Chapter 158 - CHAPTER 157

MARTIN FOLLOWED HIM EAGERLY, with his revolver in his hands, remembering Benedetti's words:

Revolvers have six bullets. Only six bullets!

As they ran through the warehouse full of machines immersed in darkness, they could hear the crash of glass breaking above them. Looking up, the young man saw beams of light projecting, revealing the rain of glass shards that agents hanging by ropes had brought with them when they invaded the place.

In the background, a voice could be heard saying:

"Payne stays alive! The old man stays alive!

Martin looked ahead again and saw Robert, who was trying at all costs to keep up with his running pace, pulling out a round object from a bag that looked like a grenade. The darkness in the place was still too great to see many details, also because they were both running so fast.

The old man rolled the apparent grenade to the center of the building and ran towards it again and said:

— Forgive me, I wasn't exactly prepared for this!

With that, he pulled out a special type of headset from his bag, more specifically, a protector that Martin had never seen before, and fitted it onto his head. He motioned for him to follow him.

—Survive this, kid! I'll give you the next steps soon!

The two ran to an exit that led them to an alley between two warehouses. Around the corner of the alley was a group of men in military uniforms, but with their own clothing, all black. Robert pulled him through the garbage containers to the end of the alley, where there was another door that led to the next warehouse.

Martin felt the blood running down his stomach and the sudden movement of running caused him severe pain, but the imminence of escape was greater than the danger of any injury to his body.

As they entered the other building, a loud sonic pulse was fired where the bomb had been dropped. Martin felt the impact on his head, coming from the sound that dispersed in that entire radius. His legs weakened and his balance was gone. The scene in front of him, which was already dark, began to fade in the same way that it had happened in the car after the accident. The last thing he saw as he fell to the ground was Robert Payne, protected by his personal device, running down the hallway, saying:

— I'm sorry, son! Survive!

Everything is gone.
