Knock, Knock…. KnockKnock.
"I'll be there in a second!" Chasity shouts over the vacuum from the vacum.
KnockKnock,KnockKnock…. Knock.
"I'm coming!" The mother's voice was more stern and agitated compared to her slight startle from the first series of knocks.[1]
"sorry." Ava whispers from behind the door.[2]
Chasity sighs before she goes to open the door; it practically falls into her grasp after she unlocks it. "It's alright Av-" Ava collapses into Chasity's unprepared self as the door opens.[3]
The woman's auburn eyes sharpen; scanning, assessing, the cracked charred skin of Ava's arms and upper back.[4]
Ava chokes when Chasity wraps her arms around her, struggling between panting and gasping. "i'm a little-" Ava dryly coughs and wheezes over Chasity's shoulder. "-delicate right now." Chasity throws Ava's arm over her shoulder and wraps an arm around her waist. She doesn't say anything, just acts. [5]Ava grunts "Why are you so damn handsy?" her raspy and tired voice couldn't overshadow the agitation of her question. "You tell me I'm not some child but you treat me like one, you keep touching me so intimately like I'm not a pent up adult. I have urges and you treating me like I'm a kid and not caring where your hands go is not helping me suppress them-!" Ava starts throwing a coughing fit as Chasity puts her down onto the couch and retreats into the kitchen.
Ava is left on the couch looking at the muted blonde news reporter smile in an interview with a orange haired girl with freckles; she seemed upset but the remote was too far away for Ava to find out what was upsetting her.At least I wasn't late... I miss her, it's like seeing a sale for something you think you'd like only for it to become impossible to get. Ava's head slumps over onto the back of the couch, facing the window. The rain was stabbing me each step I made, and it didn't hurt. No matter how long I stood there, it wasn't adrenaline; after all I still felt it. Thunder booms[6] right after a bolt of lightning seemingly cracks the sky.
After a short while Chastity comes into the living room with a slightly thick, muddy violet-ish drink that partially reflects the warm orange hue of the kitchen light. After placing it in front of Ava she sits beside her, holding a bottle that reads: "Drowzee Refresher: Iapapa and Nanab Juice Mix", and places a hand on Ava's thigh. "I apologize for treating you as if you were my own child thus making you… uncomfortable, but-" Ava goes to grab the cup of silky smooth juice, her hand seemed as if it was trying to strangle the cup. "- I also apologize for implementing the idea that you're an adult." Chasity supports the cup as it slowly slips from Ava's hand. "Being an adult isn't just about knowing your actions have consequences, but about accepting the stumbles you make along the way and seeing what you can do better at the end of the day. Having regrets that you may be able to accept or refuse to acknowledge." Ava starts to notice the rings under the mother's eyes, her worn down nostalgic look. Chasity looks at one of the deep burns on Ava's left arm "Just don't let this be one of yours so soon."[7]
The adolescent nurtures the smooth drink. I'd drink it faster if I could, but I can definitely feel the burns feeling less... burny. It's like having an unusually sour grapefruit. Hmmm Grapefruit. Ava squirms on her cushion, feeling a familiar heat build in her body.
The mother stands in front of Ava, with a stern and worried expression. "I want you to undress down to your underwear while I get some bandages, we need to treat those burns and berry juices only help with minor burns."
Ava huffs, slowly into a breathy chuckle as she sets the cup down. "If you think an expired grapefruit smoothie makes up for a dinner than I feel bad for your previous dates." She mocks, slowly tearing away at her burnt and tattered shirt. At least the wounds healed.. That lion just kept coming after the first few punches, it was nice though; getting it all out. I even got out some of the old shit I didn't know I was holding in.
Chasity positions Ava so that her firm abs were easier to treat. "Incredible; that smoothie really helped..." She says lightly dabbing a cold towel near the burn. [8]
"Too cold, let it heat up a bit."
Chasity quickly puts down the towel. "Apologies, its been a while since I had to treat any wounds. Since most of your deep wounds are on your arms, can I trust you to take a cool bath?"
Ava chuckles. "The fuck is this bath gonna have to make it cool? Sorry but I don't really find bath bombs and wine as cool as you more mature people." Chasity smiles a little, as if she expected something like that. "Yes, I can be responsible."[9]
"Thank you." Chasity gets up and leaves Ava with the Tv, the rain, and her thoughts.
The thunder booms in sync with a bright streak of lightning, lighting up the sky. I can still see and hear it, Melia's satchel stained with her blood, the sound of Aevia's bones breaking on the rocks before her body bounces off and lifelessly thud on the ground. She looks at the burnt remains of her lavender sweatshirt. Useless. "these memories are useless" Ava staggers to her feet upon hearing a door upstairs open. "Fate is a dominating force... but denying it is all we can do for a better future."
