Boom boom boom...
Punch after punch landed like a violent storm. The flurry of blows rained down on Carter, pounding his body until he could no longer stand straight. He swayed like a puppet on strings.
Who knows how many strikes were thrown?
When Feng Yu finally stopped, a bloody, mangled figure was blasted away by the final impact—flying dozens of meters before crashing into the dirt.
His entire body was covered in blood, with grotesque dents from the relentless blows. It was Carter.
Under the fury of Feng Yu's "Swift as the Wind", Carter had been nearly pounded into mush. He died instantly—his corpse a horrific mess of torn muscle and shattered bone.
"That's number four."
Exhaling slowly, Feng Yu turned his gaze to the remaining two—Nolan and Reid, still locked in battle against the two Shadow Riders.
His eyes flicked between the two, but only for a moment. His focus sharpened.
He locked onto Reid.
Pick the weakest first. Leave the toughest for last.
Without hesitation, Feng Yu used "Unknowable as Shadow" and vanished—rushing toward Reid at a speed no normal eye could follow.
The Shadow Rider's body, formed from a mass of threads, could not only replicate Feng Yu's Thread Fruit abilities but also scale in strength based on Feng Yu's mastery of that power.
At his current level, even with two split-off Shadow Riders, their combat strength was nothing to scoff at.
Someone like Reid, a first-class Nen user, could barely hold them off—let alone defeat one.
"Thread Snatch!"
While deftly dodging Reid's ongoing barrage of Nen bullets, the Shadow Rider suddenly extended five thread-like fingers toward Reid—each one arcing high before dropping like a net.
"This trick won't work on me!" Reid growled.
Reacting quickly, he stepped back and dodged the falling silk. At the same time, he aimed both arms at the Shadow Rider and fired off another stream of Nen bullets.
Da-da-da-da—
The Shadow Rider twisted and rolled, evading with fluid grace. Though some bullets landed and tore through parts of its thread body, the damage was superficial.
Each damaged section rapidly regenerated, threads reweaving themselves into shape.
That was the Shadow Rider's advantage—its semi-autonomous form wasn't truly alive, and could not be "killed" unless it was completely destroyed.
Whoosh!
Just then, a blur of motion streaked through the air.
Feng Yu burst into the battlefield like a thunderbolt, his form materializing near Reid in an instant.
Because Reid was so focused on the Shadow Rider, he didn't notice Feng Yu until it was too late.
"No way...!"
A chill shot up Reid's spine. His instincts screamed in warning.
Abandoning his attack on the Shadow Rider, he turned and tried to leap back—arms raised, ready to fire at Feng Yu.
"Too slow."
Feng Yu's voice was like ice.
Even without the distraction, Reid would have had no chance to respond in time. With "Unknowable as Shadow," Feng Yu's speed was simply too overwhelming.
Reid hadn't even finished raising his arms before Feng Yu closed the distance and drove his fist forward.
"The art of war: Invade like fire!"
Feng Yu's fist rocketed out like a cannon blast—raw, ruthless, and blazing with explosive power.
BOOM!
His punch landed squarely on Reid's throat.
The Nen shielding around it shattered like glass under the impact.
Blood sprayed. Bone cracked. Flesh ruptured.
The force snapped Reid's neck completely, tearing his head clean off. His lifeless body collapsed to the ground while his head landed several meters away, wide-eyed and frozen in terror.
Feng Yu didn't spare the corpse a glance. He dismissed the Shadow Rider and turned his sights toward the last target:
Nolan.
Nolan, the strongest member of the Meteor Chase Team.
Unlike Reid, Nolan was a tough opponent—even Shadow Rider had struggled to restrain him.
In fact, just as Feng Yu finished Reid, Nolan had finally broken free.
His blade danced in rapid arcs, slicing the Shadow Rider apart until it burst into scattered threads and vanished.
When the last of the silk dissipated, Nolan didn't hesitate.
He cast a single glance at Reid's shattered corpse and Feng Yu's approaching form—then turned and ran.
He didn't speak. He didn't curse.
He simply bolted toward the horizon with everything he had.
He was escaping.
And it was the only reasonable choice.
With five of their six members now dead—including the powerful No. 5—only Nolan remained.
Continuing to fight Feng Yu would be suicide.
He'd only pursued Feng Yu because of orders from the Council of Elders. There was no personal grudge. And if staying meant dying, then even the threat of punishment from the Council couldn't stop him from fleeing.
Seeing Nolan bolt into the distance, Feng Yu didn't hesitate.
He launched after him—faster.
Though both were elite fighters, Feng Yu's body—strengthened by his training and the Spirit Fruit—was far superior in agility and speed.
There would be no escape.
