PING!
A system screen appeared before Ash's eyes, visible only to him. As he read the new quest, shock settled in.
Quest Activated: Legacy of the Forgotten Kingdom (Time Left: 1 year)
Objective: Find and reach the Lost Island of the Ancient Kingdom.
Rewards:
???
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Ash's surprise was understandable—this map was/is connected to one of the greatest secrets of the Void Century. And more than that, this was the first time he had received a time-limited quest.
Still in shock, he spoke to Celeste in his mind.
"Celeste… what I'm seeing—is this real? This isn't some hallucination, right? This map… it's connected to the Ancient Kingdom?"
A soft voice echoed in his mind.
["Yes, Ash. What you read is correct. The map you hold leads to one of the secrets hidden since the Void Century."]
Ash's mind raced. A real connection to the void century… Then another thought struck him.
"And I only have a year to complete this? What happens if I don't?"
["If the quest isn't finished in time, the map will vanish forever."] Celeste's voice remained calm. ["So, you'd better complete it before the time runs out."]
Ash frowned. "But… do you really think we're ready? This island is tied to the Void Century—won't there be dangers? If we even manage to find it, who knows what kind of obstacles we'll face?"
Celeste's voice carried reassurance. ["Ash, I believe you and the girls can handle what awaits in your current state."]
Still, Ash wasn't convinced. "Even so… I want to be fully prepared. Just in case."
["That's your choice. I won't force you,"] Celeste replied. ["But all I can say, if you guys succeed in finding this island, it will give you an advantage in the future."]
Ash nodded to himself, lost in thought.
Seeing him deep in contemplation, doing nothing for an unusually long time, Selina finally spoke up, snapping him out of it.
"Ash, what are you thinking about? And why are you just sitting there nodding to yourself?"
Ash noticed the worried expressions on the girls' faces and smiled reassuringly, silently telling them there was nothing to worry about.
He then began explaining what the map truly was. The moment they heard his words; all six girls were stunned.
Lucy, as expected, had literal stars in her eyes, already thinking of it as another grand adventure. Nami, on the other hand, had an unmistakable look—one filled with beli signs thinking if she will find treasures in the island.
A brief silence followed before Selina finally spoke up, breaking the tension.
"So, what did Celeste say about the island?" Ash shook his head. "Nothing much. She only told me that finding it within a year would be beneficial for us in the future."
Uta smirked. "Knowing you, I doubt you're planning to ignore this opportunity."
Ash chuckled, nodding. "Of course not. But I want us to be fully prepared first, just in case. This is something related to the Void Century, after all."
Hearing that, Lucy immediately protested. "No, Ash! I want to go now!" She leaped onto him, grabbing his collar and wrapping her legs around his body, shaking him like a stubborn child.
Ash, in exaggerated frustration, tugged her off as she clung to him like a clingy octopus. "Lucy, let me finish, you idiot!" he snapped, flashing his shark teeth in mock anger.
Lucy pouted as she crossed her arms, looking thoroughly unhappy.
Ash sighed. "I said we need to be prepared first. Would you be happy if something happened to us just because we rushed in blindly?"
That made Lucy pause. She still looked reluctant, but after a moment, she gave a small huff, clearly convinced despite her disappointment. Ash hugged her saying for speaking like that.
Ash stepped closer and pulled her into a hug. "Sorry if I sounded harsh," he said softly. "I just don't want us to be not prepared, just in case. I hope you understand."
Ash took a deep breath and turned to the rest of them. "For now, we'll continue what we've been doing. We'll keep up our bounty hunting, improve our Conqueror's Haki, and sharpen all of our training in the meantime."
A brief silence followed as they processed his plan.
Then, unexpectedly, Nojiko spoke up. "Ash… I too want to join you guys this time."
Ash blinked at her in surprise. "I don't want to miss this. Please, I feel like I should also join you guys this time" she said firmly.
Ash opened his mouth, ready to refuse. But when he saw the determination and plea in her eyes—and the way the other girls were looking at him with the same silent plea—he hesitated.
Finally, he let out a sigh. "…Fine. Nojiko you can also come."
