Chapter 81
Many people observed the light as it lit the entire west and east areas as the controlled and concentrated flame climbed hundreds of miles above. As the light dimmed, a shadow was created by the enormous gate. Daybreak follows nightfall. Melgil was gazing up at the gorge; despite the dense fog blanketing the gorge, Dane Spell's light was sufficient to make an impression on the sky above.
Melgil was eager to see Dane again; she looked more human now, her mana was under control, and she felt and looked like an average normal woman who was voluptuous and stunning in male attention. The clothing she was wearing shrank as her body changed and became more attractive, far beyond a normal physique. She was accompanied by the 13 ogres that were also changing the moment Melgil accepted them and granted them blessing under her care. Their ogre form became less as they slowly changed and became more human-looking; their grey skin, long protruding tusk, and rough body and facial structure became more manly and female-looking. All 13 were more attractive and looked like real warriors. Nukra's crooked posture was no longer seen; he was still old but had that dignified and wise body and stance.
Their personalities were more refined and noble. Each step they took wasn't sluggish and slow but purposeful and confident. The transformation under Melgil's care had not only changed their physical appearance but also their demeanor and presence. They had to adjust their clothing as their wide body frame was no longer seen. Nukra knelt behind Melgil and thanked her for accepting them as her subordinates. Melgil was creating new clothing from the silk thread she had created. As she sat under a fallen tree near a hill that was a few meters away from the largest forest in the gorge,
She told Nukra their loyalty must be focused on serving the man she was destined to be with. She pointed out the tower where they existed and said they will soon feel the change Dane will bring. She smiled as the silk thread moved by itself to form a cloth and warp around her body, forming her new clothing. They were already out of the ogre's hidden home; the hill was elevated enough so they could still see the entire ogre tribe march following the war trolls, and because the grey ogre lacked supplies, they walked toward the troll homeland with just the bare minimum.
The torchlight they were carrying was to ward off potential attackers, but Bralthor knew too well it was a mistake. The fact it looked like day in the gorge because of the large deposit of illuminating crystal on the wall meant it was already night above ground. Nukra was still holding the grimoire book as it illuminated a faint light, notifying him that an enemy was near them. He asked the rest to stand guard, as they needed to protect their queen. Melgil smiled and told them to not be concerned with the enemy. Melgil cast a barrier around the hill they were resting on and told them to rest, as they will eventually leave the gorge.
"Take a look at your fellow race; this might be the last time you will all see them."
One of the six female ogres politely asked the queen about her story; she wanted to hear her story and the reason why she was called a white calamity. Melgil was still sitting on the fallen tree log and answered the female ogre and asked her for her name. She introduced herself as Shunra. Melgil explained that when the world they knew was still young, she came to be as one of the first living creatures that came from the lower branch in the tree of life that was at the heart of the nether regions.
The being that planted the great tree of life was only manifested by an unseen voice that could be heard all over the sphere where they live; the voice that planted and gave life to the massive tree named her Melgil Veara Gehinnom; she was given authority to create and cut the thread of life. As life soon began to emerge from the roots in various sizes, forms, classifications, and abilities, Melgil and her six other siblings were the ones that mitigated these living creatures lives and their deaths.
She was the only being that was blessed to walk into the realm of torment and return unscathed, wielding the power to interconnect all living things that will eventually succumb to her master's cold, dark, peaceful embrace, Melgil told Shunra. She stood 20 meters tall, and her legs could crush a mountain with a single step. Her skin was indestructible, and she was known to bathe in the blazing lava pits of Hell.
Her silk threads can cut and capture a lesser dragon with ease; among the seven, Milgil was the embodiment of gluttony. The white calamity, the queen of hunger, and the death spider queen were her titles, feared by all who crossed her path. She ruled over the third level of Gehenna with an iron grip, her insatiable appetite for destruction leaving a trail of chaos in her wake.
She soon came into the living realm because she was fascinated by what human emotions tasted like, seeking to bring her reign of terror to a new world ripe for conquest. Her arrival sent shivers down the spines of even the bravest warriors, as they knew they would soon face the wrath of the insatiable death spider queen. But after many years, her lust to feed her hunger soon became a tedious routine that made her life feel like a monotonous cycle of destruction and despair. Despite her initial excitement, the monotony of her conquests left her longing for something more fulfilling, something that would truly satisfy her insatiable appetite for good.
