Chapter 368 - A Huge Mess

"The merchants seem to have formed a group."

Lance slammed the papers he was holding down on the table and spoke with a great deal of bemusement.

Rope was not too concerned.

"It's normal to form a group. In itself, the first reaction to something like this should really be to form a group. If they were still fighting separately, I don't think there would have been any of these things. Plus there are still some people who are not satisfied with staying in the merchant class and are ready to make the leap upwards."

Rope shrugged and said, "Ambitious people will be found in any class."

Lance nodded, and it was true, for Rope, none of this was a big deal, just one or two ambitious people who wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to fish in troubled waters, it was all acceptable.

"If it does go your way...Rope, are you sure you can really keep it under control?"

Seriously, Lance was a bit scared.Rope's plan was a bit too crazy. At any moment, it could lead to a war. Rope is not worried at all.

Rope wasn't worried at all and shook his head, "A war is unlikely to happen. The main body of the war is humans and Pokémon, not merchants. Merchants don't have that right to represent humanity as a whole. Not even League."

Rope said, the corner of his mouth turned up in disdain as he said, "Do those businessmen really think they're some kind of gods? Everyone will fight for their interests. It's not good to think of anything. Even League can't please all the people."

Lance also shook his head, he knew exactly what Rope was thinking. Make the populace feel threatened, so that the explicit opponents would no longer oppose. That way, the whole thing would be much simpler.

Once the voices of opposition were silenced, as long as the normal operations continued, there wouldn't be much of a storm to stir up again. Playing with people's hearts...those businessmen weren't the only ones who could do such an operation.

Rope could do it as well, and he could even do it better. It's just that Rope doesn't usually bother to manipulate public opinion in such a way.

Giving respect to the people was one of the things he was taught well back then.

"Are you sure the Pokémon side won't get out of hand? Seriously, they don't care that much if some Pokémon fights get real."

Lance knew a thing or two about that. Many of the Pokémon under his hand didn't have good temperaments. Even Dragonite, who had a relatively mild temperament, had the arrogant and tyrannical side of a dragon Pokémon in his personality. Not to mention Charizard, Gyarados and other Pokémon.

Once such a Pokémon went out of control, it would be nothing to the higher level trainers like them, but to the ordinary civilians, it would cause huge losses.

Those losses, in turn, would bring about public anger. League could ignore the clamor of the merchants. Because there weren't even really any big merchants among them.

Whether it was the Silph Co. or the Devon Corporation, none of them raised any objections to the plan. Although Macro Cosmos acted ambiguously, Rose wouldn't be so stupid as to immediately turn against the League at this point in the event that he had just joined the League.

Rose would not be so stupid as to immediately turn against the League at this point in time, and she would surely give in in the end.

After all, according to Rope's understanding, Rose wasn't fighting for money. Although this guy's method of struggle was indeed problematic. But this guy's heart is still very clear. He was indeed fighting for the next millennium in the Galar region.

But when the people of the entire region were feeling worried and angry, League could never sit back and do nothing anymore. Because this had already involved the foundation of League's rule.

So League will be in a situation where it can't help itself.

Rope could even ignore the existence of the League. After all, what he cared about was humans and Pokémon. Not the relationship between League and Pokémon.

But then again, there were various reasons that led to him not being able to get rid of League at all, so defending League was also something Rope definitely wanted.

"Don't worry, there's no big problem. I'm still relieved that Mewtwo is doing his job. The gods definitely have more control over ordinary Pokémon than you think."

Rope wasn't worried about anything going wrong on the Pokémon side...at all. Because the Legendary Pokémon were the natural leaders of the Pokémon. Born out of the Laws and Origin, they themselves had a near fatal suppressive power over Pokémon of the same attribute.

Lance did still have a lot of worries in his heart. But looking at Rope's confident expression, he also knew that there seemed to be no need for him to ask.

If Rope, who knew the most about this matter, was so confident, there seemed to be no reason for him to be uneasy.

"I'll arrange for a few more groups of people to watch. No matter what, you can't go too far."

Lance said seriously.

Seeing Lance so seriously compacted, Rope nodded and said, "I'll also instruct Mewtwo more, she won't let you or I down."

Speaking here, Lance looked like he suddenly remembered something and opened his mouth to ask, "Now you don't have anything else to do? How come you have time to discuss this with me?"

Under normal circumstances, Rope wouldn't explain much about such things. After all, he was busy. Busy running around the world like a headless fly. The result of which was also like a headless fly with little results at all.

Up to now, Rope's greatest achievement was that he had already confirmed two more Arceus in this world.

This was not a small achievement. After all, it was about the God of Creation. Even a small gain was a big gain. Aka's attitude towards this world is still ambiguous, and the one who searched for the divine power of the humanoid Arceus has not been found. His greatest enemy, the black-skirted woman who was also an outsider, also had little news.

Having been busy for a little over half a year, all Rope had really been doing had been nothing more than preliminary preparations.

"It's true that I'm rather idle now. There's no news of Celebi on this side of time travel. That side is also looking for news of the Diamond Domain."

Rope was also distressed, touching fish was good though. But it was only a good thing when there was nothing else to do. It wasn't a good thing when everything was stuck like it was now.

Lance nodded, but quickly reflected.

"Wait, did you say Diamond Domain? Is that the place where the legendary Diamond Princess Diancie is? What are you doing there?"

