Zhang Yiyi first encountered basketball at the age of two, not long after she learned to walk. Back then, her parents were not yet divorced, and she had an enviable family; her mother was a businesswoman and her father a retired player from the national basketball team.
Her father, once an outstanding basketball player, had to step back due to a spinal injury during a match, becoming a basketball coach at Tianjin Sports School.
