Chapter 46 - You Are More Alike Than You Realise

" Little Akira, these are the books you need to memorize if you want to become a competent Celestial spirit. " Layla said as she placed a small mountain of books on the big table in front of Akira.

Akira wanted to correct that it was not he who wanted to be a Celestial Spirit, but after a quick glance at the books, he changed his mind. All these books are very precious as they contain the entire legacy of the Heartfilia family.

Seeing Akira reading the books with such interest, Layla smiled as she walked out of the study, not wanting to disturb him. Even though she accepted Ophiuchus's condition to teach him, she was not in a hurry. Learning celestial spirit magic is not easy and takes many years to fully master.

And besides, she was still the Lady of the Heartfilia mansion, so she had many other duties to attend to.

Akira, although he noticed Layla's departure, didn't say anything. He was too busy reading these wonderful books. These books contain the history, abilities, and even the personalities of almost every Celestial Spirit.

Reading these books, Akira felt like he could get a PhD in Celestial Spirit Magic. All the knowledge collected here was too precious.

As Akira was absorbed, he suddenly felt someone tapping him on the shoulder. Looking back, he saw that it was a slender, well-endowed young woman with blue eyes and shoulder-length dark blonde hair. She had a smile that somehow reminded Akira of a snake.

"Hehehe, I like your dedication, kid. I knew my choice was not wrong; with this level of dedication and your natural talent, you would definitely become the best Celestial Spirit Wizard in all of history, " the woman said with a wide smile.

" Ophiuchus " Akira looked at the woman in front of him before asking in shock. He tried to use his unique skill on her and found that it didn't work on her. Just like how his ability didn't work on Ophiuchus.

"Bingo, " Ophiuchus said as she took a seat next to him.

"What are you doing here and in that form? " Akira asked as he eyed Ophiuchus. He didn't think Ophiuchus came to meet him on a whim.

"Well, I was just too curious about you, so I decided that I would come by to visit and check your progress, " Ophiuchus said as he picked up one book and took a good glance at it. Reading the title on it, she paused for a moment.

" ' Encyclopedia of Celestial Spirits,' huh? Now this is a rather interesting book. " Saying so, Ophiuchus completely ignored Akira and continued her reading.

Seeing Ophiuchus like this, Akira groaned while releasing a tired sigh. From their earlier interactions, he guessed Ophiuchus might have a quirky personality, but it seems he kind of underestimated how quirky she could get.

This celestial spirit is as curious as a cat and is as whimsical as a woman's heart. Akira wondered whether he should really make a contract with her.

' Well, it doesn't matter anyway; it's not like I will use celestial spirit magic regularly in the future. ' Akira thought inwardly.

Although he could master almost every magic like the Magic King August, he had his own preferences. For example, his main magics are illusion magic and Takeover Magic. To support these two magics, he used elemental magic and other support magic like enchantment magic.

And his new celestial spirit magic would only become one of his many support magics. After all, his fighting style is already very clear. He is someone who likes to swing a sword rather than command an army.

With these thoughts, Akira once again engrossed himself with the book he was reading. This book is about some ruins that were built to worship celestial spirits in the past. As an archaeologist, he was very interested in such places.

Like this, the study once again descended into silence. One celestial spirit and boy read their respective books in silence. If Layla were here, she would remark that these two are really compatible. Their thirst for knowledge and total concentration is quite remarkable.

….

Time went on as Akira continued to learn from Layla. To Akira's surprise, Celestial Spirit Magic isn't all about finding a key and summoning a celestial spirit and letting them battle. No, like all magic, there are basics that all wizards must master.

For Celestial Spirit Magic, one must be able to convert their mana into what you would call spirit mana. It is this mana that celestial spirits use to supply their celestial spirit with during the fight, as celestial spirits couldn't use their own magic power freely in the human world.

After learning how to convert his magic power into spirit mana, Akira's next lesson was to increase his spirit mana quality and quantity. This is very important for a celestial spirit wizard, as this would decide their battle prowess. The larger one's spirit mana is, the more he can use to buff his celestial spirit, and similarly, when a celestial spirit wizard's spirit mana density surpasses a certain limit, he can command multiple celestial spirits at once.

When Akira learned this, he had an epiphany. He remembered there was a scene in the future where a celestial spirit wizard named Angel managed to open two gates at once, while Lucy, who had more magic power than her, could only open one at a time.

So it turned out that despite Lucy having a large quantity of spirit mana, her mana density was still not enough for double gate summoning.

Keeping this in mind, Akira decided that he would need to improve both the quality and quantity of his spirit mana while training. He had a feeling that he might be able to do something cool if he managed to get all things done smoothly.

As Akira continued to learn and hone his magic, the day for their departure arrived.

Akira and Gildarts, fully packed, stood by the gate as they looked at Layla and little Lucy, who came to send them off.

" Thank you for letting us stay all these days, Lady Layla. We really appreciate everything you have done for us, Gildarts said as he thanked Layla with a formal tone befitting of an S-rank wizard.

" No this is merely what we promised, so please don't mind it, "Layla said with a smile. She then looked at Akira and said, "Little Akira I have no doubt that you will definitely become a famous and strong wizard in the future. But I hope you won't forget the celestial spirit magic you learned from me at that time. "

She really meant those words. During these few days, she learned what it was to be a monster in human skin. Akira absorbed all her teaching in days and managed to become the youngest celestial wizard in history. All he is now missing is a celestial key to make a contract. But that would be covered in a few years.

Truth be told, Layla wanted to hand over Ophiuchus's key to him since, compared to her, he was the one who needed it the most. And since she had already gotten Ophiuchus's promise, she didn't fear not being able to complete her family mission. But Akira refused, saying that he would formally take it in a few years.

Although she didn't know why he was so insistent, she didn't refuse. She just hoped Akira wouldn't bury his talent in celestial spirit magic for other magic.

"Don't worry, Lady Layla. I will keep those words in mind. " Akira said with a polite smile.

Then after saying goodbye to little Lucy, the two of them departed from the Heartfilia mansion. They have a train to catch up to.

"Goodbye, see you again. "Little Lucy waved her hands as she saw Akira and Gildarts walking far away.

Both of them also waved back and resumed their journey. Makarov had already contacted them and informed them that it was safe to return since the council members had already left Magnolia.
