Chapter 363 - Business As Usual

(Third Person POV)

[King's Landing]

Viserra walked into the King's Chambers, "Father...." She said as she entered the room, "Did you summon me?"

Jaehaerys was sitting on the table, writing on a letter as a candle was lit next to him, "Yes." He said, "Come. Sit."

Viserra walked over to the table and sat down, "W-What is it?"

The King set the quill down and let out a sigh, "After giving it some thought." He started, "We have gone ahead and decided on a suitor for you."

Viserra frowned, "What?" She said, "Wait, no. That's-"

"It's been years since we've brought up the topic." Jaehaerys said, "Your Mother and I have discussed it with many Houses during all the chaos....and well....we've come to a decision."

"No, Father, you cannot do that." Viserra said seriously, "I-"

"You are my daughter and a Princess." Jaehaerys said, "We need to keep acting like normal, forging alliances. Now that House Drakkengard and House Targaryen are in somewhat stable terms, we need to go back to how things are."

"You don't understand." Viserra frowned, "Father, you really don't understand. I cannot have a husband....."

"Tell me, why is that the case." Jaehaerys said, "I have reached out to House Stark. Lord Stark's eldest son is of age and requires a wife. It should be fine, you don't have a dragon and we have to establish a firm alliance with a House as prestigious as House Stark...."

Viserra stood up, "I am a Dragon Maiden!" She exclaimed, "I cannot be married to a man!"

Jaehaerys frowned, "And what does that mean?"

"I am Lord Drakken's Dragon Maiden...." She said seriously, "I am a member of the Trinity, I am not some daughter that can be sold to some Lord, he won't allow it!"

"You are my daughter above everything else." Jaehaerys said, "Surely, Drakken will see that."

"You are not listening to me!" Viserra scowled, "I am a Dragon Maiden! I must remain a Maiden to maintain my duties."

"I listen....and I understand." Jaehaerys said, "I don't agree with what that means, Viserra. A Dragon Maiden....allowing the Trinity to draw and defile your blood...."

"They're not defiling it!" Viserra exclaimed, "My blood is sacred to the Trinity! I am a maiden of dragon's blood, my blood is pure.....and it has pleased Lord Sol'Tyr."

Jaehaerys sighed, "I don't want to hear of this...." He said, "You will marry Lord Stark's son."

"And that is final."

************************

"Uhh...." Drakken said seriously, "No."

Alysanne frowned as she sat across from him, "What?" She said, "What do you mean, no?"

Drakken was laying on the couch, his hands behind his head as he looked at both the King and Queen, "What do you think I mean? You daft?" He asked, "I said no."

"We didn't ask you here for permission." Jaehaerys said, "We are letting you know what is going to happen."

Drakken looked at him, "Oh, is that so?" He asked, "What balls you got."

"Viserra is our daughter." Jaehaerys told her, "Any marriage arrangement should be our final say."

"Sure sure." Drakken started, "But she isn't just your daughter, she is my Dragon Maiden."

"What does that even mean??" Alysanne frowned

"It means that she is my loyal servant." Drakken said, "That's all you got to understand."

"We can't keep our daughters away from marriages simply because you say so." Jaehaerys said with a serious frown

Drakken sat up and faced them, "As a matter of fact, yes you can." He said with a slight smirk, "But....you can do as you please with the others. Viserra is off-limits, however....she is mine."

"Yours...." Alysanne's eye twitched, "Listen, Drakken....I-"

"I know what you're doing, Alysanne." Drakken said as he leaned back, "You want to avoid that future, don't you? I don't blame you.....being forced into Tyrian'Cal....by someone who you rarely know, especially who is much younger than you."

Jaehaerys narrowed his eyes, "You...."

"But doing this won't prevent that." Drakken tilted his head, "And think of who you're trying to marry her off to..."

"House Stark." Jaehaerys said, "I don't know if you are aware, but House Stark is-"

"I know what House Stark is." Drakken said, "I bored myself to sleep the moment I learned of them, such a stupid and ridiculous region; The North. Their sigil is a direwolf? An overgrown dog, that is all. And their whole deal is about Winter coming? Please....."

"They are an ancient and noble House." Jaehaerys told him, "They are men of honor and-"

"The Wall." Drakken cut him off, "House Stark built it, didn't they? What are they keeping away? Bunch of savages? Some ice demons? Please, what a fucking joke. Fifty Duskguard Knights will be enough to clean the region beyond the Wall....and I am not exaggerating."

"Why haven't you gone that way?" Alysanne asked

"It's not interesting." Drakken shrugged, "It's cold....it's stupid big...what do I get from going to The North? They don't have Dragonlords over there, do they? No, they don't. House Targaryen is down here, where its warm.....and here will I be, tormenting you lot."

"Or perhaps, you are afraid of the cold." Alysanne said

Drakken chuckled, "Haha, good one." He said, "The Archdragon Lorrayne once plunged an entire country into eternal winter, the temperatures dropping to levels that no ordinary human can ever survive. That creature liked it nice and quiet, to be alone...but only the strong survived in that place, those who can survive and adapt to the cold eventually evolved to be beings far beyond whatever those Ice Demons are. Trust me, I am not afraid of a little chill. I went to that country and killed the bitch myself."

"I'll pretend I understood any of that." Jaehaerys said, "Listen, our Houses have already discussed it. Lord Stark has accepted the offer; Viserra is marrying his son, Alaric."

"Alaric?" Drakken tilted his head, "I thought Alaric was dead."

"Named after his uncle, Lord Alaric Stark." Alysanne said, "Lord Stark's elder brother, who passed away. He had no surviving sons; they died in battle beyond the Wall."

Drakken rolled his eyes, "Of course." He said, "Bunch of weaklings."

"Alaric Stark will marry Viserra." Jaehaerys said, "I am sorry to say this. We have to move on and carry on normally, Drakken. That way, there will be no issues....no revolts....no conflicts."

"I like conflicts." Drakken smirked, "You know that."

"It is going to be done." Jaehaerys said

"No, it won't." Drakken said, "Don't make me have a little chat with Lord Stark."

"Please, don't complicate things." Alysanne said

"We'll see." Drakken said, "Anyways, about your boy."

"We're close to finding him, worry not about it."