Rope nodded and said, "Indeed it's the Diamond Domain, I'm not getting ready to get engaged to Cynthia here, the engagement ring isn't ready yet. But I'm going to get some higher quality diamonds. Although there are very good ones among the diamonds out there now."

"But it's best to find such things yourself."

Lance listened to Rope's words and thought for a moment, then said, "In that case, let me know when you find a clue. I'll go with you if I have time."

This time instead, Rope looked at Lance in surprise.

"You're going to marry Clair?"

"Nope! It's just an engagement too!"

Lance hurriedly denied it and explained the situation.

"I was strong-armed by a bunch of elders during the New Year. But I'm not really against it per se is all...she and I, we were meant to be together."

Lance said seriously.

Rope was very much like telling Lance that it wasn't really like that. If you really don't like it you can totally not accept such a family given marriage.

However, on second thought, did he still need Rope to remind him that Lance was not the kind of good boy who always listened to the family's arrangement.

The reason why I accepted it now is probably because I am willing to fight.

Moreover, Clair is indeed a good match for Lance, and Rope feels the same way.

So Rope patted Lance's shoulder and said: ''Then congratulations on having to face such pressure as well. I'll be sure to let you know in advance when I find a clue."

——————————————

The little meetings of the merchants were still in full swing.

Almost everyone was complaining about all the trouble they had gotten themselves into with League and Pokémon in the course of developing certain matters.

"When my mine was being mined, I don't know how many stupid Pokémon ran out and sabotaged my machines and injured my miners. It made me lose a lot of money.League's side even pulled the strings and favored those Pokémon!"

"I spent money on this mine too! It's not even if he, League, doesn't help me clean up the Pokémon inside. He even helped the Pokémon to clean me up, this is not a clear case of inaction! This isn't clearly bullying us merchants!"

This short, fat and black man said on the stage with tears in his eyes, criticizing Pokémon and League to the core. It was as if League sold him the mining rights of the mines just for the sake of a Pokémon to unite together to trap him.

At this moment, there was a young merchant below who couldn't help but skim his lips.

The merchant beside him saw this reaction and opened his mouth with interest and asked, "Why, man, know any insider information?"

The young man glanced at the merchant beside him before saying, "This guy just knows how to talk about how Pokémon are destroying his production. But in reality League's rules are that outside of the demarcated area belongs to Pokémon's habitat, and no mining is allowed. Only one third of the mine was granted to him. The rest still belongs to the Pokémon's habitat."

"But this guy obviously barred the entire mine to be exploited, and when the Pokémon came over to seek justice, he also injured and killed all of those Pokémon, and even captured some to buy them."

"Later on, the ranger organization and League's relevant department punished, confiscated the area, and fined him a great deal of money."

"But that precious land which was originally a place for new trainers to obtain Rock-type Pokémon was completely unsuitable for trainers to enter. The Pokémon everywhere were tremendously hostile to humans. There have even been instances of Pokémon maliciously injuring people."

"You're by no means going overboard when you say that this fellow is guilty of a great crime."

After saying that, the young man snorted once again, "I know that these people who came here today, including me, are not clean. But if people like this can even go up and speak, it only shows that the purpose of this meeting is not to defend our merchants' own rights at all..."

The merchants around him felt that what he said made sense. But were not about to pick up on it. Just like what this young man said, every merchant who came here today was not a clean person.

But when they looked at the man above them, their eyes eventually took on a look of contempt. Everyone might have some things that were overdone. But like he was so excessive. Going so far as to leave a city's children without any rock- or ground-type Pokémon to take in nearby was in itself the most despised behavior.

It's like having one person do something and then having a really good school in the area not enroll. To say that it was cutting off someone's future was not an overly heavy statement.

And the man on the stage didn't realize that someone down below already knew his true colors. Still performing to the best of his ability.

Because League had fined him a large sum of money, his previous life was not poor, but it was definitely not a big spender either.

If he could please that old man this time, he might be able to make a comeback and live a good life again.

With his remaining light, he looked at the old man's expression. Sure enough, he was very satisfied. Hearing the strings, when the old man spoke on stage, everyone realized what exactly this old man wanted.

It was only that some felt that it was unreliable, some felt that they could give it a try, and some felt that they could replace it.

Of course, there was naturally no shortage of speculative, fly-by-night people like Fatty.

Some of the businessmen were already rubbing their fists, ready to go on stage later to talk about their own experiences and insights.

But just at this time, the young man's phone vibrated. The young man frowned when he picked up the phone and realized that it was one of his own men.

He had instructed his subordinates before he came to the meeting today not to disturb him without anything particularly important.

But now the phone was still ringing. So he picked up the phone.

"Hello, what is it?"

He lowered his voice but didn't choose to leave his seat, as much as he despised these whimsical guys, he really didn't want to miss the rest of the meeting either.

What if it really succeeded? The cake that everyone would have to share if it succeeded was surprisingly large!

"Boss! Boss is not good!!!"

A subordinate's panicked voice came from the other end of the phone, even vaguely bringing on a trill and a crying tone.

The young man's face instantly changed, his subordinate he knew very well, if such a situation...

"What's wrong?"

"Pokémon! All those Pokémon from the forest have run out. They're near the campground now. They're everywhere, all over the mountains. It's like there's been a beast wave!!!"

The young man's face instantly turned pale.

"Watch what you say, beast tide is not a word to be used carelessly!"

The young man was not suppressing his voice. So many people even read looked at him. Also heard that term.

But before they could listen to two more ears, they realized that their cell phones... also rang.
