While Randy was in the dungeon, his dog friends were back in the cage, thinking things through. Eliza started talking to herself and said, "No one has ever stood up for me like that. Oh, I'm sure he's fine down there. But what if he's not? He could be at the mercy of a horrible beast. Wait, he did try to tell me he wasn't a dog, but he forgot to mention the small detail that he's a werewolf. But he took the blame for you, just as a true friend would. True friend." Eliza looked at the other dogs and said, "Why are you just standing around? We have to save Randy, come on." Danny said, "Well, glad you're in touch with so many of your feelings. See, it's always good to vent." Eliza looked up and saw an air vent. Eliza said, "Vent. Danny, you're a genius."
Since he was stuck down there anyway, Randy looked around the dungeon, but didn't see the monster down there with him. Meanwhile, the dogs towered over each other to get to the vent, and they opened it. Then Winnie and Joey crawled in since they were small enough, and Eliza spoke into the vent. Eliza said, "Ok, get out through the vent and free us by pushing the same button Duke's owner pushes when you get to the door. Winnie and Joey walked through the vent, and when they found an opening, they jumped out and landed outside the cage. Then Joey lifted Winnie, and she pushed the same button Abby did to open the door, and they opened it too. Once they were free, the dogs followed Eliza to the dungeon where Randy was, and Eliza made sure they didn't get caught.
Meanwhile, Randy saw some chains rattling and an oversized fur coat moving. Randy started to get scared, so he ran for an opening on the wall and jumped up it. Randy said, "No, don't eat me. HELP!" The dogs heard Randy shouting for help, so they followed him. Eliza said, "Randy." While the dogs were searching for Randy, Abby tested the machine that she and Randy's Uncle Max had made. The dogs overheard Abby's phone call and were wondering what her machine did. Abby put a small and a big stuffed animal on the conveyor belt, pushed the button, and when it activated, both stuffed animals went inside. Then the small one came out as a wig, and the big one came out as a fur coat. Abby then called Max, and when he heard his phone ring, he answered it. Max said, "Hello." Abby said, "The machine is ready." Max said, "Good. I have the remote. Just give me the signal, and it's a dog-free world." Max then hung up, and Abby did too. The dogs heard their phone call and then continued their search for Randy.
While the dogs were looking for him, Randy slid back into the dungeon and landed right by the beast. Randy then heard the beast growling and got scared. Randy said, "Ok, fine, do it, eat me. Just get it over with." The beast said, "Yuck." Randy said, "Huh?" Randy looked at the beast, which was hiding in the shadows, and listened to it. The beast said, "I don't eat dog. Filthy animals." Randy asked, "What? You can speak?" The beast asked, "What are you doing here? And how can you understand me?" Randy lifted his arm that had the watch on it and said, "Me? Well, well...?" When the beast noticed the insignia on the watch, he recognized it. Then he grabbed Randy and tried to get the watch from him. The beast asked, "Where did you steal this from?" Randy yanked on his watch, trying to get free, and said, "I didn't steal it. It was given to me."
Randy fell to the ground, and his watch came off in the process. The beast then dropped the watch and gave Randy a good sniff. The beast said, "No, it can't be. Randy?" Randy said, "Huh?" Randy watched as the beast emerged from the shadows and stepped into the light. When he did, Randy saw it was his father. Randy said, "What? Dad?" Randy got excited and said, "Oh, Dad, it's me." Rodney said, "Oh, Randy." Randy and Rodney then hugged, because they hadn't seen each other in three years. Randy said, "I thought you were dead." Rodney said, "Me too, son. Me too." Rodney then told Randy what had happened to him that night, accompanied by a flashback.
Rodney said, "Get away from the edge." Rodney tried to warn Hunter, but Hunter didn't speak the werewolf language. Hunter then fell off the edge, screaming, and Rodney saved him. Rodney said, "Randy, he doesn't understand me. Tell him I'm trying to help him." Randy said, "Sir, he's trying to help you." Hunter climbed back up to the edge while Rodney fell off the side. Randy shouted, "DAD!" Once Rodney hit the bottom, he was a little too weak to get up. Rodney said, "I was weak from that fall, but I was determined to get back home to you and your mother, Randy." The animal control officers then found Rodney, caught him, and threw him in the dungeon for three years. Rodney said, "Even though they arrested me, I still didn't lose hope. I was still determined to escape and get home, or better yet, the pack would find me, and they did." Three years ago, Randy's Uncle Max came into the dungeon and found Rodney. Max said, "Well, call of the wild, you're alive. You had your turn to lead the pack, brother. Now it's mine."
Max then cuffed Rodney's arm with a silver cuff. Rodney said, "What? Silver?" Max said, "Just in case." Rodney tried escaping, but he couldn't break free from his shackles. Rodney shouted, "MAX!" Rodney then ended the flashback and said, "And I've been down here ever since. So, you're a sled dog now." Randy said, "Yes, I know it's not what you wanted, but I enjoy it. I mean, sure, I have purple fur and look like a dog, but I also look like a wolf, and that's what we are. I can even stand on two legs like you." Randy then stood on two legs, and Rodney was proud of him.
Once the dogs found the dungeon door, Danny tried opening it, but the door was locked. Eliza spotted the keys by the door and said, "Um, maybe we should try those." Eliza stood on her high legs and grabbed them with her mouth. Then she put they keys in the keyhole and Danny tried opening the door again. Once they got the door open, they ran down the stairs to save Randy. Ace said, "Hold on, Randy, we're coming." The dogs hurried down into the dungeon, and once they got down there, they saw Randy and Rodney asleep together. Eliza whispered, "Sush. Stay here." Eliza snuck over to Randy and Rodney and woke up Randy.
Once Randy woke up, he saw Eliza. Randy asked, "Eliza? Why are you down here?" Eliza pointed at the other dogs and said, "We heard you shout for help and came to save you." Randy said, "Oh, right. False alarm." Randy then woke up his father. Rodney asked, "Randy, what is it?" Randy said, "Dad, meet my friends. Guys, my dad." Eliza said, "No way." Danny said, "Oh, yeah, I see the resemblance." Rodney said, "You all came back to save my son?" Winnie said, "Yes. From you." Randy said, "Well, he won't harm us. As long as I'm his family and you're my friends." Ace said, "We have to get out of here. The commander has made a machine that will turn us all into hair nests that will go on human heads and backs." Randy thought about it and said, "Fur nests?" Randy then remembered the wig store he thought looked suspicious and figured out what Eliza meant. He also figured out what Eliza meant when she said a fur nest that goes on a human back.
Randy said, "Wigs and coats. They're going to turn us into wigs and coats." Eliza said, "And your uncle has the button to activate the machine." Randy said, "Then we have to stop them." Rodney said, "Most definitely. But I can't move while I'm chained." Eliza said, "Good thing I brought the keys down here in case we got locked in." Eliza used the keys to unlock Rodney's shackles and free him. Once Rodney was free, they all busted out of the dungeon and hurried to find a way out of the pound. Eliza said, "What now? We escape, get the ring back, and you change into a better werewolf to stop your uncle?" Randy said, "Pretty much." Eliza said, "Too bad. The Alaskan Malamute was growing on me."
