As more Demon Extermination Force Operators report sightings of the strange eyes observing their position, their voices and chants start permeating the air, displacing the tune of nature playing in the background. Their artificial symphony soon added metallic clicking sounds to the mix, stemming from their rifles, as the operators pulled back their charging handles to ensure their guns were loaded.
Afterwards, Claude could hear the sound of footsteps coming from behind, getting ever closer. He turns out and sees Sergeant Jake walking over to Clancy's position with some binoculars in hand.
Once Jake stood right next to Clancy, he brought the binoculars near his eyes to examine the situation. As Clancy and the others stated earlier, there appeared to be little black eyes sticking on a meaty tube, just leaning over the walls. The demons themselves appear to be hiding behind the homes to make sure that the operatives couldn't get a shot.
"You guys spotted these guys just now?" he asks Clancy.
"Yes, sir," Clancy replies. As Jake keeps holding up the binoculars with his left hand, he picks up his mobile radio with his right hand. He presses a button and then brings it near his mouth to speak into the microphone.
"This is Sergeant Jake Skinner. All units, please be on guard for any demonic beasts encroaching on the perimeter. A possible wave may be coming. Over," he speaks into the microphone. Claude looks to his side and spots a DEF operator inside the house, looking down at the road as well. It appears there are some operators in the homes, and that's who Jake contacted.
After he was done warning the soldiers in the homes, his stoic face quickly faded, replaced by a sudden wave of distress. He backs away, turns his head around, and yells at the resting, experienced soldiers behind them.
"Everyone, gather up! We are about to face another wave!" he claims.
Confused as to why his mood shifted so quickly, Claude looks down his sight to observe what he saw on the other end of the road. The demonic animals hiding behind the homes had withdrawn half of their eyes. They had now started slowly walking over to the center of the road, grabbing the operator's full attention.
The demonic animals had the general shape and appearance of a regular boar, with a larger body the size of a dumpster and a muscular frame as veiny as a bodybuilder on steroids. However, unlike a regular boar, it carried certain other traits that made it rather distinguishable from a normal animal here on earth.
The boar's entire face was covered in yellow, pointy horns, kind of like a mask to shield its face. They formed around its 6 eyes, some oozing this black liquid substance onto the ground. As it opened its mouth, it exposed its many sets of razor-sharp teeth with pointed ends, salivating more black ooze into the ground.
Claude felt his stomach churn upon examining the beasts through the scope. Though it looked vaguely familiar, it looked nothing like anything he had ever seen. For a second, he felt as if his meal had reached his mouth, only to slide back down to his belly as Claude contained himself.
"Clancy, do you know how long has it been?" he asks. Clancy looks at his watch, and turns to Claude.
"Only 10 minutes left," he replied. The demonic bears then stop running around in circles, by lunging straight at their direction.
"I have to watch their ugly faces for 10 more minutes? Uh…" Claude comments.
"Well, at least I get to shoot them in the face…" he mutters.
"Same here, Private. Same here," Clancy replied, hearing Claude's comment.
Once the demonic boars got onto the road, they moved over and formed a straight line. After a few seconds of staring down the soldiers, who haven't even fired a single bullet, they opened their mouth and let out a strange roar.
OOOOAAAAHHHHGGGG!
After their cry, they looked down and started charging towards the barricade. The soldiers, upon witnessing the beasts approaching, snap out of their lucid state and begin firing. Gunshots immediately erupt out of the barricade as metal bullets start raining down on the demonic boars.
RATATATATATAT!
Claude kept his rifle in automatic fire as he squeezed the trigger. He felt his body shake as he kept firing the gun. The lead flew fast and hit the boars in the head really hard, breaking through their yellow face armor and striking them down about 300 meters out down the road.
However, as the DEF operators continued to fire and massacre the demonic hordes, they continued to advance onward without a hint of fear in their eyes. Their numbers even continued to increase, as more boars poured from houses just 400 meters down the road. When the ones at the front fall, the others behind jump over their bleeding bodies and continue onward, slowly closing in the gap.
Despite their progress, Claude continued to fire upon the incoming demons with a sinister smile on his face. Though they gained ground little by little, he doubted whether they'll be able to make it in time at all. He knew that reinforcements were just under 10 minutes away. If they make it here, the increase in firepower would guarantee their victory. They won't be able to break through their lines unless they have millions of demons to spare.
But as this assumption asserted itself, it made Claude start to wonder where the blue giants and green goblins had gone. Surely, they would have supported these demonic beasts one way or another to gain an advantage and help break through their lines.
"Wait, could this be a distraction? Are the other demons doing something else while we are focused on these guys?" he thought to himself.
He immediately stops firing and takes the time to look around the battlefield for anything fishy. He first looks to the street and then to the lawns and homes built on them. It was only then that he spotted a blue demon equipped with a huge bow, trying to get on top of the roof via the window.
"Contact! Blue Giants with bows on the roof! Right side!" he yells.
"I'll take care of them" he proclaimed before moved his sight to aim at the blue demon. After eyeballing the distance, he pulls the trigger to fire a dozen bullets in its direction, hoping one would hit.

A few lands on the story below, while one lands in his leg. It appears the home was just a little bit further than he thought, and would need some more precision to land the shot. Claude, remembering the lesson the machine gunner gave him, changes his select fire to single shot before aiming again.
He saw that the demon was panicking, and was trying to get back into the house before Claude lands a hit. Unlike the demon, he takes his time to aim the weapon, moving the crosshair just above its head before squeezing the trigger.
Click! BANG!
After a few seconds, blood can be seen squirting out of the blue demon's head as Claude lands a clean headshot to the back of its cranium. It immediately loses its sense of balance, causing it to move away from the window, roll over, and finally fall off the roof, hitting the hard pavement with a thud. He then shot a few more in its general direction, just to make sure that it was dead.
"Nice shot, Claude!" Clancy compliments him.
"Thanks!" Claude replies.
It was now clear to everyone what the demon's plans are. They were going to use the boars as a distraction so the others can get into position to pick them off one by one. Unfortunately for them, their plan has been found out, and the operators immediately made some new adjustments.
"All units, be aware for any demons trying to flank our positions. Blue giants were spotted on the roofs of the homes," Jake speaks into his microphone, allowing his words to be transmitted to everyone in this loud environment.
"Clancy and I will take care of any other demons that appear. Everyone else, please focus on the demonic boars. Over," he finishes before firing his rifle again.
Claude hears the command on his radio, situated near his shoulder inside a pocket of his plate carrier. Although he felt a little disheartened that he had to focus on the demonic boars, deep down he knew it was the best decision.
Clancy and jake were more experienced soldiers with better accuracy. It was the logical move to hand them the responsibility of taking those demons on the roofs down, and not the rookie who's fighting the demons for the first time with a rifle.
Eventually, through the loud gunshots, Claude hears the sound of engines whirling from the back. He quickly turns his head around, and spots a convoy of armored vehicles headed their way. Claude then turns back to face the demons, and continue firing. Though the demons kept coming, Claude knew that the battle was already over.
