Chapter 14 - Journey: Saving lives

After a few days, Nate finally woke up from his long sleep. Alfred was overjoyed and advised him to rest well, urging him to stay in Lila for a few more days to fully recover. Nate told Alfred that after some time, they would need to return to Moha. However, Nate was still weak from his injuries and unable to do much; he had no choice but to rest and stay low for the time being. His brothers were protecting him from the inner forces of Moha.

The next day, Nate rose early, prepared his horse, and set off for Zealitya. He chose not to take Alfred with him, not wanting to risk the life of the young warrior for his own sake. After getting everything ready, he departed immediately.

During his journey, Nate encountered many fascinating sights. Eventually, he arrived near Zealitya and decided to rest at a small inn, where he spent the night. While he was sleeping, he was awakened by some noise. Looking out, he saw a small gang of thieves causing trouble. He quietly sat down and observed them.

Then one of the thieves moved closer to Nate, attempting to strike him. Without even rising from where he sat, Nate punched the thief with great force. The onlookers were amazed by his strength and composure. As the gang of thieves advanced together, Nate continued to strike them down one by one, still without leaving his seat. Shocked and overwhelmed, the thieves fled the scene, returning all they had stolen. The villagers praised Nate for his bravery.

Afterward, he departed from the outskirts and entered the city of Zealitya. His people were overjoyed to see him and welcomed him with great honor. He made his way to his mother's chamber, where they embraced warmly after a long time apart.

Later, Nate called for a meeting with the council of elders. He informed them with a serious tone that a great war was approaching.

"I have foreseen a great calamity approaching. We must begin preparations immediately. I have done everything within my power to prevent this war, but it is unavoidable. We must be ready to fight to our last breath."

The council agreed with his words. Later, his mother called him aside and advised him to be very careful. Meanwhile, Rectiha, now old and frail, appeared weak. Nate then headed to the training field with the field commander. While there, he saw his wife approaching from the left. Overjoyed, he lifted her into his arms, embraced her, and accompanied her to her chamber. There, they shared a tender moment together.

The next morning, Nate prepared to depart from Zealitya. Though the people did not want him to leave, he knew he must go—his duty was to protect them with all his strength. Mounting his horse, he rode off without delay. His life carried great responsibility, for he was known as the Breaker of Doors—a title earned through his many achievements.

On his way back to Lila, he came across a group of children walking alone on the road. He stopped and asked them what had happened and why they were walking by themselves. One of the children stepped forward and responded.

"My lord, we are from Reno," one of the children began. "We were traveling with our parents, carrying loads on our horses. As we reached a nearby stream, a group of warriors attacked us and stole all our belongings. Our parents tried to fight them off, but during the chaos, we escaped. Since then, we've been wandering alone—like lonely snails crawling through the forest."

Nate felt deeply saddened by their story. He asked the children to take him to the place where the robbery had occurred. From what he knew, Reno was considered an enemy of the Six Tribes and treated like slaves by other kingdoms. Still, he chose to help the children, protecting them as they traveled through the woods.

As they neared the spot, there was no sign of the attackers. But soon, the children found their parents' beads on the ground and began to cry. Nate sensed something was wrong. He immediately told the children to stay quiet and follow him. They quietly moved deeper into the forest, where they rested for the night. While the children slept, Nate kept watch until morning.

Determined to find the children's parents, he continued the search. Eventually, they located the bandits' camp. Nate waited until dawn before sneaking in. Inside, he discovered many kidnapped people, and among them were the children's parents. Carefully, Nate planned an escape route. In the process, he fought and killed some of the bandits.

Some of the bandits recognized him and shouted, "Breaker of the Seven Doors!" Nate roared like a lion starved for a hundred years. Fear gripped the bandits, and they fled without looking back. He rescued the children's parents, set them free, and safely escorted them out of the forest. Though some wished to follow him, he encouraged them to stay strong and protect their own. Mounting his horse, he rode back toward Lila.

That night, Nate passed through the Valley of Darem. Legend told of Darem, a once-powerful god who had been banished by the immortals a hundred thousand years ago for his greed. Transformed into a monstrous being, Darem haunted the forest, feeding on human blood.

Unaware that something dark still controlled the valley, Nate was suddenly alerted by a scream echoing from the southern side of the forest. He quickly rushed toward the sound and found the great immortal Darem attempting to devour a human. Without hesitation, Nate flew into the air and struck Darem with powerful magic. The creature fell to the ground, enraged, and charged at Nate.

A fierce battle followed. Darem was incredibly strong—like a lion ruling the jungle—but Nate's power allowed him to hold his ground. They clashed through the night, their battle shaking the forest. As dawn broke, Nate managed to wound Darem and trap him, finally turning the monstrous god into a servant under his control.