The girls immediately brightened, but before they could celebrate, Ash raised a hand. "But only if I found a way to keep Arlong from noticing. I'll try to figure something out in the meantime."
At that, the girls cheered and jumped in excitement. Nojiko, overjoyed, hugged Ash tightly. The next second, the rest of the girls joined in, pulling each other into a happy group hug.
Ash could only shake his head with a small smile.
After a while, their excitement slowly calmed down. After their discussion, Ash and the girls returned to the house to rest.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Time Skip....
Time passed quickly.
Eight months flew by in the blink of an eye.
During this time, everyone had significantly improved their skills. Their Haki, in particular, had grown stronger.
While Ash and Lucy hit a bottleneck in further developing their Observation Haki, their overall growth remained steady. Their Conqueror's Haki had also improved, though not by a drastic amount.
According to Dragon, however, their control was already at a level that many struggled to reach in the early stages.
It was during this period that Ash obtained a rare artifact by chance—the Mimic Effigy—through a lottery spin.
A legendary-grade dummy, the Mimic Effigy was capable of perfectly replicating a person's appearance, voice, and memories for one month upon receiving a drop of their fresh blood. It was a rare and valuable item, but for this situation, it was perfect.
Also, to their luck they have obtained another Paramecia type fruit.
Honoo Honoo No Mi _ (Blaze – Blaze Fruit)
The fruit looked like swirling patterns and a vivid mix of red, orange, and blue colors, like dancing fire. It has a curled black stem and jagged leaves that look slightly scorched, giving it the appearance of a smoldering ember.
Ash carefully checked the fruit in the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia.
The fruit itself doesn't generate fire on its own, but once the user has an external flame source, they can gain full control over it. They can cool the flame down, heat it up, shape it however they want, and even cloak their body in fire without getting burned.
Ash thought, "If the user truly masters this Devil Fruit correctly, it could become as powerful as Ace's legendary Mera Mera no Mi—which she might obtain in the future."
Finally, the day before their departure, Ash used the linked suitcase portal to silently transport himself to Cocoyashi Village, ensuring no fishman noticed his arrival.
He emerged directly inside Nojiko's house, where she and Genzo were already waiting at her request. Nami, however, has already reached Foosha Village.
Ash wasted no time and explained the reason for his visit—revealing that Nojiko would be joining their journey this time. Of course, he didn't disclose exactly where they were going.
Genzo frowned, clearly displeased. "Are you sure about this, Nojiko? You've never left the village for long because of the fishmen."
Nojiko remained firm but whined slightly. "But I already got permission from Mom! She said that since Ash has a plan to solve this, she agreed."
Hearing that Bellemere had approved, Genzo let out a long sigh. "That woman… always so reckless." But in the end, he didn't argue further.
That was when Ash introduced the Mimic Effigy.
He placed the artifact before them and explained how it worked. Without hesitation, Nojiko took a small knife and made a shallow cut on her finger, letting a drop of blood fall onto the effigy.
The transformation was instantaneous.
The dummy morphed into an exact replica of Nojiko—but with noticeable differences. Following Nojiko's instructions, the effigy took on a sickly appearance—pale skin, sluggish movements, and an expression of exhaustion, as if suffering from a high fever.
Ash turned to Genzo. "For the next couple of weeks, I need you to stay here and act like take care of this dummy Nojiko. If any of Arlong's men come by asking questions, just tell them Nojiko is sick. Since no one else is around to care for her, you're staying to look after her."
Genzo observed the effigy closely, his eyes narrowing. "Will this thing really hold up?"
Ash nodded. "It will. It doesn't just copy her appearance—it retains her memories, speech patterns, and even her habits. If anyone talks to her, there won't be any differences. She can even hold conversations on her own."
Genzo exhaled heavily, still uneasy but understanding the necessity of the plan. "Fine. But if anything happens…"
"Nothing will happen, Genzo-san. Trust me." Ash reassured him with a calm smile. "The effigy is even linked to Nojiko through a neural connection, so if something serious happens, we'll know right away."
Hearing this, Genzo finally relaxed, though he still grumbled under his breath. With everything in place, Nojiko smiled in relief. The hardest part was over.
