Chapter 96 - Daelan POV
The sun is painfully bright. I blink up at the ceiling, groaning as my brain throbs against my skull. My mouth is dry, my thoughts are a tangled mess, and my body feels like I've been in a brawl with a troll.
What the hell happened last night?
I vaguely remember the gala. Kissing my goddess. That smug look on Evan's face. Then more drinks. Lots more drinks. And... her laughing in my ear, whispering something sinful. Gods.
I sit up, squinting against the light filtering in through the gauzy curtains. This isn't my room. The bedding is too crisp, the scent too sterile. My neck aches, probably from sleeping wrong. My eyes drift to the side—and there she is.
My beloved goddess.
Her long dark hair spills across the pillows like waves of ink, stark against the pristine white of the bed. Her back rises and falls in steady rhythm, and I catch a glimpse of her bare shoulder peeking from beneath the sheets. A soft snore escapes her.
