Kai had clearly seen the sparks dancing across Chinchou's body but he didn't flinch.
He simply watched, expression calm, as his Blastoise slammed into the Electric-type with the force of a runaway truck.
Chinchou didn't stand a chance.
The moment it was struck, its small body was launched backward nearly eight meters, skipping across the surface like a stone before crashing into the water with a huge splash.
The hit landed exactly as intended… but Blastoise paid the price.
Electric shocks coursed through its body. It grimaced, its muscles locking up, and its movements slowed drastically.
Paralyzed.
Kai clenched his jaw. That was the worst possible outcome at this stage.
Moments later, Chinchou's head surfaced. It shook off the daze from the impact, blinking rapidly before refocusing on Blastoise. The glowing antennae atop its head began sparking once more.
Kai's expression hardened. He shook his head.
Before Chinchou could unleash another bolt, Kai withdrew Blastoise.
A beam of red light pulled the exhausted Pokémon back into its Poké Ball.
"Oh?" the announcer's voice rang out over the arena, brimming with energy. "Kai chooses not to press the fight and instead recalls his Blastoise! Could it be? Are we finally going to see his second Pokémon in this match?!"
The crowd stirred.
Trinity tensed.
Even Erika, Ash, Misty, and Brock all leaned forward, eyes fixed on the field.
Every camera turned to Kai. At that moment, he was the center of the entire stadium's attention.
Kai said nothing. He simply clipped Blastoise's Poké Ball back to his belt and slowly reached for the next one.
He exhaled deeply, closed his eyes for a brief moment, then opened them with quiet resolve.
'All right, partner… show them who you really are.'
With a sharp motion, he hurled the Poké Ball forward.
A flash of light exploded over the water.
The stadium went silent as the rippling surface parted and then, it emerged.
A massive, crimson Gyarados rose above the waves, towering over the battlefield.
This was its first public appearance since its evolution, and it dominated the space the moment it arrived.
Before anyone could fully register its sheer size, a thunderous roar tore through the air—
ROOOAARRR!!!
The sound was deafening, echoing through the arena like a primal warcry. It shook the scaffolding, made the audience cover their ears, and left the nearest cameramen trembling, barely holding onto their gear.
What presence.
This wasn't just a Gyarados it was something more.
The announcer stammered as he came back to his mic. "I-it's here! That's Kai's Gyarados! This Pokémon already made headlines during the Indigo League and the Orange League but wait… w-wasn't his Gyarados blue?!" (Yeah! I know I know, I have made a mistake previously, so I corrected it here)
He scrambled to check his notes. Everything listed Gyarados as a standard, non-shiny variant. But the monster floating before them now…
"Could this be a newly caught one? But… shiny Pokémon are supposed to be rare color variants only different in appearance, but not in power. So why is this one so massive?!"
He wasn't the only one asking.
The entire audience was now murmuring with uncertainty and awe.
Because in this world, while weird things happened every day, no one had ever heard of a Pokémon just… transforming into a shiny. Much less growing this huge in the process.
Kai remained stone-faced as the crowd erupted into speculation.
He knew the truth.
This red Gyarados wasn't an ordinary shiny. Its scarlet scales were the result of genetic modification Team Rocket biotech layered with power-enhancing experiments.
It wasn't just rare.
It was engineered to dominate.
And as far as intimidation went… it was working.
No one felt the pressure more than Trinity.
Standing in her command zone, she found herself face-to-face with glowing red eyes that locked directly onto her, and her knees nearly gave out.
She knew Gyarados. She had one herself. But this… this thing?
This wasn't a Gyarados. This was a beast.
A creature that seemed like it had crawled out of a nightmare.
Its body dwarfed her own Gyarados by two, maybe even three times. The roar still rang in her ears, and she had to fight the instinct to turn and run.
And then she saw it.
Chinchou.
Her partner was trembling uncontrollably.
It was actually shaking.
She blinked in disbelief. "Wait… is it… scared?"
Chinchou tilted its head to look at the towering red leviathan. It seemed to shrink under that gaze, and even from her position, Trinity could tell—
It wanted to flee.
"Chinchou, snap out of it!"
She called to it over and over, hoping her words would restore its courage.
But it didn't help.
If anything, the fear only deepened. Chinchou's body language screamed panic it barely looked able to stand still, let alone fight.
Trinity's stomach dropped.
She understood what was happening now.
Intimidate.
That Gyarados had Intimidate as its ability and its pressure was no joke. But it wasn't just the ability. The killing intent radiating from its every move, every breath, was almost tangible.
It felt like death itself had entered the arena.
Her mind reeled.
How do you even train a Pokémon like that?
And even more terrifying…
What kind of Trainer does it take to tame something so monstrous?