Now, all that was left—
Was to set sail.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
Now that everything was ready—and with Nojiko joining them this time—Selina and Uta unfurled the sails.
With Ash at the helm, hands steady on the wheel, and Nami guiding their course, they set sail the next day.
A few days had passed since their journey began.
Ash had to admit—Nami's navigation skills had improved tremendously. She could now read the wind currents effortlessly, guiding them in adjusting their sails with precision to make their boat sail even faster.
Meanwhile, Lucy was being more than her usual childish self, full of boundless energy.
Ash understood the reason behind it. Until now, both Lucy and Uta had been wearing Sea-stone shackles during their travels to suppress their Devil Fruit abilities and increase resistance to Sea-stone.
Ash was surprised to see how much their resistance had grown over the years. Even with the shackles on, they no longer felt much drained or weak—only their Devil Fruit powers were nullified.
Seeing this, Ash decided there was no need for them to wear the shackles constantly anymore—except during bounty hunting.
Upon hearing this, both Uta and Lucy were overjoyed—especially Lucy, who practically sparkled and jumped around in joy and excitement.
However, considering their current journey and destination, Ash instructed them not to wear them this time, since they weren't going bounty hunting.
As the ship sailed forward, Ash couldn't help but feel a growing sense of excitement—curious about what awaited them ahead.
A couple of days into their journey, something unexpected happened.
Nami suddenly called out, "Ash, stop the boat!"
Hearing this, Selina was the first to react. "Nami, what happened?" she asked, curious.
Instead of answering immediately, Nami placed the map Ash had given her on top of a barrel.
She remembered when Ash first gave it to her. At the time, she was surprised to learn that this map could upgrade itself automatically, adjusting according to the person holding it and guiding them in real time.
Shaking off the memory, Nami pointed at the map and said, "Guys, look. According to this, we have to sail through the Calm Belt."
Lucy, without giving it much thought, grinned and declared, "Then let's go! What's the problem?"
Everyone sighed.
Ash turned to Lucy and said, "That's why I taught you some basic things. Did you forget? There's no wind in the Calm Belt. How do expect our boat to travel where there is no wind to guide?"
Lucy blinked in realization. "Oh right! I remember now! Shishishi." Everyone shook their heads with small smiles.
Then, Ace made a suggestion. "Why don't we take the normal route and cut across near the Calm Belt, according to the map?"
Nami, however, shook her head. "I already tried that. But no matter what, the map keeps showing the same route. It's not updating. It's like it wants us to follow this exact course without any deviation."
Hearing that, Ash nodded. "That's fine, Nami. We'll follow the route as it is. You guide us, and we'll row from here."
He grabbed a set of oars from the storage of their boat and distributed them among the group, except for Nami, who focused on navigation.
Because they were rowing manually, their journey slowed down significantly. For the next three days, they had to take frequent breaks, as the effort was exhausting.
The real problem, however, came on the next day.
As they were all enjoying a meal prepared by Ash as usual when suddenly—A massive sea monster burst out of the water.
And it wasn't alone.
Two more surfaced right beside it surrounding them from 3 sides.
The group had just taken a mouthful of food when they froze in shock, their jaws dropping with food still inside their open mouths.
Then—it's chaos.
Everyone shouted urgently as they grabbed their oars, trying to row away as fast as possible.
But suddenly—
Ace, Uta, and Lucy lost their balance, stumbling and snapping their oars in half!
Their shock only grew.
Nami had comical streams of tears flowing down her face.
Nojiko, Selina, and Uta were frozen in fear.
Ash tried to think of a solution, but the monsters were closing in fast.
Then—
Lucy did something that shocked them all.
She rushed to the cabin room, ripped off the door, and held it in her hands.
Twisting her arms back, she shouted—
"Gum Gum No… Propeller!"
She spun her arms at an insane speed, turning the broken door into a makeshift propeller.
The boat shot forward—FAST.
Everyone clung to the sides for dear life, struggling not to be thrown off from the sheer acceleration.
In just a minute, they had put so much distance between themselves and the sea beasts that the creatures were no longer visible.
