Dying at the jaws of a Gluttonous Tyrannosaurus might seem plausible, but dying under the wheels of a car was something Colonel Barton dared not even contemplate further. A sonic transmitter is an unrestricted weapon, easily operable by ordinary people.
If all goes well and Military Road can be safely left behind, the first thing to do would be to learn how to drive. Number Zero pondered as he switched places with Colonel Barton.
Driving is one of the basic skills that every Patrol Army member must master. It's as essential as eating, sleeping, and relieving oneself.
The beautiful golden sunset intertwined with the sky, creating a stark contrast to the ongoing scene at the gates of the military region,
As soon as the patrol car came into Colonel Barton's hands, the vehicle executed a sharp 180-degree spin. The fuel gauge in the cylinder dropped by half a notch. The needle on the speedometer surpassed the warning red line, and the car charged like a frenzied bull towards the position behind the Gluttonous Tyrannosaurus.
"Remember, when we are at a disadvantage, approach from the rear to confuse the sight," the car had just rushed to the rear and immediately performed a 90-degree drift, from front to back, left to right, top left, bottom right, the Gluttonous Tyrannosaurus couldn't keep up with the speed of the patrol car.
After several rounds, the Gluttonous Tyrannosaurus was visibly disoriented.
"Fire," commanded Colonel Barton. Number Zero targeted the still unaware Gluttonous Tyrannosaurus, pressed the button in his hand, and a sonic wave missile shot straight towards the back of its head.
With a loud "boom," chunks of dinosaur flesh sprayed out, falling like hailstones. Soldiers from the Kapa Military District cheered loudly.
Number Zero and Colonel Barton, one standing and one sitting, stared at the headless but still-standing Gluttonous Tyrannosaurus corpse, noticing there was no blood! How could such a massive wound have no blood?
Not a single drop of blood was found on the entire Tyrannosaurus corpse.
Number Zero widened his eyes, noticing movement at the surface of the wound, created by the sonic wave missile.
Resembling tiny bubbles, red objects, unevenly shaped, pulsed at the decapitated spot.
From a distance, NPC Maggie also covered her mouth in shock at the moment the Tyrannosaurus died. She saw several new pieces of data.
Physical Strength: ??? Spiritual Power: ??? Inside the Tyrannosaurus's body, even more terrifying creatures were lurking.
Red fluids started continuously spewing from the decapitated spot, and the fluid fell onto the ground while dots of red, like flames, shot up from the dinosaur's corpse.
Constantly wriggling, a boneless serpent-like creature emerged from the Tyrannosaurus's body. It had no eyes or limbs. This strange prehistoric creature, as if removing its clothing, shed the Tyrannosaurus's outer skin.
"Sss," a spurt of fluid sprayed towards Number Zero and Colonel Barton. Both rolled out of the car, leaving behind a thick, viscous pool of blood where they had been sitting.
"Analysis ineffective, this creature is beyond our shared database," flashed the same message in the minds of Number Zero and NPC Maggie. If even the species could not be clearly identified, then figuring out how to combat it was even more elusive.
"Mum," NPC Maggie had never encountered a prehistoric creature with all question marks for values. Other than appearing like a snake and covered in slime, there was no other information available.
Several patrol cars stopped in front of the strange creature; the continuous sonic transmission had no effect, only angering it further, causing it to spray large amounts of viscous fluid.
Smooth-bodied, devoid of any organ features, meaning no ears – the sonic waves didn't affect it. The sky was gloomy; the creature, sticking close to the ground, crawled forward. Its movements were sluggish; with every wriggle, the soil under it was pushed forward. Rocks cracked, vegetation was crushed into mulch, and the flat mud was soon pushed into a straight trench plunging forward. Its direction was toward Kapa Military District.
Colonel Patton, originally planning to retreat, stopped; all the soldiers of the Government Army turned back toward Kapa Military District behind them.
This strange creature, its target was the military district behind them. It would destroy the district.
"No," Colonel Patton snatched a gun from a soldier and fired at the strange creature. The bullets couldn't penetrate the thick layer of slime and ultimately ended up in nearby soil, "You will not destroy the district, it contains all our efforts!"
Even Colonel Washington was somewhat moved. Emigrating to this prehistoric era, what they truly had to compete against were not fellow humans but these strange organisms that could easily crush all their hopes.
As night fell completely, no one could stop the strange creature from advancing. On such a desperate night, there was still a moon.
The soldiers' despondent expressions, the overturned soil and the long trail of slime were a chaotic sight under the moonlight.
A similar slime, seen somewhere before, Zero remembered something and breaking into a run, she left those desperate people behind and ran toward the military region.
The nearest residence, if she could find it, would surely be enough. As the strange creature advanced, the soldiers gradually retreated; their home, the land they fought for, was falling bit by bit.
"Move aside," Zero returned with a chipped boning knife in her left hand and a jar in her right. She powered forward and suddenly charged at the strange creature.
White particles were scattered all at once, and the fearless creature in the face of sonic waves, infrared, and lasers sensed an ominous presence.
"Is that? Salt?" Exclaimed Expert Sophia. What Zero brought back as a weapon was just an ordinary bottle of table salt. When everyone thought Zero had gone mad, NPC Maggie's eyes widened and she shrieked, "Did Zero guess what it is? It's a leech."
Yes, a leech. On the fourth day into the prehistoric era, Zero squashed a tree leech, recognizing this strange creature by its peculiar shape and similar slime, sucking the blood from its hosts – a mutant leech never discovered in human history.
You might have grown as tall as a mountain, mightier than even a bulldozer, but you are still just a leech. When Zero sprinkled the salt, her expression and stance were like the all-saving bodhisattva Guanyin.
Salt became a weapon more deadly than any other item. When the first grain of salt touched the mutant leech, it curled up. What seemed like indestructible skin tore open.
The chipped boning knife immediately plunged in, blood – whether it was the leech's, a dinosaur's or the blood of hundreds of prehistoric creatures buried in the stomach of this gigantic leech – burst forth like a deluge, like a waterfall.
"Zero!" Amid countless calls, Zero felt a momentary choke before her. The blood enveloped her like an airtight silken cocoon.
