Chapter 471: The Wrath of the World Government
Kong frowned slightly at the sword-wielding man who had come as reinforcements.
"You're too late. The Rockefeller Pirates have already escaped, and they've released over ninety percent of the prisoners from Impel Down."
The sword-wielding man's brow furrowed instantly upon hearing this.
"Is this how you Marines handle things?" the sword-wielding man instinctively snapped.
"Hmph!"
Kong gave a cold snort but didn't reply.
The sword-wielding man had come to provide support under the orders of the Five Elders, but seeing the state of Impel Down, a flicker of anger rose in his heart.
He looked at the wounded and disabled jailers and Marines all around.
He glanced left and right.
"Where are the Impel Down Warden and Vice-Warden? Where are they?"
After looking for a moment, the sword-wielding man realized something was wrong.
It made no sense. Reinforcements from the World Government and the Marines had all arrived, yet the Warden hadn't come out to greet them.
He had to understand that among the reinforcements this time was the Fleet Admiral of the Marines.
When it came to status, he himself was at best a hired thug, solving problems the World Government couldn't handle openly. His status was far below Kong's.
Hearing this, Kong also instantly realized something was amiss.
He immediately stopped a jailer and asked, "Where is your Warden?"
The jailer, upon hearing the question, knew he was just a guard who patrolled the upper levels; how would he know where the Warden was? He immediately shook his head.
Realizing he couldn't get any information and that the communication equipment here was destroyed, making it difficult to notify anyone, Kong immediately led a large group of Marine soldiers towards the interior of Impel Down. The red-haired, middle-aged swordsman followed closely behind. As someone sent by the Five Elders to provide support, he had to clarify everything that had happened here to report back later.
As a result, upon entering Impel Down, they saw that the prison corridors were littered with corpses.
There were both jailers and prisoners in prison uniforms.
Most were prisoners.
Clatter, clatter, clatter.
The group walked through the deep and gloomy passage, stepping over the bodies of those around them as they headed deeper.
Upon reaching the second level, they suddenly heard the sound of faint, unsteady footsteps coming from within.
Kong frowned.
When he saw the person, Kong's expression changed.
"Magellan!"
Kong hurried forward, supporting Magellan, the Vice-Warden of Impel Down, who was emerging while leaning against the wall.
"Kong! Fleet Admiral Kong!"
Magellan was stunned upon seeing who had arrived, somewhat surprised.
"Fleet Admiral, the Rockefeller Pirates invaded and released all the prisoners," Magellan said hastily.
"I already know all this. The Rockefeller Pirates have already escaped. Where is your Warden?" Kong had no interest in hearing useless information and quickly asked about Impel Down's Warden.
"The Warden... the Warden, he... he was killed by Rockefeller Charlotte," Magellan said, instantly overcome with grief at the mention of the Warden. Magellan was deeply saddened for the Warden who had always looked after him.
"What did you say? Gaston Figo is dead? Killed by Rockefeller Charlotte?" the swordsman who had been relatively quiet behind Kong asked immediately, his voice filled with disbelief.
"Yes!" Magellan lowered his head in grief.
"Damn pirates."
The sword-wielding man instantly drew the longsword from his waist and fiercely slashed at the nearby wall, cleaving a huge gash in it.
"Impel Down is finished. I must return to Mary Geoise to report this to the Five Elders. Farewell!"
The sword-wielding man sheathed his sword, turned, and left Impel Down.
Kong watched his departing back and sighed softly.
He then looked at Magellan.
"Magellan, how much defensive strength is left in Impel Down now?" Kong asked in a deep voice.
But Magellan just shook his head.
"Communications are all down. We can't contact anyone."
"Immediately go and reorganize all the jailers and restore all communications," Kong commanded.
"Yes, sir!" Magellan subconsciously puffed out his chest, straightened up, and replied. He then immediately went to gather the surviving jailers.
"This is a major incident. We Marines are going to be busy again," Kong said suddenly, looking at the empty cells around him.
Zephyr looked around calmly and nodded slightly.
"Let's go, we'll head back. The matters to come will require careful planning."
Kong could already foresee the scene after Golden Lion Shiki reappeared on the seas. It would be impossible to keep this matter under wraps.
He ordered Zephyr to stay behind and help Impel Down restore order, while he himself headed back first.
While gathering the jailers, Magellan discovered Shiryu of the Rain, sitting in a corner on his last breath.
"Shiryu!"
Magellan cried out in surprise and joy upon seeing Shiryu.
Shiryu, his expression listless, lifted his cold eyes and looked at Magellan. Two wounds on his chest continuously seeped blood.
"Quick! Bring a stretcher over here!" Magellan said hurriedly.
Now that the Warden was dead, only the two of them were left as the main fighting force in Impel Down. Magellan didn't want to lose this partner.
Shiryu was lifted onto a stretcher.
"What about those pirates?" Shiryu asked weakly.
"They were driven off by Fleet Admiral Kong. We couldn't keep them here. Our Impel Down has suffered heavy losses," Magellan said sorrowfully.
But Shiryu paid no attention to Magellan's grief-stricken expression.
Blazing flames simply burned in his eyes.
Lying on the stretcher, he tightly gripped the longsword in his hand.
Impel Down was cast under a gloomy shadow due to the invasion of the Rockefeller Pirates. Although the Rockefeller Pirates were driven away, the entire Impel Down was empty. The tens of thousands of pirates imprisoned there had all escaped. This force would once again stir up waves on the seas that had just barely calmed.
Red Line, Mary Geoise.
"So, you're saying Impel Down now exists in name only, is that right?" asked Saint Jaygarcia Saturn, one of the Five Elders, sitting on a sofa.
"Yes. All the prisoners in the prison have escaped, and those who didn't escape are all dead. Impel Down's Warden was also killed by Charlotte. Currently, the only one who can shoulder the main responsibility is Vice-Warden Magellan," the red-haired swordsman said calmly, standing before the five.
CRACK!
"Damn it!"
An angry voice roared.
Saint Topman Warcury furiously smashed the cup in his hand.
"Is this how the Marines do things? Why was there no news at all? Was there nothing unusual before the Rockefeller Pirates invaded Impel Down? Are those intelligence agents monitoring the Rockefeller Pirates all just eating plain rice (i.e., being useless)?"
Saint Warcury roared before the other four.
As soon as these words were spoken, the faces of two of the other four Five Elders immediately darkened.
"The Rockefeller Pirates' actions this time were sudden, and during this period, the Marines' attention has been focused on Ohara in the West Blue. They did not pay excessive attention to the Rockefeller Pirates," Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro said coldly, stroking the longsword in his hand.
"CP0 also failed to detect the Rockefeller Pirates' unusual movements. I even went to ask just now."
