Time passed quickly—about a year or so.
All kinds of research had been pushed to their limits. Whether in the Naruto World or the Pirate World, Shin felt that his room for improvement was shrinking.
Over the past year, Shin's most significant gain had been undergoing the Op-Op Fruit's enhancements, greatly extending his lifespan once again.
While the Eternal Youth Surgery of the Op-Op Fruit was said to require sacrificing one's life, Shin had no shortage of lifespan. Even if he were to die, he had ways to bring himself back.
Thus, he tracked down Law in the Pirate World, placed him under Genjutsu, and had him perform Op-Op Fruit surgeries on Shin and several of his trusted companions.
At first, Shin enjoyed the leisure that came with his near-invincibility. However, over time, he began to feel a deep sense of restlessness.
"So in the end, I still need to travel to other worlds!"
After coming to terms with his dissatisfaction, Shin took careful precautions, made thorough preparations, and then—on an auspicious day—began his journey to a new world once more.
The moment his eyes opened, Shin found himself in what looked like a wasteland. Taking a few steps forward, he spotted a group of red-eyed humanoids—clearly not normal humans—locked in brutal combat with one another.
As soon as they noticed him, seven or eight of them turned their bloodshot eyes toward him and charged, shouting:
"Blood for the Blood God! Skulls for the Skull Throne!"
…Nope. Not dealing with this.
With a flicker, Shin vanished using Flying Thunder God, initiating an immediate countdown to leave this world.
Warhammer 40K.
Of all the possible worlds, he had to land here?
This place was no better than eldritch horrors like Cthulhu. The four Chaos Gods lurked in the shadows, always seeking to corrupt, and every faction was a nightmare in its own right.
The Orks could reproduce from a single spore. The Tyranids devoured entire galaxies. The Necrons were a race of machine overlords vastly superior to anything like Skynet. And let's not forget the Imperium of Man, which was arguably more ruthless than the very monsters they fought.
Even Chaos itself was constantly engaged in a never-ending war against itself—because this world didn't believe in peace, only evil and greater evil.
Shin thanked the heavens that he had landed on an unidentified planet rather than inside the Warp itself.
This was a world where even Superman and Goku would have second thoughts.
"System please send me somewhere safer this time…"
The next world Shin entered left him speechless.
This time, he found himself in what looked like the 1980s or 1990s. The internet was barely developed, and it took him some time to gather enough information to realize where he had ended up.
"…Slam Dunk?"
Shin sighed. From Warhammer 40K to a high school basketball anime?
And right in front of him, a teenager was in the middle of a breakdown—devastated after yet another failed confession.
"…Forget it. I might as well make the most of this."
"Hey! Redhead over there!"
"Who are you calling Redhead?! My name is Sakuragi Hanamichi!"
"Oh, got it—heartbroken redhead."
"AHHHH! I'M GONNA BEAT YOU UP!"
As Sakuragi lunged forward, Shin lightly tapped the nearby wall.
With a crack, the entire wall crumbled into dust.
Sakuragi skidded to a halt, staring at the pulverized remains of the wall. A gentle breeze sent dust blowing into his face.
"Good." Shin casually patted him on the head. "Since you're so respectful, I'll give you an opportunity."
Sakuragi gulped. "T-That's okay… I don't need it. Really, you should give it to someone else…"
"Really? I was going to give you 100% success in your next confession, but if you don't want it…"
"WAIT! How could I reject such divine generosity?! I'll take it!"
"Then eat this fruit." Shin handed him an Artificial Devil Fruit.
Sakuragi eyed it suspiciously but, under Shin's gaze, he obediently took a bite.
"Ugh! It tastes horrible! Huh? Where did he go?"
Shin, already preparing for his next world hop, smirked as his system confirmed:
[Major fate alteration detected. Slam Dunk World successfully integrated into Base Camp World.]
This fruit was nothing more than a basic artificial human enhancement, created by Vegapunk. While it wasn't game-breaking in the One Piece world, it was enough to give Sakuragi Hanamichi absurd physical prowess in a non-supernatural world.
If he trained properly, he could easily dominate the NBA. Even without training, his raw athleticism alone would allow him to overpower professional players effortlessly.
"Alright, let's move on."
This encounter had given Shin a fun idea. What if he went to different worlds and gave their protagonists a Devil Fruit?
That would certainly shake things up.
With a new plan in mind, Shin set off on his next adventure.
His next few destinations were…
A world so mundane he couldn't even identify a main story.
A historical drama that seemed rooted in real-world history.
A flooded, post-apocalyptic world where humanity lived on boats.
None of them offered much in terms of power progression, but they at least helped replenish his world-travel energy.
Finally, on his sixth attempt, Shin arrived somewhere truly familiar…
