimic Tang San's earlier aiming movements. "Watch me as soon as I get into my soul!"
This line revealed that Dai Mubai had clearly been influenced by some questionable books.
The Flying God's Claw shot out, but as it neared the Scale-armored Beast, it suddenly veered off course and latched onto a completely different soul beast.
Everyone stared in stunned silence.
Ma Hongjun couldn't help but comment, "Boss Dai, could your aim be any worse?"
Dai Mubai's mouth twitched, and he shot Ma Hongjun a glare. "Why don't you give it a try?"
"Forget it, my little body isn't as sturdy as yours," Ma Hongjun replied, patting his stomach nervously.
"This thing is harder to use than I thought," Dai Mubai muttered, rolling up his sleeves. "This time, I'll succeed!"
"Boss Dai, it's best not to set a target before making a move. Otherwise, you might end up hitting something completely different," Oscar advised.
Dai Mubai nearly stumbled at those words. However, he quickly adjusted his emotions and began aiming again. Unfortunately, his aim seemed to be consistently off. Each time, the iron claws would narrowly miss the Scale-armored Beast and latch onto another soul beast instead.
After several failed attempts, even the Scale-armored Beast seemed to grow impatient.
Tang San finally intervened, "Brother Dai, maybe it's better if I take over."
"No, give me one more chance. I have a feeling I'll succeed this time!" Dai Mubai insisted, his voice low with determination.
"Boss Dai, we don't have much time," Ma Hongjun said, unusually serious. "If it weren't for Edward, I'd let you practice all you want, even for three days and three nights. But what if that guy suddenly shows up and ruins everything?"
His words struck a chord with everyone. Xiao Tianyang and Saber were wildcards. While they didn't pose a lethal threat, they could appear at any moment to challenge or disrupt their plans. In such an unpredictable environment, they couldn't afford to waste time.
"Wow, I never thought I'd be lectured by the fatty one day," Dai Mubai sighed, relenting. "Fine, you take aim, Tang San. Once you catch it, I'll handle the rest."
"Alright," Tang San nodded. His eyes narrowed as he focused on the Scale-armored Beast. The beast seemed to sense the difference in this human's gaze. It felt a familiar, dangerous aura—one that reminded it of the times it had been stared down by older, more powerful soul beasts.
But before it could react, the Flying God's Claw shot out in a perfect arc, landing precisely on its vital point. The claws clamped down, and the Scale-armored Beast let out a pained wail, its eyes turning blood red.
"Boss Dai, now's your chance! Pull it in!" Tang San ordered.
Without a word, Dai Mubai stepped forward, his gold-threaded gloves gripping the thin steel wire. With a forceful tug, he yanked the Scale-armored Beast toward them.
The beast, caught off guard, was dragged into the poisonous mist. It flailed helplessly, its hooves kicking in the air as it lost all leverage. The pain had already weakened it significantly, making it an easy target for Dai Mubai.
"Rongrong, it's your turn!" Tang San called out.
Ning Rongrong moved swiftly, drawing the dagger Xiao Tianyang had given her. Without hesitation, she plunged it into the Scale-armored Beast's eye.
Both Ma Hongjun and Oscar couldn't help but gasp—not because of the act itself, but because she twisted the dagger mercilessly.
This scene was far more brutal than Zhu Zhuqing's earlier strike.
