Chapter 175 - Source Origin(25)

Cades had no idea where the clothes had come from, but he knew what they entailed, he felt cold stone, weightless but powerful, resting atop his face, fitting perfectly but most likely being adjusted on the outer side, resembling something that he somehow felt to be a kind of smile that seemed forced, eternal, sad, but there, perhaps something that was supposed to symbolise a part of Cades himself, the part that he did not care about, something he refused to thimk about.

he rest of the clothes were nothing special, aside from perhaps the thick coat covering everything and making him look like a kind of ghost as barely any of his skin was even visible, though he was quick to discern that the entire thing was of a darkish black colour as soon as he looked at his own arm, the left one, his current favourite for some reason.

Luckily to the currently confused Cades the other person that had arrived, the being, two-legged as he could assume, being his likely opponent that he would soon have to face and preferably kill with relative ease, was also dressed in something akin to what he was wearing, though, some things about them were different, with both Cades and the unknown person staring each other down, analysing the situation and readying themselves while studying their clothes, Cades realizing that his dagger was still relatively easy to grab, situated right outside the clothes he was wearing on a thin dark blackish grey string that somehow managed to hold scabbards for both his sword which he held in his hand and the dagger in which it was situated, both of a sleek and elegant black colour that resembled the clothes themselves.

The mask of the opponent, about as big as Cades himself was depicting a grimace that reminded Cades of a man screaming in suffrage, something that consequently just led to him referring to this being as both a man and a ehetrian-like being, as always, without wings.

Nevertheless, his clothes, covering everything and truly resembling those that were often depicted on ghosts in pop-culture and older paintings were grey with golden lining, something that Cades was somehow confused about, as if something in the back of his mind was screaming, just as what happened to him when he saw blackish hair being pressed out from under the mask and the hood that covered everything as well, long and powerful, looking fairly feminine, though he was still certain that the mask was depicting a man.

The man wasn't holding a weapon, he was looking around, confused, unfocused on Cades, but he didn't attack, and neither could Cades, at least not while he had no idea of what they were capable of doing, of what their magical spells were, of what system they used, of whether they fought physically, mentally, metaphysically, magically, or in any other way that he hadn't managed to discover yet, and he was certain that there were quite a lot he hadn't found out about yet.

And as such he hesitated, not knowing whether he should attack or not, and while he was doing so the other being attacked, or at least it did something that seemed like it was an attack, it waved a hand, a gesture so menial Cades was barely able to react, mainly because of the speed, and he was barely able to evade a blackish transparent blade, sleek and quite beautiful, that was seemingly thrown at him from nowhere, supposedly alleviating his opponent of their weapon and relieving some of the fear from Cades mind before he realized that he should not underestimate them, before he realized that they might have more, or, god beware, might have the ability to create those blades, or perhaps some kind of magic, though that kind of magic was difficult, even if they were only magical constructs that would last temporarily.

Nevertheless, it had caught Cades, even though this one was the one that was much more capable when fighting, off guard, allowing the opponent to get closer at a surprisingly great speed that Cades couldn't even understand at first, at least not before he looked at the way he was walking a bit, realizing just how the man, if it was truly a man, was moving forward at a speed greater than even Cades own, something he was especially proud of, being able to strengthen it using expulsions of mana from his own body as well as simple pushing and reinforcement itself, something that seemed to have grown much harder to do after he had become a transcribe though, almost as if back then, when he was at the rank of a lord, everything was simpler, which it was.

Now he had to analyse how the hell the being was using the very stone under their feet to push themselves forward, something that was so peculiar and new to him that he lost control for just a moment, almost losing balance and shrieking slightly, causing an embarrassing sound to escape that other people would've probably call a kind of moan, but was in truth just a weird kind of sighing at both the excitement and danger of meeting something entirely new for the first time, though eh did know something that was capable of doing this, theoretically, but that took a lot longer to cast, at least the simplest way, so he just assumed that it was a new kind of magic, especially since he could barely feel any kind of mana moving around, something primal to both the thing he was thinking of, though he couldn't recall what exactly it was, and any other kind of magic he could think of that could maybe do something like this, such as telekinesis, though it would be easier, by then, to just use that telekinesis to move oneself forward.

However, the being was still using pillars to push themself forward, and soon enough he was there, ready to fight Cades who was barely able to put his sword up, shining silver and held in both of his hands, his feet already readying himself to change positions but strong enough to hold up because of his steadfast active, still lost in thoughts at finding something entirely new, but ready to fight.

Finally, after a long time of waiting and running, falling and clinging, the blades met, and he was able to fight to his fullest, and perhaps, from what he was feeling right now, even above of that.