Ren stays by the living room's opening, looking down at his curled fist with a growing spark of determination. "Ava..." His eyes shift between his fist and Ava's burned and scarred body. "Maybe, maybe you're right." He whispers to himself
Yea.. Chasity comes down to tell Ava about her bath.
"Remember to keep your arms out of the water. And don't use soap, I pulled out some baby wipes in case you wanted a dry bath for the sweat and rain."
[1] "Give me a damn minute!" Alain shouts over the banging on her door.
[2] "It's Ava! I found her knocked out by the outskirt of town!" A red haired masculine ambiguous person shouts from behind the door, slouched with Ava on his back.
[3] Alain unlocks the dual lock system of her front door with haste. "Why is it always her. Any broken bones, Aero?" She questions, quickly scooping Ava off of the red head.
[4] Aero looks at the white haired person, their brown amber eyes looking into their blue jade eyes. "Poison?" the white haired figure guesses
[5] Ava struggles in their arms. "LET GO OF ME!" She starts pushing against their solid shoulders.
Alain struggles to keep hold of Ava's torso, as the girl twist and kicks in their arms. "AVA, STOP! I CAN'T PATCH YOU UP IF YOU SQUIRM LIKE THIS!"
"I LET HER DIE!" She admits before her body simply ceases all movement. "she's dead..."
Alain lowers Ava, almost like her arms lost strength. "wh-Who is she talking about?"
Aero looks to the carpeted floor, then lets out a heavy sigh. "Ava and Aevia were taking a stroll when a Drifbloom came and picked Aevia up... She chased and then.... she saw it it *let go* ."
[6] Alain drops to their knees, clutching onto Ava (Who is still in their arms) like she was something they were missing. "I should've went, I should've just went WITH HER! BUT NOOOO, I JUST HAD TO HELP THE THEATER CLUB!"
Aero looks at their beat up Pokeball. "No body could've done anything in time. By time we could've got our Pokemon from home it'd be too late."
Alain rolls Ava out of their arms onto the floor and stands., their fist balled. "I should've pushed for the school to allow pokemon indoors." They glares down to Ava's self pitying face, they can see their own anger in her eyes; and stumps off.
*She had every right to kick me, she didn't pass that rule because of me, too protect me. ME! Aevia didn't deserve to die like that, and the universe did it just to laugh at me.*
[7] A few days later
A male with Hazelnut brown hair swiftly marches up to Ava, before picking her up from her chair and cracking the wood of the rice window with her body. His face was so close Ava could practically taste his breathe. "Do not think for a second that her death isn't your fault. If you weren't so violent she would've had her pokemon."
He pulls her off of the window and slams her against it again.
"Aevis! STOP!" A milky brown girl pries the male off. "She isn't the only Violent person in school and you know it! And don't you think the person who saw her die is the most affected? The person we had to all restrain just so she could get treated from the wound she got trying to save her! Is the most affected! WE ALL MISS HER!" The tears in her eyes prick as she guards Ava, who is slouched on the floor with bleeding bandages.
Aveis stumps to the door and pauses. "She told me things, shit she didn't even tell her parents... We had Plans Ariana." Then leaves."
[8] A girl with long pink hair dabs a moist towel on Ava's red skin. "Aevis told me this would happen."
"I just wanted to know if it'll be hot..." Ava replies smirking
"His Sylveon just learned Mystical fire, now she might be even more cautious about using it!" The girl reaches over white bowler hat into her pink and white purse.
Ava sighs at not getting the expected reaction. "Axel or Alain would laugh. Aevis and Aero would mock me as they helped. But noo, Aevia has to be a worry wort." She huffs at the girl as she pulls out a square bandage. "It's ok to laugh you know."
"How can I laugh when someone I love is hurt?! It's ok for you to *Not* be okay." Aevia places the bandage and tries to apply the tape just right for Ava, not too tight but not too loose.
[9] "Fine, I'll cry whenever I stub my toe."
Aevia looks down at her lap, with a sad expression. "Ava..."
"Oh come on Aevia." Ava cups Aevia's cheek and looks at her face, adoringly. "It's just not in my nature to cry or admit when I'm in pain or exhausted, I just go with it. I mean the only way you guys found out my secret was that very reason." Her sunburst eyes look away from Aevia's Pantone eyes, looking down at the too tight bandage.
"I did it too tight huh?"
"A little, Nurse Delight."
Aevia pouts. "I'm not that bad at patching you up!"
