Chapter 389 - Chapter 390: Gwen’s Attempt

Now that she had calmed down, Hope still couldn't believe that Scott, despite knowing the dangers of this mission, had accepted it without hesitation.

Especially after Hank Pym had finally revealed, in front of everyone, the real reason Janet had been missing all these years.

"You know there's a high chance the same thing could happen to you. How can you still go through with this?"

"I need money," Scott stated bluntly. And conveniently, Dr. Pym could provide it.

"Besides, you're all he has left. He can't bear to lose another family member."

Alan had explained everything to Scott from the very beginning, and Scott understood it all.

He only had his daughter, Cassie. If something happened to him like it did to Janet, at the very least, he could leave Cassie some money.

Besides, Cassie still had Maggie—and a stepfather who, at the very least, was a man of justice.

"Enough with the sentimental talk. Let's focus on your training results," Alan cut in. He wasn't interested in dwelling on such heavy topics.

With him here, things would never escalate to such a point. Besides, Scott would soon be working with Tony and the others.

Stealing the Wasp Suit and destroying the data would be much easier than in the original timeline.

At least...

Alan glanced at his watch. Originally, Darren Cross should have shown up by now, but the doors had already been sealed.

With Wanda's Chaos Magic in effect, not even a mosquito could get inside this house.

Even though Darren currently had the Wasp Suit, he had yet to master the technology for human miniaturization.

"Well... My combat skills have improved, but I still struggle to control ants using electromagnetic waves," Scott admitted.

He had been trying to establish a connection with the ants, but the more anxious he got, the worse his results became.

"Controlling ants is way too difficult. I… I don't think I can do it," Scott confessed. Unlike Hope, he simply couldn't grasp it so quickly.

Expecting him to master this in just a few days was impossible.

Gwen pursed her lips and glanced at Scott. "How do you control the ants?"

Scott scoffed, unconvinced that Gwen could do it on her first try. "Listen, Miss Gwen, controlling ants isn't as easy as you think."

Ignoring his doubts, Gwen listened to Hope's explanation, took the ant communicator, and placed it behind her ear.

"Try commanding the ants to move..." Hope glanced at the table. "Let's start with the charger."

Scott refused to believe that Gwen, on her first attempt, could accomplish what he had failed to do for days.

But the very next second, his skepticism was shattered.

The ants on the ground moved like well-trained soldiers, precisely following Gwen's command. Not only did they lift the charger, but they also responded eagerly to her instructions.

Getting playful, Gwen directed the ants toward the four legs of the table, making them cluster there in perfect synchronization.

The coffee cup on the table wobbled slightly but didn't spill a single drop.

"See? Even Gwen, on her very first try, has already mastered the technique," Hope exhaled deeply.

She had to admit—every time Scott failed to control the ants, she couldn't help but complain. If it were her, she would have done it much better.

But after hearing Alan's reasoning, she began to trust that he had chosen Scott for a reason—even if she couldn't see Scott's strengths just yet.