Lucy finally stopped, panting in exhaustion.
The group collapsed onto the deck, gasping for breath.
For a moment, there was silence.
Then—laughter erupted.
Nojiko was the first to speak, "That was exhilarating! I thought my first journey on the sea would be my last!"
Ash chuckled and turned to Lucy. "That was a great idea. You really saved us back there."
Lucy just grinned. "Shishishi."
After what felt like their near-death experience, exhaustion hit them all at once.
Ash picked up the broken cabin door, inspecting it. It was too damaged to be used again as a door. Sighing, he pulled out a spare door from his inventory and started fixing it in place.
He then checked the boat for any damage. Thankfully, aside from a few small chips, there was nothing major. Still, he patched up the minor damage to be safe.
Meanwhile, the girls cleaned the deck, wiping away the spilled food from their interrupted meal.
That's when Ace turned to Nami. "Hey, did we get off course by any chance?" Uta nodded. "Yeah, Nami, please tell me we don't have to go back."
Nami checked the map and blinked in surprise. "We're still on course." Everyone gathered around to take a look.
Ash studied the map and hummed. "Hmm… It seems like those sea monsters were some kind of landmark on this route."
Then, he clapped his hands together. "Well, since everything is fine, let's finish our lunch. We're getting close to our destination, so let's fill our bellies first."
Right on cue, Lucy's stomach growled loudly. Everyone laughed.
And with that, they sat down and enjoyed their meal before returning to rowing their boat forward.
The next morning, the crew resumed rowing after a good night's rest. About thirty minutes to an hour into their journey, Nami, who was carefully navigating, suddenly felt something unusual.
A breeze.
She blinked in surprise. Wind? That shouldn't be possible. The Calm Belt was known for its absolute stillness. Before she could say anything, Nojiko and Uta reacted.
"Hey… did you feel that?" Nojiko asked, looking around.
"Yeah, I swear I just felt a breeze," Uta added, sounding confused.
The others paused, sensing it too. The wind was light at first, but within seconds, it picked up, growing stronger. That's when Selina pointed ahead, her expression tense.
"Guys… is it just me, or does the weather ahead look really bad?"
Everyone turned toward the direction she was pointing.
Dark storm clouds loomed in the distance, thick and heavy. Lightning flashed between them, illuminating their ominous forms. Below, the once-still ocean churned violently, as if responding to the storm's presence. The sight made their stomachs sink.
Something wasn't right.
Ash turned to Nami, his expression tense. Their boat was no longer drifting—it was being pulled toward the storm. The current had shifted, drawing them in automatically.
"Nami, check the map. Are we still on the right course?" he asked, keeping his voice steady.
Nami snapped out of her shock and quickly unfolded the map. Her eyes scanned it, tracing their route. Then, she froze.
"…Ash, according to this, we have to enter the storm to reach our destination."
Ash clenched his jaw, exhaling sharply. "Tch! I knew it was not easy."
Ash's eyes hardened with determination. He turned to Nami and gave his order. "Nami, once we're inside the storm, I need you to navigate us through it."
Nami hesitated, gripping the map tightly. "Ash, I… I'm not that experienced yet—"
But before she could finish, Ash cut her off, his voice firm yet reassuring. "Nami, I believe in you. So, believe in yourself. Navigate us through this storm."
Nami took a deep breath, steadying herself. Once the storm fully engulfed them, she sprang into action, issuing orders with confidence.
Even Lucy, understanding the seriousness of the situation, followed Nami's instructions without complaint.
Slowly, they began navigating through the raging storm. The wild sea tossed waves onto the deck, forcing Lucy and Uta to grab buckets, desperately throwing the water back into the sea.
It was their training with sea-stone made them to resist sea water.
Meanwhile, Ace, Selina, and Nojiko struggled to keep the sails intact, adjusting them while Nami's shouted directions to prevent them from tearing apart.
At the helm, Ash gripped the wheel tightly, steering the boat trying to keep it steady. Thanks to Nami's guidance, they managed to push forward without major issues.
Just as they thought they were making it through, their boat was suddenly caught in the largest whirlpool they had ever seen.
