Zephyr jerked up in a start at the piercing sound of the scream . Even before his eyes fully focused, the unmistakable wave of her scent crashed over him.
Vanilla and lavender, a sweet, innocent blend that somehow now clawed at a deeper, primal part of him.
It was her.
It was definitely her.
Selene, frantic beneath him, scrambled away. She reached for the candle holder on the bedside and snatched it up as a possible weapon of defense.
Zephyr watched her with a wild storm of emotions churning within him.
SHE'S MINE! TAKE HER NOW! SHE IS MINEEEEE!!!!
His Wolf howled desperately within surging to the surface.
Damn Zeeb for being right! Zephyr snarled inwardly, he really should not have taken three glasses of the dragon's breath.
His vision swam, edges blurring and hazy, yet every detail of Selene – the panicked glitter in her wide eyes, the defiant set of her jaw – seemed etched with impossible clarity.
