Chapter 26 - Chapter 25. "All that matters."

Hey, Kid!

And all of you loyal Readers!

I hope you all have been as well as well can be in these weird times, yeah?

I know I've been away for a while...and for that, I am genuinely sorry.

Life tends to just get in the way of what we WANT to do in order to push us to what we NEED to do.

At least mine seems to work that way! lol.

Mayhap one day all of this will pay off, and I can retire and sit around writing stories and poetry all day.

Mayhap it won't, and I will just keep working full-time will the day I die WHILE writing stories and poetry lol.

Either one works for me.

For all I know, YOU still don't exist in this world just yet, Kid...

For all I know, you never will.

But I'll write for you, and all of these good folk, till I can't anymore.

Till there isn't much left in me to say.

Till the last Reader stops reading.

I will see you all back here soon enough.

Enjoy.

Dear You.

Hey little one.

How's it going in your time zone?

Timeline?

I don't know,

But if you are reading this, then you are alive, and that is all that matters.

The consumers smoke my cigs faster than I do!

Humph!

-Dad.

-----

"The Consumers" is so horrible...

That is what the medical company I worked for at the time would have us refer to the plethora of patients that we were working with daily...

I used to work as an R.C.W. or Residential Care Worker for a while back between 2018-2020, and man, I tell you...some of those homes and facilities need to be investigated and shut down immediately.

It is truly sad and heartbreaking that we have so many sick elderly folk within our communities, and no one seems to care enough to care for them properly...

The state seems not to care much, so they will not pay the staff they have well enough to do and be better...

If I were wealthy, I would do what I could to make a difference, even if I could just get a single home to convert into an elderly facility of my own, I am sure I could find some good, moral folk to help me run and maintain it.

A boy can only dream, yeah?

- I hated that so many of my patients had horrible addictions to smoking cigarettes, so much so that I would do my best not to give them one of their own whenever I could.

But alas, some of them had so little to live for -seemingly- and even no family or friends to come visit, so I would cave.

They deserved at least a tiny spark of happiness, did they not?

If smoking was that tiny spark, who was I to snuff it out?

I have many stories from my days in that facility, many that will have to wait for another time, lbvs.

I will write that "Stories for Another Time" book for you all, you have my word.

I am working on several books at once, and I will get to that once this book is finished.

I will see you all back here soon enough, yeah?

That includes YOU, Kid.

I love you.

All OF YOU.

Thank you for being so loyal.

See you soon, yeah?

Safe travels, folks.

And as always?

Stay safe.

Stay healthy.

Stay vigilant.

-Redd.
