Contrary to what Ethan had expected, Clara's eyes narrowed once she had heard his answer, her attitude turning colder.
"Is that so?" she asked, lifting her brows. "Do you truly have feelings for him… Or are you just interested in him because he's a powerful Esper? Or because he's handsome?"
Ethan's face twitched. That's not how it was supposed to go… But he still maintained his calm. "Of course not! He's… He's an amazing person!"
"Of course he is," Clara rolled her eyes. "It's just that… How long have you even known him?"
"Well…"
"TRULY known him. I'm not asking how long it's been since you've first met," Clara specified before Ethan could answer. After all, they might have run into each other a year or more ago because of work… But so what? Such a brief encounter would be meaningless. It might have been enough for someone to develop a crush, but not true, deeper feelings.
