Chapter 152 - Chapter 152. Mr. Surgeon is in My Romance Novel

The sky was a pale blush when the ceremony began.

Somewhere between dawn and daylight, between silence and song, the world held its breath as if nature itself knew something sacred was unfolding.

The wedding was held on a sun-drenched clifftop villa that overlooked the sea, chosen not for grandeur, but for the feeling.

The kind of feeling that settled deep in the chest and said, "You're safe now. You've made it."

White linen fluttered from arches wrapped in eucalyptus and wisteria.

Rows of chairs lined either side of the aisle, each one adorned with ribbons and hand-penned place cards written by Ayaka herself.

The soft scent of ocean salt mingled with floral perfume, carried on the sea breeze that danced through the ceremony grounds.

And then the music began.

A gentle swell of piano and strings.

The hush fell naturally, lovingly.

Every person in attendance turned.

And there she was.

The Bride...

Ayaka Yamamoto, soon-to-be Nakamura, stood beneath the floral archway at the top of the path—her figure illuminated by the rising sun behind her.

Her gown was nothing short of a fairy tale.

A regal ball gown fit for a princess, made of soft ivory satin and cascading layers of tulle.

The bodice was hand-embroidered with delicate vines of silver thread and seed pearls, cinching at the waist before blooming into a full, dramatic skirt that swept the ground like a rolling cloud.

Tiny crystals had been sewn into the hem, catching the morning light with every step she took.

Her veil was cathedral-length, sheer and flowing like mist, anchored by a delicate floral tiara woven with roses, baby's breath, and shimmering silver leaves.

She was breathtaking.

Not because of the dress, or the setting, or even the quiet reverence in the air.

But because she looked utterly, undeniably herself.

Glowing.

Real.

Fierce and soft all at once.

But Ayaka wasn't walking alone.

On either side of her, flanking her steps like steady guardians, were Kei and Kai.

Her brothers.

Both dressed in midnight-blue suits with subtle silver accents to match the motif.

Kei was composed, his jaw tight with emotion, while Kai wore a grin he could barely contain.

They each held one of Ayaka's arms, their pace measured, their steps in perfect sync with hers.

Every step they took was a memory of scraped knees, school festivals, shared grief, and stubborn love.

Of watching over her.

Of letting go, one step at a time.

As they reached the middle of the aisle, Ayaka glanced at each of them.

"You okay?" Kai whispered.

"Barely..." Ayaka whispered back.

Kei leaned slightly closer. "You look beautiful."

"Thanks..." she managed. "You two clean up okay yourselves."

They both chuckled softly.

When they reached the altar, the brothers each kissed her cheeks.

Kei's hand lingered on her shoulder.

Kai gave her a wink.

Then, they gently placed her hands into Akihiko's.

-----

Everyone rose as she walked down the aisle.

Yuki was already crying, mouthing "oh my god" as she fanned her face.

Keiko held it together for five seconds before sniffing, muttering about pollen.

Takeshi looked smug but had discreetly stopped recording, choosing to take in the moment with wide eyes.

Haruto and Kaito elbowed each other but wore suits with ties that actually matched the wedding palette miraculously.

Kazumi was dabbing at his eyeliner and mouthing "SHE'S A FAIRY" repeatedly.

And then Makoto.

He stood in the second row, straight-backed and effortlessly handsome in a charcoal suit tailored to perfection.

His blond hair was slicked back lightly, green eyes bright beneath the golden glow of the morning sun.

There was no heartbreak in his gaze, only peace.

When Ayaka passed, he smiled.

And that smile was enough to say: "I'm proud. I'm happy. I was always on your side."

-----

Akihiko stood at the end of the aisle in a tailored black tuxedo, classic and sharp, with a silver tie and a single white lily pinned to his lapel.

His silver hair was brushed neatly but a single strand fell rebellious over his forehead.

He was impossibly handsome.

But it was the way he looked at her as if she were the only person in the universe that made the moment still.

When she reached him, Kei and Kai each gave her a final nod before stepping back.

Ayaka placed her hands in Akihiko's.

He brought one to his lips.

And the ceremony began.

The officiant kept it simple.

Personal.

They had written their own vows.

Ayaka went first.

Her voice was quiet but sure, full of everything she was—writer, woman, warrior of her own heart.

"I didn't expect you..." she began, smiling through a tear. "You showed up in the middle of my life like a well-written plot twist. And instead of unraveling me, you anchored me.

You challenged me, teased me, saved me. Not just on that operating table… but in every moment you stood beside me after.

I love you for your silence, and your chaos.

For your calm, and for your eyes when they soften just for me.

I promise to stand with you even when we're both stubborn. Even when we don't have all the answers. Even when you steal the blankets.

I'll be your partner in every storm. And I'll never stop choosing you. I love you my Ice Prince."

She paused, tears finally breaking free.

Akihiko took her hand again.

He kissed her knuckles once.

And then it was his turn.

He looked at her, eyes bright with something deep, unshakable.

"You once told me we were strangers thrown together by chance." he began. "But I don't believe that anymore.

I think our paths were already woven quietly, playfully by something bigger than either of us.

The night we found out… that your parents… and mine… died in the same accident. That shared loss should have torn us apart. But instead, it made us whole.

From grief, we built something. From silence, we created understanding.

I know now every step I took brought me closer to you.

I promise to honor your heart, your past, your dreams. I promise to keep learning you, every day.

You are my home. And I will spend the rest of my life making sure you never forget it."

There was silence.

Then applause.

Then sobbing.

Loud sobbing...

Mostly Yuki.

"You may now kiss your bride."

Akihiko didn't wait.

He pulled Ayaka into his arms and kissed her—deep, slow, reverent.

The ocean behind them roared like applause.

The petals in the wind danced.

