Chapter 703 - Chapter 695: Controlling a Nation

"Sorry to interrupt you, Mr. Joe," Martin apologized politely, prompting Joe to look both flattered and overwhelmed.

He quickly said, "Mr. Meyers, your erudition commands my respect. Everything you just shared broadened my horizons—I should be thanking you."

He then turned back to Alexandra and said, "Madam, let's return to our earlier topic."

"When I said castration, I didn't mean ordinary mutilation. It's a form of traditional punishment from a tribe in West Africa."

(Author Notes: Just to clarify, the Guinea being referred to here is Guinea in West Africa, not Equatorial Guinea. Equatorial Guinea is relatively more developed, while Guinea is one of the most underdeveloped countries in the world.)

"Before the punishment begins, they smear honey all over the criminal's genitals. Then, the tribal witch doctor releases a jar full of army ants onto it."

"What follows is hours of prolonged, agonizing screams…"

Alexandra's scalp tingled. She even felt slightly nauseous.

Her face pale, she murmured, "That's too cruel… It would be better to just kill them outright."

Joe nodded. "Madam, those six men did in fact die. After the castration, the tribal chief called for a vote to decide whether they should be spared. Unfortunately, the majority of the tribe voted for execution. So—"

"After enduring castration, the six were sentenced to death by stoning. Three days later, at dawn, they were stoned to death by the villagers." (1)

Two hours later, the convoy arrived at their destination.

Along the way, Alexandra had been subjected to the "cruelty crash course," and her face remained visibly pale.

Several middle-aged white men in suits came forward to greet them.

They were high-ranking executives of the Guinea mining company.

Leading them was a tall Caucasian man, easily identifiable by his distinct features: pale skin, thick body hair, deep-set eyes, low cheekbones, a flat jawline, a high-bridged nose, and thin lips.

This man was Martin's trusted lieutenant and CEO of the Guinea mining company—John Jones.

"We promised the workers that if they serve at the mine for five full years and avoid major infractions, they'll receive a free home."

"And once these workers adapt to disciplined labor under our management, shedding their natural tendency toward disorder, they make excellent soldier material. With a little training, they become elite fighters in the African context."

"But tribalism is a headache. West Africa is so poor that tribal chiefs often command more authority than the government—unlike in North or South Africa, where tribal leaders are mostly symbolic."

"Many tribal chiefs here strongly oppose letting their young men join our factories or work at the mines—even though it pays more and offers better resources."

At this point, John Jones lowered his voice. "As for that issue, Hellfire said they'd take care of it."

Hellfire was Martin's private security firm in Guinea—essentially a mercenary outfit for both protection and enforcement.

Martin could easily guess what kind of "solution" Hellfire had in mind. It likely involved eliminating uncooperative chiefs and replacing them with compliant ones.

In chaotic West Africa, this was the most direct and effective method—and Martin certainly wasn't naïve enough to object.

"Recently, we took down two terrorist strongholds and captured a batch of prisoners. They've all been sent to the Guinea mines as free labor."

"Oh? Did we suffer any casualties?" Martin asked.

"Not really. One of Satan's men got injured, but that was from falling off his motorcycle."

"The core assault force consisted of local recruits trained by them. It was their first real combat, and they performed impressively—granted, it was a well-prepared ambush against poorly prepared enemies. According to the veterans, these young Black recruits are already capable of holding their own in West Africa. As long as they don't run into well-equipped forces from countries like Egypt or South Africa, they'll manage just fine."

"They also said that with a few more battles like this, these local troops could significantly improve. The Guinea government expressed their gratitude for that."

At this point, both John and Martin broke into smiles.

After years of operations, the Guinea government was essentially under the control of the Meyers family's company. Even government officials were effectively working for Martin—and so was the military.

"Oh right—what about that Libyan prince's investment? Did the funds come through?"

"The third installment—30 million USD—was deposited last month. That Mufta guy really does have deep pockets. His people even visited our mines and were very impressed. They want to increase their investment and are asking for a bigger share."

"Give it to them!" Martin laughed.

Wasn't that just free money?

And 2011 wasn't far off.
