Chapter 80 - It Really Could Be Him

Barry is surprised by Diana's sudden hug, but he lets her have a moment and calm down.

After a few seconds, Diana lets go and looks at Barry. "Thank you," she says.

"For what?" Barry asks. "For saving these people, without you, all of them would be dead," Diana says. "No need to thank me. That's what we heroes do, don't we? It's our duty to save and help those who can't help themselves," Barry says with a smile.

Diana, who just saw how cruel humans can be, willing to kill innocent people for no reason, now also sees the other side of it through Barry, the one who is willing to save everyone, no matter who they are.

She is aware enough to notice that Barry hasn't killed a single person, even though he is the one who took out most of the enemies. This person standing before her embodies what it means to be a man in her eyes.

Steve finally arrives, "Diana... I finally caught up to you," He says while looking at Barry standing beside her.

"Glad you are here. I need to tell you guys something," Barry says, snapping Diana out of her thoughts.

"What is it?" Diana asks.

"Those cannons that just fired the gas bombs. I had destroyed all of them just a minute ago before I approached you guys, but they seem to have been restored, like magic," Barry says.

"It must be Ares," Diana says.

"And I think I am starting to believe you," Barry says.

"You are serious?" Steve asks.

"Why would I lie? I had reduced those cannons to fine dust by destroying their very molecular structure. One shouldn't be able to reconstruct them in a minute unless some kind of magic is involved," Barry says.

"Then we need to find Ludendorff, if Diana is right about him. Killing him might actually end the war," Steve says. He, too, starts to believe Diana's words now that he has seen the impossible, which is Barry.

Before, he was still skeptical, thinking that Diana might have misunderstood things. But now that he has seen Barry and heard him talking about the usage of magic, the possibility of Ludendorff being Ares has increased even more.

Suddenly, Steve sees black smoke rising in the distance. Noticing this, Barry turns his head. "What's that?" He asks

"It's Chief. He must have followed Ludendorff. We need to follow the smoke," Steve says. Hearing him, Diana immediately gets on a horse and chases after the smoke. Seeing this, Steve rushes towards the motorcycle and gives chase to Diana.

Barry sees this and sighs. "I could have carried them all the way there... Well, whatever," Barry says and follows them, matching their speed. This might be the slowest he has ever run, ever since he became the Flash.

On the way, Barry takes care of some soldiers who were stationed at the checkpoints, making way for Diana's easy passage.

Diana directly makes her way towards the air base while Steve regroups with his ragtag group.

Barry joins the ragtag group as Diana is strong enough to take care of herself; if anything is in need of this protection, it's this group he has made friends with.

The group soon arrived at the barbed fence. "How do we get in?" Sameer asks.

"There must be another way in, we need to find it," The Chief says.

"No need, I can get you guys in," Barry says and walks up to Steve and holds him by his shoulders.

"What are you doing?" Steve asks, confused. "Just hold your breath," Barry advises. He then enters Flash Time and makes a run for it, taking Steve with him. He effortlessly runs him over the fence before coming back for the rest.

Before the group even realizes what happened, they are already on the other side.

They all feel a little dizzy and off balance, but manage to get their act together. The group looks at Barry as if he is some kind of magician, as the only thing they have experienced is the change of environment. If they didn't have an understanding of Barry's power, they would think they just teleported.

"Is there anything you can't do, Mr. Allen?" Sameer asks in awe. Barry just smiles.

"I need to find Diana," Steve says, and immediately goes in search of her. Barry lets him. His focus is on keeping the boys safe.

"What's the plan?" Barry asks.

"We go in and stop this war once and for all," Charlie says, cocking his gun.

Barry and the group make their way towards the hangar and find soldiers upon soldiers running around carrying bombs in their hands.

"More Gas bombs," Barry says.

Steve comes back running.

"Where's Diana?" Sameer asks.

"We are on our own," Steve says. Hearing this, Barry wonders what happened to make Diana hesitate, but this is not the time to ask questions. It's time to take action.

"I can't see where they're taking them?" Charlie questions while looking through the scope of his gun.

"How do we get in there?" the chief asks.

"I've got an idea," Sameer says and tries to run, but Barry stops him.

"Okay, calm down, Sameer. I think you guys should stay out of this. Let me handle the rest," Barry says.

"What are you saying? We can't just sit back and watch them do whatever they are planning," Steve says.

"Who said I am going to let them? The hangar is full of soldiers. You guys are unnecessarily risking your lives.

I will take care of it, don't worry. I just need to get rid of the gas bombs. That's the plan, right?" Barry asks.

"As basic as it can get," Charlie says.

"Then, just stand here and let me do my thing," Barry says and disappears before their very eyes in a flash of lightning.
