Chapter 235 - Chapter 234

What was I thinking?!! He shook his head vigorously, casting aside those unnecessary thoughts. Now wasn't the time to dwell on such matters.

Was Morin a member of the Phantom Troupe? Was he involved in the massacre of Kurapika's clan? All these questions could wait until after he passed this test.

There would be plenty of time to ask Morin then!!

Gon, with his straightforward mindset, simply planned to ask Morin directly when he saw him.

"Right now, my goal is to get Hisoka's badge!!" Reaffirming his target, Gon's eyes focused intensely once more.

Outside.

"It's precisely because of having top-tier world-class strength that one has the right to challenge and fight!!" Hisoka's mouth curled into a widening grin.

"A world-class delicious apple, if picked and tasted, must be incredibly delightful!!"

"Just thinking about the top-tier, ripest fruit makes it impossible to resist!!" Hisoka's hands clenched tightly, his pupils flickering continuously.

"These past days, the sweet and fragrant aroma of that delicious juice has been seeping into my mind, making it impossible not to be captivated every moment." A deck of cards appeared in Hisoka's hand, shuffling like an accordion.

"If I didn't have a clear understanding of myself and him, I might have already succumbed to the temptation."

His tone carried a hint of self-mockery. "But it's a good thing you held back."

Illumi nodded slightly, "It's precisely because of your self-control that I consider you a qualified partner."

"After working together so many times, you should have a little faith in me, right?" Hisoka pursed his lips.

"It's not a matter of confidence or lack thereof. Even if you don't cause trouble for him, he might still come after you later." Illumi shook his head slowly, "After all, his title is 'The Tool Master.'"

"He could easily put you in a grave without using any strength, just with those bizarre tools of his." He shrugged, "I'm worried that one day, you'll die just like that, without even realizing it."

"You should know, his desire for revenge might be quite intense." Illumi recalled his father and grandfather, their hair, eyebrows, and clothes scorched. And the mission that his father and grandfather sent Maha on.

"If I die without feeling or realizing it, that's fine." Hisoka seemed quite accepting of it, "As long as I don't have any lingering conscious regrets, I'm quite willing to embrace death before you."

"You're truly a madman."

"Hehe, likewise."

The two of them rarely talked for so long.

"Alright, after all this talk, you've really piqued my interest." Hisoka patted himself and slowly stood up. "Next, I need to start my test too, right?"

"This round of testing is the one I've been most satisfied with these days." The hunt and being hunted truly suited Hisoka's taste.

"Then I won't need this; you can have it." Illumi casually tossed a badge to Hisoka.

"Whose is this?" Hisoka glanced at the number on it. Unfortunately, it wasn't his target.

"It was a woman who attacked me with a gun. I killed her in a fit of rage." Illumi said as he pulled various needles from his head. His face twitched.

"Hehehe, every time I see you change your face, I find it amusing."

"You have no idea how uncomfortable it is."

A cascade of long hair fell onto his shoulders, and his signature vacant eyes were set on that tender, soft-lined face. There was an unusual beauty in its fragility. Yet, hidden behind this beauty was cold-blooded cruelty.

In the world of Hunter x Hunter, Illumi, one of the three beauties, made his appearance.

"Ah, much better." Illumi exhaled slightly in relief. Then, like a groundhog, he began digging a hole in the ground. He dug until the depth was enough to cover his entire body.

"I'm going to sleep here until the day of the gathering." Illumi gave Hisoka one last piece of encouragement: "Do your best!"

"Goodnight."

---

Swipe! With that, Illumi buried his head in the ground. The soil covered his head, making it seem like he was buried alive.

Hisoka tossed the badge number ## from the female gunslinger, Shiba, seemingly lost in thought. Until the sun dipped low and the starry night descended...

"Well then," he began to move his feet. "Still two points short. Let's continue hunting for the remaining prey." Hisoka's form moved slowly.

Meanwhile, in the nearby thicket, separated by a distance, "This time, I must succeed!!" Gon, having witnessed the entire process earlier, cleared his mind of distractions. His sole focus was on obtaining Hisoka's badge. He tailed Hisoka closely, without a moment's pause.

At this moment, the situation for the various examinees:

Illumi successfully gathered six points and buried himself to sleep.

Morin effortlessly collected six points at record speed and was the first to pass, waiting on the beach.

Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua successfully seized the badges from the Amori brothers and quietly hid in a secluded spot.

Tonpa, through cunning, stabbed Sommy in the back and successfully took his badge, heading toward a fate entirely different from the original story, reaching the final test.

Hanzo, the ninja, after acquiring his target badge, used his special ninja abilities to hide.

Botobai defeated his destined opponent, Sedokan, and also obtained his pass to the final test.

Thus far, eight examinees have passed this round of testing. And those who haven't passed? Ponzu, as usual, followed the snake charmer, Bourbon, into a dark cave and fell into his trap.

Frightened by the snakes, the bees she carried stung Bourbon to death. She herself couldn't escape the cave, which had only one exit but was filled with venomous snakes.

She could only wait for the test to end in a few days, for the examination committee to find her location via the badge's radio signal and rescue her.

Pokkle was still desperately searching for other examinees. Unfortunately, the other examinees had either completed the test and hidden quietly or had been defeated and had their badges taken, thus being eliminated.

Currently, there were only six remaining who hadn't been eliminated and hadn't found their target to qualify. One was Pokkle. Another was Hisoka, along with Gon trailing behind him. And following Gon was number 34, Leita, the mantis stalking the cicada unaware of the oriole behind.

The other two, number 362, Kenmi, and number 21, Agen, had coincidentally encountered each other. When Hisoka stood on a high slope, crouched on a rock, and made an "OK" gesture with his hand, peering through the circle formed by his fingers into the distance...

"Found them." At the edge of his vision, number 21, Agon, dressed in blue with a katana at his waist, was engaged in battle with number 362, Kenmi, sporting a buzz cut and thick eyebrows with eyes too small to see.

"Two people, just right?!" Hisoka touched the badge on his chest. "With these two, I'll have enough points. Truly lucky."

Regardless of whether either of those two was Hisoka's target, he already had enough points.

"Two people?" Behind Hisoka, Gon became tense. "If Hisoka's target is among those two, he only needs to strike once to achieve his goal. Which means... I only have one chance left."

"The only concern now is... if those two, out of fear of Hisoka, unconditionally hand over their badges to him...!!!" Gon suddenly realized, "How foolish of me!! I hadn't considered this at all!!!" He clutched his head in frustration.

But in the next moment, Gon froze. He felt an overwhelming killing intent, like a tsunami crashing toward him.
