When Aurora took over the position as Empress, she had thought her days as the head of the Inner court would be spend rewarding the good doers, and sharing tea and gossip with the other ladies. At least her first few days. She deserved that after all.
Never in a hundred years did she expect her very first day to go by confronting her former friend.
Amalia stood there with slightly wide eyes and parted lips, shock and confusion written all over her face as if she could not understand what Aurora was saying. But deep down, a part of her knew. It always knew. Aurora would catch up someday.
"Y-Your Majesty… I'm afraid I don't-"
"We can do this in two ways." Aurora cut in again, her demeanor calm but she was internally losing her patience. "You can either play oblivious while I coax the truth out of you, or I can just walk out of this room without hearing your side of the story and tell Tesarius everything I know. Even without evidence, who do you think will he believe?"
