While the federal government's latest shenanigans sparked cries of excitement and anguish across universities in the US, on this particular day, other than the news that students would be getting an additional year of school, the real topic of discussion in my class, and probably my department, was my status.
At first, I thought it was just the two girls approaching, but as they hovered over me with predatory eyes, I noticed several others in the room had also turned their attention to me. I could hear the shift in conversation as beings paused mid-sentence.