The crowd erupted with cheers.

Kazumi shouted, "GET A ROOM!!!"

Toru added, "AFTER THE RECEPTION, PLEASE!!!"

But Ayaka only smiled against Akihiko's lips.

Because this kiss wasn't just a kiss.

It was a promise made flesh.

------

The celebration had only just begun.

After the ceremony, the guests were guided down a flower-lined stone path leading from the clifftop altar to the villa's expansive garden terrace.

Strings of fairy lights had been suspended between olive trees and floral archways, casting a golden glow over the entire courtyard.

Tables draped in soft linen were scattered across the lawn, set with delicate porcelain, flickering candles, and centerpieces that featured Ayaka's favorite blooms peonies and eucalyptus.

Laughter and music filled the air.

The sea sparkled below in the distance, reflecting the same magic that seemed to shimmer in the eyes of everyone present.

Ayaka and Akihiko entered the garden hand in hand to thunderous applause.

Keiko, Kazumi, and Yuki were among the first to rush up, wrapping them both in tearful, excited hugs.

Haruto handed them glasses of champagne while Kaito waved a sparkler in the air and shouted, "To the hottest couple in Japan!"

Toru stood at the bar, already one drink in, muttering, "He beat me to it!" while holding up his glass in salute.

Makoto was the last to approach.

He stepped forward with quiet grace, his blond hair catching the light of the lanterns, and his smile warm.

He extended a hand to Akihiko first.

"Take care of her." he said sincerely.

Akihiko clasped his hand firmly. "Always."

Makoto then turned to Ayaka, leaned in, and hugged Ayaka. "You deserve every joy in the world, Ayaka."

She blinked back tears, whispering, "Thank you."

Makoto went back near Takeshi who was watching closely. "The Traveler was a Princess..." he muttered.

"What?" Makoto asked in confusion as he sat back down.

"Looking at them makes me want to write a romance fantasy." Takeshi replied shortly.

"I'll make the romance happen and you do the fantasy." Makoto suggested.

Takeshi's eyes widened with excitement as he look at Makoto. "You...you're not kidding right? RIGHT???!!!"

"I'm not. Looking at those two... I feel inspired to write a unique kind of romance novel." Makoto said while his eyes were glued to Akihiko and Ayaka.

"It's a Moonlight Sonata and Azrael Emberlight collaboration then?" Takeshi asked, extending his hand to Makoto.

"Deal." Makoto shook Takeshi's hand.

"SWEET!!! I WILL LAUNCH OUR COLLABORATION!!!" Takeshi excitedly took his phone out.

"Ohhhh! Make it mysterious! Do something cryptic!" Makoto leaned over to look at Takeshi's post.

"I'll try but Ayaka is the master of writing cryptic stuffs!" Takeshi laughed.

"You bet! Think we should ask for her help after the wedding?" Makoto asked while scratching the back of his head.

"Yeah I guess... We're terrible at being mysterious."

They both sighed dramatically.

Dinner was served under the stars, seared salmon in miso glaze, citrus-marinated chicken, grilled vegetables, and delicate handmade dumplings, all prepared by a private chef.

The wine flowed easily.

So did the stories.

Kei stood up first, raising a glass. "When Akihiko first asked us to test him, I didn't think he'd last a week."

Laughter erupted.

"But then he built a bookshelf blindfolded with the manual in different languages. Then he carried thirty kilos of rice... And ate Kai's cooking twice."

Groans and cheers followed.

Kai feigned a wounded expression.

"So..." Kei continued, smiling, "I say this not just as her brother, but as someone who's watched her struggle, fall, rise, and fight harder than anyone I know Ayaka, we are so proud of you. And Akihiko, welcome to the family. You earned it."

Akihiko raised his glass in return, and murmured, "I'd do it all again."

When the music shifted to a slow, sweeping orchestral piece, the crowd instinctively made way.

Akihiko extended his hand to Ayaka.

"May I have this dance, my wife?"

Her breath caught.

She placed her hand in his, and he pulled her gently into the center of the garden.

The world faded away.

With her hand on his shoulder and his at her waist, they moved in time to the music.

Her full ball gown fanned out around them, sparkling faintly with every twirl.

Ayaka felt the steady rhythm of Akihiko's heart beneath his tuxedo.

He leaned close.

"You're everything I've ever wanted, you know that?"

She smiled, tears gathering again. "Say it."

"I love you." he murmured into her ear, his voice low and sure. "I love you in ways I never thought possible."

She leaned her forehead to his chest. "I love you more."

He twirled her once, drawing her back into his arms.

Around them, lanterns glowed like stars fallen to earth.

Soon, everyone joined the floor.

Takeshi dragged Kazumi and Makoto into a swaying trio of laughter.

Toru started a conga line.

Kai had somehow stolen the DJ's mic and was singing dramatically into it while Kei filmed with glee.

Keiko and Yuki were dancing with Haruto and Kaito in a ridiculous tango dance.

When Ayaka took a break to sit near the fountain with a glass of wine, Akihiko followed, easing beside her.

"I'm the happiest girl in the world." she smiled softly

He kissed her temple. "And you make me the happiest man alive."

Their hands entwined.

------

As the night stretched on, guests lit paper lanterns, each one carrying messages, wishes, or blessings.

They released them into the night sky one by one, and soon the dark canvas above was dotted with glowing lights, drifting slowly upward like stardust.

Ayaka and Akihiko stood in the middle of the lawn, holding their lantern together.

Ayaka whispered her message: "To the life we never expected, but always needed."

They let go.

And as the lantern floated skyward, Akihiko pulled her into another kiss.

Deeper this time.

Full of laughter and love and the quiet promise that no matter what came next, they would face it together.

The party danced.

The stars watched.

And their love, like the light above, kept rising.