Panic set in again as the vessel spun violently, the roaring winds and crashing waves making it nearly impossible to stay balanced.
"Ash! What happened?!" Lucy shouted over the storm. Ash gritted his teeth, gripping the wheel tightly. "Nami! What's going on?!"
Nami frantically checked the map, her hands trembling. Her eyes widened in shock. "Ash… we're right on top of the X mark! But—" she hesitated before yelling, "I don't get it but I think the X mark is the whirlpool we're stuck on!"
Ash's stomach dropped. "What?!"
Nami's voice wavered as she held up the map and dropped a second bomb on them shouting. "The map… it stopped updating!"
The realization hit everyone at once.
"WHAT?! NANI?!" they all shouted in unison, their voices barely audible over the storm.
Their boat still trapped, spinning uncontrollably in the massive whirlpool as Ash fought to steer them away. The girls huddled together, gripping whatever they could to stay steady.
Nami clenched her fists, her voice breaking. "I'm sorry! I couldn't find the island! I led us straight into this whirlpool!"
Ash's eyes stayed firm on her. "Nami! We don't doubt you! If you say we've reached the destination, then we have! Don't doubt your skills!"
The others nodded, voicing their agreement.
"We trust you, Nami!"
"You did your best!"
"Don't blame yourself!"
Reassured by their words and support, Nami wiped her tears, determination returning to her eyes.
Just then, Celeste's voice echoed in Ash's mind as he gripped the wheel tightly, trying to fight against the whirlpool. ["Ash, don't try to escape the whirlpool. Let it take the boat."]
His eyes widened in confusion, but then understood why celeste is saying that. The island wasn't on the surface. It was beneath the sea.
Nami had been right all along. They were on top of the X, but their true destination was below it.
Without hesitation, Ash released his grip on the wheel it started spinning fast since ash released. The boat, no longer resisting, began to drift back into the whirlpool's pull.
The girls noticing this panicked. "Ash! What the hell are you doing?!"
Without answering, Ash swiftly pulled a thick rope from his inventory. Working fast, he secured it around his waist, then moved down the line, tying it around each of them as well.
Once finished, he gripped the rope tightly and shouted over the raging storm—
"I'll explain later! Just trust me!"
The boat spun violently as it was sucked and dragged into the whirlpool's center, spiraling, circling faster and faster with each passing second. The howling winds and crashing waves faded away, replaced by an eerie silence as they were pulled into the eye of the vortex.
Then— without warning—everything dropped.
A sudden, crushing force wrapped and pressed around them as they plunged into the depths. Water engulfed the boat from all sides, swallowing it whole.
The world turned dark, the only sound being the muffled roar of the churning sea. Everyone instinctively held their breath, the weight of the ocean pressing against them like an unseen force.
For what felt like an eternity, they continued sinking deeper and deeper, their lungs burning for air.
Then—suddenly as they had been dragged under —the pressure vanished.
They started to breath air.
For a second they felt as if they had broken through an invisible barrier. The suffocating pressure vanished, replaced by open air rushing past them.
But before they could even process what had happened, gravity took hold. The suffocating darkness gave way to light, and before anyone could react—
WHOOSH!
They were no longer underwater. They were not sinking but falling.
Gasping, everyone sucked in deep breaths of air—only to realize they were plummeting from an impossible height. The ocean was gone, replaced by open sky.
Far below, an unfamiliar landscape stretched out, as if they had somehow been dropped from the heavens.
Wind howled past their ears as they plummeted, their boat tilting wildly as they tumbled toward the ground, their stomachs twisting from the sudden freefall.
And then—A chorus of terrified screams echoed from the crew as they tumbled toward the unknown.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

To be continued...
Hey everyone! I'm always looking for ways to make this story even better, and I'd love to hear your ideas. What powers do you think should be available in Ash's store? Maybe you have some cool concepts for abilities, weapons, or items that could make the adventure even more exciting!
Feel free to drop your suggestions in the comments, and if there's anything specific, you'd love to see in future chapters, let me know! I might even integrate your ideas into the story.
Also, don't forget to give some Power Stones if you're enjoying the journey! Your support means the world. 😊
