Thane never liked venturing out at night, especially not near the foggy edge of the academy grounds. But tonight, of all days when he got called out by three students, that's when he became unlucky.
"Do you see that?" one of the boys, pointed with a trembling hand.
Standing beneath the old statue, something towered over them. Its armour was black and tarnished, with green mist flowing out from the neck—where its head should've been. The Dullahan.
"How the hell did that thing get in here?" the third boy asked, backing away. Blood was already pooling under their feet. It already chopped off the head of the first student.
These creatures weren't supposed to be inside the academy. The wards around the grounds are protected by a magic barrier, although it's not as strong as the main academy. Yet this one was able to enter the academy, standing there, tall and menacing, its headless body-gripping a large axe. Then it moved.
Too late.
