After knowing there is a person who visit the cell. She change her direction of vision. She stay up those rooftops that she can see any strange visitors who come to the cell. Day in day out she stay there, in the end she send her new fiends in to see if there is any changes. While Officer Zhou who is monitor Yu Bing is seeing that she is staking out at rooftops near the cell. So he is wondering what did she find out.
At home, while having dinner he try to talk to her. However his mother is not having her son working at home.
"Here daughter-in-law have this piece of meat. You are too skinny! How can you have a baby with that tiny waist of your's! Eat Eat!"
Officer Zhou nearly spit out the food in his mouth. He stare at Yu Bing who is eating in peace. He look at his mother who seems to be fine at this moment. He is glad that she is not looking sick anymore. While Yu Bing look at him with the big eyes, Officer Zhou recall the last scene where he saw before he gets knock off. A pair of charming eyes that seems to have sparks. He begin to doubt the young boy in front of him. That night, he walk out of the small bedroom he share with his mother. He see Yu Bang laying on the table in the courtyard, asleep. Bing'er curl up like a cat while the rats he is keeping are sleeping in a box that is on the floor. He goes back into the room and walk back out with a blanket. He cover gently on the sleeping boy however something cross his mind. He reach out to touch Yu Bing's face. This young boy's face feels cold, like cold jade. The scars on the face feels real too. Deep cuts that can feel and see the inside flesh. His hand move down to the neck with raise bumps like pimples on it and touch the bony shoulders. Yu Bing's body feels strange. Officer Zhou touch the chest of Yu Bing, it is flat like any other man. There is no chest binder like some girls would wear.
"Is that enough? Are you a pervert? I don't like men, you know."
He have a shock and retract his hand. Yu Bing sit up and stare at Zhou Lou Ming. Officer Zhou's moustache twitch again and he look away.
"Tomorrow i will set up a bed for you inside the room. I trust you since my mother trust you too."
"Too small inside. Outside here is windy and cooling"
"No the season is going to change soon.You better sleep inside. There is a corner that i can put a small bed for you."
"So Officer Zhou, are you a pervert?"
His face got red and he shot up from where he is sitting. He point to Yu Bing
"You stop with the nonsense! I am just checking your heart beat! Make sure you are not dead with this cold air!"
Yu Bing nod his head slowly and show him a face that says 'can i believe you?'.
"Go and sleep!"
Yu Bing watch him go in the room and shut the door. She smile and think that lucky her spells are good enough to trick any human. She must be better than those magicians on the streets, she smile and lay down.
The next day, Yu Bing and officer Zhou's mother watch him getting busy on his own. After cooking breakfast, he made the bed for Yu Bing. His neighbour come by again to take care of his mother. This time, the neighbour brings his mother to her living quarters so that Officer Zhou can do the work at home. Half a morning is gone. He complete setting up the bed and hurry to have breakfast. He is surprise there is quite a lot on his plate. He is happy and he see Yu Bing is playing with a dog outside the house. He hurry to wash the plates and he decided to clean himself up. After clean up, he starts to wash his long hair.
"Officer Zhou, let me help you."
"Do you know how to wash other people's hair?"
"Yes i used to wash other's hair when i am free. I even comb and tie them up neatly."
"Fine. Do mine."
He continue to squad there with his hair over the washing area. Somehow Yu Bing have walk off. He stand up with his hair all over the place to watch Bing'er dragging a chair over. Yu Bing have the chair face the other way so that the back of the chair is at the washing area.
"Sit. It is easier to wash like that."
He sit down and Bing'er push his head back. He feels that there is a towel under his neck. Yu Bing pull all of his hair towards the washing area.
"Officer i am going to start washing."
"Yes please go ahead. "
As the sun is shining he close his eyes with his hands cross on his belly. He feels Yu Bing's hands-on his hair. Later they are massaging his hair scape. It feels strange to him as he feels tingling sensation spreading over him. He try to calm himself down, the tingling moves up and down his body. His feet keep moving unnaturally like it is expressing a desirable feeling. Suddenly he hear a woman voice asking if he is fine. He refuse to answer but he want the strange feeling to stay and not go. He open his eyes to see Yu Bing looking at him with the sky behind him.
"Yes fine..."
"Officer Zhou then i will continue."
Bing'er continue to scrub and massage his scalp. This remind her the times when she wash Bai Lu's hair. as she scrub she want to go up the sky and look for her son. However now is not the time maybe after this is over, she will pay a visit. She continue to pour some rice water for the hair and rub them well. She later rinse them and pour some eggs mixed with honey on his hair. She carefully massage them on his hair and leave it for awhile before she rinse again. When she done with the rinsing, Yu Bing push Officer Zhou up. She tower dry his hair carefully. Later they sit on the table at the courtyard and she starts to comb his hair gently.
"While we are waiting for your hair to get dry, would you like to trim your moustache? "
Yu Bing hand him a mirror he look and sigh he can't remember the last time he actually have a clean face and his moustache actually have a little breakfast on it. He pick up the small piece of fried egg and put it in his mouth.
"Shave it off."
"Sure?"
"Hmm."
Yu Bing walk to the wash off area to find a small hand knife and a brush. Bing'er later bring a small bamboo cup to put some eggs and sugar in it. She whisk it up to make it full of foam. Officer Zhou lay down comfortable and wait for Bing'er to apply the foam and start shaving. The cool foam spread over his lower part of face and he feel the cold blade running slowly across his chin and later on the philtrum area. When Bing'er is done, the mirror is hand to him again. He looks like a young man again. He look at every angle and he see that Bing'er is about to throw away the left over eggs in the bamboo cup. He quickly turn around and yell at Bing'er.
"I want that!"
"You can't keep it. It will be rotten."
"I will cook it tonite. Leave it alone."
Hu Li look at the bamboo cup and mumble under her breath. 'hope you don't get tummy aches.' Officer Zhou wipe his face that he have towel his hair and get up. He look at the flowers that he keep at the corner and walks up to it. He remember that the last time he seen them, they are dying but why are they blooming now. Even there are new little buds growing. He turn around and look at Bing'er who is walking around barefooted bringing the chair back to where she find it. The miracle of life is unexplainable especially when comes to Yu Bing. What is he and who is he. Is he a he or a she. He continue to look at his new staff as the wind blow dry his long hair.
