For Daemon, it was very difficult to tell the time without a sun. He truly missed seeing a blue sky accompanied by the bright sun. He had nothing else to do but wait.
There he was, sitting on a bench in a plaza in the underworld. If it weren't for the strange plants and some rare animals and insects, it would look like a completely normal plaza—well, as normal as a grand central plaza in Babylon or Rome, with the detail of being surrounded by a dense forest.
His expression portrayed how annoyed he was, with his eyebrows furrowed and a notable twitch, his arms crossed. He'd been waiting three days for the arrival of the alchemist. According to the information his servants had given him, it should have taken at most a full day. What audacity—how dare he? After three full days, he was nowhere to be seen. Daemon wondered if something had happened to his poor alchemist, and thinking about this, his expression turned gloomy. He realized that having to find another alchemist would be a true hassle and would delay his plans.
Out of nowhere, Daemon heard a strange sound in the forest. He turned his head toward the noise, sharpening his gaze. Among the trees, he noticed a figure darting through them at high speed, coming closer and closer. At one point, the figure broke through the last bushes, and Daemon could see that it was a demon—a fairly small demon wearing a yellow robe, completely covered by a thick cloak. The cloak had a hood that covered almost his entire face except for his chin. He held a long wooden staff in his hand, resembling the staff of an ancient sorcerer, and carried a brown bag. Daemon might have been impressed if it weren't for the demon's ragged clothing and slightly frightened appearance.
The unknown demon continued running in a straight line. When he saw Daemon, a renewed strength propelled him to run even faster. Daemon wondered why he was running so desperately. Then he saw it—just a few meters behind the unknown demon, an enormous lion followed. Its mane seemed to blaze at the tips, its gaze was crazed, and on its forehead, there was a huge red jewel. Its giant fangs dripped with saliva, eager for prey. Its paws, equipped with enormous claws made to disembowel all sorts of creatures, moved with great speed.
The lion, seeing its prey gain strength, leaped with a beastly thrust, as if to expose its presence and the demon's imminent fatal destiny, letting out a ferocious roar, *"GGRRRUAAAAHHH!"* The demon only saw an enormous shadow appear above him. He knew his time had come and regretted provoking that lion, but he coveted the gem on its forehead. He squeezed his eyes shut tightly, bracing for his brutal end in the lion's jaws. He waited... but his end didn't come. Confused, he looked back and saw Daemon standing a few meters in front of him. The lion, which had been about to claim his life, was now crashed against a tree that split upon impact. The lion looked pitiful—most of its teeth were broken, its nose was bleeding, forming a small cascade of blood, and its eyes were blank. The lion hadn't even realized how it had been hit. One moment, it had been savoring its prey, and the next, pain had overwhelmed it, then everything went completely black.
Daemon was astonished by his own strength. He looked at the lion; though he had no interest in the demon's life or death, he felt it was a waste. He sensed the magical power of that lion and knew it was no match for him. When the lion leaped, Daemon did too, but he was much faster. He intercepted it mid-air, deciding to show off by performing a 360-degree flip to end the rotation with a powerful kick to the lion's nose. The effect was immediate—like a bullet, the lion was sent flying, spinning completely knocked out.
Daemon's landing, unlike the lion's, was smooth. Turning his body, he looked at the unknown demon, pointed his finger, and shouted, *"HEY, YOU IDIOT DEMON, DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE STANDING IN FRONT OF? IDENTIFY YOURSELF!"*
The demon seemed to receive an electric shock and, motivated by Daemon's words, fell to his knees before him. Taking a deep breath, he said, *"Your esteemed Excellency, forgive this humble being who does not ignore your greatness, even though it is already clear to me. My name is Ereya; I am merely a humble alchemist in service to Lord Lucifer."* Saying this, he bowed even lower.
Now Daemon understood, though he needed to know the whole story. *"So you're an alchemist. You know you're in front of the great Daemon Nightmare Lucifer, and I remember calling you over three days ago. Tell me, what happened that kept you from answering my call? Do you not fear that I might cut off your head for disobedience?"*
Daemon said this while looking at him with a scrutinizing gaze. Surprised by Daemon's words, the demon quickly lifted his head, causing his hood to fall back. Daemon saw her beautiful, crystalline green eyes. Her pale green hair was braided, and her face was delicate. In that plaza, Daemon had the illusion of being in a field of flowers after looking directly into Ereya's eyes; he felt that the girl before him was an angel, not a demon. Coming out of his stupor, he now noticed that beneath that thick cloak, Ereya concealed a truly sinful figure worthy of a demon.
