Back in the bedroom, the women stirred under the sheets.
Victoria got up first, tossing the sheets aside as she pulled herself to the bathroom. She turned on the shower, propped her back against the wall and slid to the floor. A minute later, Janet walked in, running her hair through her heavy locs. Her eyes were glossy, glazed with exhaustion as she pulled the glass door open. She found Victoria on the floor, knees bunched up, with her head facing the wet floor. Janet sat opposite her, taking the same sitting position.
"Hey."
"Hi."
They stayed silent, turning their minds back to the wet floor and the sound of splashing water. The glass walls fogged over as the water hit their bodies.
Although the air wasn't tense, you could easily tell that they were both thinking of something to say. Janet kept going over the morning's events and how quickly things turned on its head. All she wanted was to kick Victoria out and offer herself to Darren. Victoria wasn't having any of it.