She was seen just silently waiting for something as many warriors dared to try to kill her to gain fame and glory. However, none were successful in their attempts, as the white demon spider queen's power and cunning were unmatched. It seemed that her desire for a more fulfilling existence would remain unfulfilled, as she continued to reign terror over all who crossed her path as she settled in the far western region and established her own domain.
But after so many years, she woke up in an unfamiliar land, and thus, after just a few days, many of her eggs were fertilized by the males and thus created thousands of demon spiders that carried her insatiable hunger. And after a few more days remaining silent above the gorge and watching the multitudes of spiders ravage the lower ground for food, he appeared and finally satisfied her deep hunger.
Melgil added that she might have a recollection of her nearly ageless life. , but everything seems to be an insignificant dream compared to when she laid eyes on the man named Dane. She felt calm, and being near him changed everything about her, as if he opened a new world for her to walk in, a life that she wanted to have and not be bound to anybody but her own choice.
Soon most of the Ogre were already listening to their queen's story; the information they gained was like pieces of the puzzle that made their own life more complete and now had meaning. As the night went on above the gorge,
Dane in his Netherborn form blasted open the feeding hole that was connected toward the third underground sub-basement of the Anchorage Castle. Most of the Alraune humanoid flesh-eating plants were burnt to death; the heat generated by his plasma vortex melted the castle floor like it was made of butter. The heat that created the outward force was focused on tunneling an escape route up to the castle. The energy of the plasma vortex made the ground tremble, but what made the people gasp out of disbelief was the amount of light it produced, turning night into day in a few seconds.
The rustic grandeur of the Anchorage Castle was already worn out as it was abandoned, but now due to the sudden vast appearance of the Alraune plant monster, the place became like an oven where the plants were the main source of light and heat as it all burned and died at a fast rate. The points for killing such a large amount went toward the Netherborn notification armband.
Bai Xifeng accidentally saw the number on the Netherborn's armband and kept quiet as she saw a staggering amount of experience points he had accumulated. Now the question raised in her mind was whether the Netherborn was an NPC or an actual player, but the amount of power he displayed was considered a high-tier spell, maybe a tier 7 or 8, but her mana detection skills could not pinpoint the exact level of power he possessed. Bai Xifeng knew she would have to tread carefully around them; the benefits her group can obtain outweigh her curiosity.
She is having a hard time considering the armband artifact was created inside the tower, meaning it's not exclusive equipment that only players can use. Many warriors also use this equipment. But Bai Xifeng knows the status notifications are solely for players; she was confused because many players have transitioned to live inside the tower permanently. Gaining a status increase from hunting and clearing a quest should only be obtained by a player, or was her knowledge about the tower resident wrong?
But this wasn't the time to think about these things; they needed to get out fast. They were sure the light that surged upward had already alerted surrounding enemies. Bai Xifeng quickly gathered her companions and urged them to make a hasty retreat before they were discovered. As they hurriedly made their way out of the tower, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was not quite right about the situation. One of the team members created a stone ladder going up. After a few minutes, there were the burnt remains of the Alraune plant monster. Netherborn easily rose from the feeding hole he reopened, and he asked the velvet knight if they can travel from this location toward a safe area or if they still need his help and assistance.
Jin Xifeng could not understand how such a person could be this helpful. Netherborn had helped them enough; the news about this powerful being was wrong, stating he was a monster above all monsters and viciously killed the evolved drake without hesitation or mercy. The details of his existence were all falsely made up to expand his notoriety.
Jin Xifeng and his younger twin sister bowed their heads and thanked him, as they were truly grateful and honored to serve him even for a short time. Netherborn told them to meet with the war forge master in two days; he will be the one who will give them the lotus plan potion as payment toward accomplishing his personal request. The Velvel knights were still confused on said matter; they could only speculate that Netherborn was connected with the warforge. The warforge's current status was so sudden and unexpected that it left them wondering about the true intentions behind Netherborn's request. Despite their confusion, Jin Xifeng and his sister knew they had no choice but to follow through with the meeting and fulfill their end of the bargain.
"As a parting gift, I wish to assist all of you to safely reach your destination."
