Chapter 159: At That Moment, the Memory Changed

When Amon heard the system prompt, his heart stirred.

Were new features starting to emerge after the system upgrade?

Could history really be modified on a small scale by consuming an Intertwined Fate?

Although there were restrictions on the extent of modifications, as long as the Historical Void was used wisely, there was a chance...

She could be alive again.

Amon didn't hesitate. He immediately consumed one of his Intertwined Fates.

An ancient book appeared before him, visible and usable only to him.

The book, dark gold and yellow-black in color, looked heavy and was coated with a layer of dust. Its pages, slightly yellowed, carried the scent of time—traces of countless years gone by.

Amon opened the ancient book and began searching through the Historical Void.

Finally, he found the pivotal sentence:

"Inazuma's first general, Raiden Makoto, died unexpectedly in the Khaenri'ah War."

With determination, Amon picked up a pen and erased the original words.

In their place, he carefully wrote:

"To the public, Raiden Makoto passed away. However, in reality, Raiden Makoto survived the Battle of Khaenri'ah. After sleeping for many years, she awakened as an ordinary person, no longer involved in worldly affairs or holding any power."

Amon thought to himself, This rewrite shouldn't be considered a major historical change.

The outside world would believe that Makoto had passed away, while the real Makoto could live on as an ordinary girl.

Satisfied with his adjustments, Amon stared at the history book, waiting for the system's response.

The system approved his use of authority, confirming that the changes to the Historical Void of Teyvat had been successfully implemented.

The words Amon had written remained on the page, unaltered.

Moments later, the ancient book closed its pages, emitted a faint golden light, and then disappeared.

At that moment, history changed silently.

---

Raiden Ei stood still, gazing silently at the sea of cherry blossoms drifting in the air, slowly vanishing.

Her figure looked lonely and desolate.

The mighty Thunder General, wielder of the authority of lightning, was at her core just a girl—one who feared loneliness and deeply mourned.

The bond between the two sisters was one of complete dependence.

If one left, the other lost their purpose to live.

Ei gripped her sword tightly.

She resolved to honor her sister's will by making Inazuma a peaceful land free from sorrow and pain.

If my sister can see this from the heavens, she will surely be proud.

She will surely smile...

Just as Raiden Ei was lost in thought, a soft voice called from behind her:

"Ei..."

That familiar voice made Raiden Ei whirl around instinctively.

There stood her sister, Raiden Makoto, smiling warmly.

"Ei, I'm back."

"I'm sorry for leaving you alone for so long."

"From now on, I'll stay by your side."

Ei froze for a moment before running toward Makoto and hugging her tightly, just like she used to long ago.

Feeling the warmth of Makoto's body, Ei clung to her even more desperately.

Makoto looked at Ei lovingly and teased, "Why are you so afraid I'll disappear?"

"Alright, alright. I promise—I won't leave again. Is that okay?"

Although Makoto wasn't used to her sister's overwhelming enthusiasm, she returned the hug tightly.

"Really..."

"Am I dreaming?" Ei finally asked softly, raising her head to look at Makoto.

She feared that when she woke up, Makoto would vanish again.

Makoto chuckled at her sister's silly expression.

"Ei, how could this be a dream?" she said, pinching Ei's cheek gently.

"Does that hurt?"

Ei tilted her head slightly and replied truthfully, "It doesn't hurt."

Makoto sighed, realizing she had forgotten her sister's pursuit of ultimate martial arts.

A gentle pinch wouldn't affect her at all.

"Fine, pinch yourself," Makoto said, exasperated.

Obediently, Ei pinched her own cheek.

"Does it hurt now?"

"A little," Ei admitted.

"Well, if it hurts, it's not a dream."

Ei nodded, falling silent. But after a moment, she asked again, "Are you really... here?"

Makoto smiled warmly, but a flicker of sadness crossed her eyes.

"Ei, can't you recognize your own sister?"

She leaned closer and whispered, "Your right ankle was injured once, and I found medicine for you. And there's a mole on your inner thigh and lower abdomen—"

Before Makoto could finish, Ei quickly covered her mouth, her face flushed.

"Please don't say any more! I believe you're Makoto!"

These private details were known only to Makoto. There was no doubt in Ei's mind now.

Yet, confusion still lingered in her heart.

---

At that moment, Ei's memory seemed to shift.

When she had arrived in Khaenri'ah, Makoto had indeed been on the brink of death.

But now, she remembered someone appearing at the last moment—a figure who had given Makoto a potion that saved her life.

The image of the savior in her memory was blurry, as if shrouded in mist.

No matter how hard Ei tried to recall, she couldn't bring their face into focus.

She felt certain this was no natural lapse of memory.

Some unknown force had interfered, obscuring her recollection.

As Ei pondered this, her gaze fell on Amon's monocle.

During the Khaenri'ah War, the person who had saved her sister was Amon!

Even though the memory was faint, the monocle and the figure before her aligned perfectly.

Amon, standing opposite, looked bewildered.

"You two are hugging... why are you staring at me like that?"

"why I'm still here? Who am i?"

"Should I leave?"
