Judith and Maria were standing by the upper rail landing, discussing, when the door to Sarah's room creaked open, causing both women to snap their heads in that direction.
Amelia stepped out of the room, smiling like someone who had just won a lottery ticket. She closed the door behind her and walked over to the expectant mothers, still beaming.
"How did it go?" Judith asked, her gaze darting between Amelia and Sarah's closed bedroom door.
"Splendid." Amelia clasped her hand, barely able to keep the excitement from her voice. "We talked, expressed some emotions, and now she's good."
"That's good news. Great job, sweetie." Maria gave Amelia a thumbs-up.
"Thank you so much, Amy." Judith embraced Amelia briefly before asking. "Can I go and see her now?"
"Sure. She's expecting you."
"Okay." Judith's face lit up as she hurried dramatically to Sarah's bedroom door, making Maria and Amelia chuckle out loud.