Jin Xifeng looks at Netherborn with an expression, silently acknowledging the help offered while still harboring doubts about the mysterious figure's true motives.
"Ah, Sir Netherborn, what do you mean by that?"
"Be ready to stand firm, hold your ground, and trust in your own strength," Netherborn replied cryptically, leaving Jin Xifeng and his sister and the rest of the Velvet Knights even more perplexed than before. Dane cast another spell; it was when he fired the plasma vortex, but this time a light and symbols manifested.
Under their feet, the swirling energy grabs hold of them, and in a blink of an eye, they emerge at the open marketplace of the kingdom of Solnara Cererindu. Everybody was shocked seeing so many of them instantly get transported 4 thousand miles in a blink; the vast amount of mana it needed to create such a powerful spell was unimaginable. The group stood in awe as they were in a state of shock as soldiers from the kingdom came and surrounded them, thinking they might be enemies..
After a few minutes of interrogation from the kingdom's military officers, they were released when Sylveth Melriel, or the Crescent Magus, came and told the captain that those hunters are covered with the faint chaos energy signature of the being that killed the evolved drake. As soon as they realized it was the Netherborn, they hurriedly released all eleven of them and kept their mouths shut and didn't even document the encounter in their official reports to avoid drawing unnecessary attention to themselves.
Sylveth Melriel, or the Crescent Magus, knew firsthand how strong the Netherborn was, seeing him easily obliterate a Dragonoid as if its life force was nothing but a mere candle flame. It was very different when he broke her high-tier barrier that supposedly can withstand a tier 6 attack spell directly, and with a grip of the Netherborn fingers, her barrier crumbled like it was made of paper.
she has one of the highest position within the kingdom, her peculiar manner was known by all by, appearing suddenly and visits the garrison were suspected enemies and criminal were held fr investigation is not something she do, her words were taken seriously as she mentioned that those eleven guild members have small amount of chaos energy in their body.
she didn't became one of the kings trusted advisor because of political influence, she advice the guard captain to release the guild members and just let them be, magical visual records of the sudden appearance of the bein that called himself as Netherborn has been acquired by many mages from different magic towers to study his power level ,as certain mages like the Crescent Magus can still recall and gather information of what the artifact mirror visually receive, and because all artifact run by absorbing mana energy it was created to be like a recording device so other mages and warriors can study the events, this particular recording was now high-up valued even at the royal academy as students from all levels wanted to see one of the so called strongest being on their realm.
The captain and his crew understood the danger they were in and decided to steer clear of any further encounters with those who interacted with the Netherborn, and quickly released the eleven guild member belonging to the Velvet knights , reporters that were on the open market casually waiting for and news to come their way were awaiting outside the guard post garrison, they never knew that the Crescent Magus secretly visited the guard captain that was conducting the investigation. the eleven was secretly release on the underground path and was accompanied by the young lady who suddenly came and told them that the guard captain has official found that they were not enemies of the kingdom and she handed a the release order that the Crescent Magus signed with her official seal,
Jin Xifeng took the letter and confirmed it was real, so without hesitation they followed the young lady that told them she was the left Arch mage maid servant, Bai Xifeng asked the young lady why does that left advisor of the king helped them, she smiled and said my lady is very much interested in the all matters related into magic. and she sense you all just coincidentally encountered a recent being with such power,
one of the velvet knight reacted and mentioned they were luckily enough to have meet, when Bai Xifeng suddenly held her female teammates mouth from finishing her sentence and told the young lady that they just used a transfer scroll that they accidentally found while hunting. Bai Xifeng aske the young maid servant her name , she was called Rhiel and gave a elegant bow, she was ordered to accompany them until they reach the exit as many reporters are waiting for them outside the main guard garrison to interview them, Bai Xifeng smiled and thank the maid servant.
she asked the mid servant to lead the way , as they followed behind her Bai Xifeng told the rest of their team not to mention anything about what they just encountered, Jin Xifeng agreed to his sisters order, " we are the only guild in the entire region that has meet with a very high profiled being, many will do what ever it takes to gain any information about him,
his brief appearance , created a huge storm, that we too saw, the thing he did while fighting the evolve drake wasn't fake, his control over magic is unprecedented and will eventually change the tower as we know.
