Even though player casualties far outpaced the monster deaths, their numbers were simply unmatched. The Fourth Scourge wasn't just a nickname—and most of those remaining were from Golden Ridge City, allowing them to quickly return to the battlefield even after dying.
Soon, another hour passed, and as no new Demonic Beasts appeared, the players finally saw a glimmer of hope. If nothing new showed up, no matter how ferocious the current monsters were, they would eventually be worn down.
