Chapter 47: Flight Magic.
Dudley rubbed his eyes, trying to make sure he hadn't misread the game panel.
"System, is this for real?" he asked, still in disbelief.
[Host, everything listed on the game panel is true.]
[You will instantly master the chosen magic.]
"Woah, wait a minute. Before this, my game panel only offered talent points, senses, or stats. Why am I being offered magic now?" Dudley asked, confused.
[Because the host managed to defeat one of the inner circle Death Eaters.]
[This is considered a high-tier reward, which is why magic is now available.]
[Please choose which one you want to learn.]
[Each option guarantees instant mastery.]
"Are you kidding me?" Dudley said, still skeptical.
[Host, I am not kidding.]
"Alright, thanks for the rewards. But can I choose more than one? What if I pick one—can I get the same rewards next time?" Dudley asked rapidly.
[No, host. The rewards are generated randomly.]
[You can only choose one, and the list will close afterward.]
"Oh no, I really want two of these!" Dudley begged.
[Sorry, host. I cannot override my programming.]
"Okay, I get it. But before I decide, which magic can't I learn in this universe?" Dudley asked, thinking ahead.
[Unsupported flight is the only magic you cannot learn.]
[It does not exist in the novel version of this world—only in the game and movie versions.]
"Ugh, wait a minute. I really want both B and C. B is important to protect my mind, but C is just as crucial," Dudley muttered, struggling with the decision.
[Host, please confirm whether you choose B or C.]
"This is tough... Alright, I'll go with C—unsupported flight," Dudley confirmed.
[Rewards are being distributed.]
Suddenly, Dudley felt new knowledge pouring into his mind—a combination of the floating spell and the experience of flight magic.
He pulled out his wand and recited, "Volare Solutus," while performing the wand movement. His body began to float, and he could control the height of his levitation.
Dudley tried to move but found himself stuck in place, merely hovering. He then cast another spell, "Volans Libertas." At first, he remained static, but after casting the spell, he was able to move freely through the air, going wherever he wished.
"Didn't Voldemort make his flight magic appear dark?" Dudley muttered. Raising his wand again, he said, "Volatus Coloris," and suddenly, his aura turned dark.
The color of his flight aura depended on his thoughts—when he imagined black, it became dark; when he thought of warmth, it became light.
Changing the color of flight magic was important because it helped him blend into the night sky, making it harder for others to see him.
After testing his magic for about five minutes, Dudley released the spells and decided to leave the empty classroom.
---Meeting Dumbledore---
"Dudley, Professor Dumbledore wants to see you in the Headmaster's office," said the Hufflepuff Prefect.
"Ok, thank you," Dudley smiled.
As he thought about meeting Dumbledore, Dudley sighed.
"I hope he won't try something foolish like reading my mind," he muttered.
When he reached the door, he knocked.
"Come in," Dumbledore's voice called from inside.
"Thank you for seeing me," said Dudley as he entered. "Oh, and you're here too, Professor Sprout and Professor McGonagall."
He had expected Professor Sprout, but seeing Professor McGonagall surprised him since she was the head of Gryffindor, not Hufflepuff.
"They're here to discuss the recent incident," Dumbledore explained.
"Alright, I understand," Dudley replied. "So, is there anything you'd like to ask?"
"Yes, we definitely have questions," McGonagall interjected.
"Please, go ahead," Dudley responded.
"It's regarding your altercation with Professors Snape and Malfoy," Dumbledore began. "Eyewitnesses say you didn't do anything—just stared at them. Can you explain what really happened?"
"Yeah, well, those so-called professors tried to read my mind," Dudley revealed.
"What?" Both Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout were shocked.
"I can't believe this. I need to speak with Snape," said Professor Sprout, getting visibly agitated.
Dumbledore, sensing the need to steer the conversation, cut in.
"That doesn't answer the question, though. How did you manage to injure them?" he asked, looking directly at Dudley.
"Well, you could say my mental defenses are quite strong. If someone tries to read my mind, I can… well, make them suffer in the moment of the intrusion," Dudley replied calmly.
"What?" Professor Sprout and Professor McGonagall were once again taken aback.
"Yes, I can deflect a Legilimency attack back onto the caster," Dudley confirmed.
"May I try reading your mind?" asked Professor Dumbledore, his tone serious.
"Albus!" Professor McGonagall exclaimed, shocked at his willingness to test the limits of Dudley's mental powers.
"You can," Dudley said, "but are you sure you can handle the consequences? I don't want to see a third professor sent to the infirmary."
Since he'd entered Dumbledore's office, Dudley had carefully avoided making eye contact with the headmaster, aware of Dumbledore's mastery in Legilimency.
"I can handle it, Dudley. Please, look at me," said Professor Dumbledore calmly.
'Well, you asked for it,' Dudley thought. He silently commanded, 'Gamer mode, activate.'
Dudley then locked eyes with Professor Dumbledore. The headmaster tried to delve into Dudley's mind, but like before, Dumbledore was pulled into a mental vortex, tortured by the same magical force that had overwhelmed Severus Snape and Lucius Malfoy.
After a few seconds, Professor Dumbledore staggered and fainted.
"Albus!"
"Dumbledore!"
Professor Sprout rushed to him, desperately trying to wake him, but her efforts were in vain. Professor McGonagall cast a Finite Incantatem, but Dumbledore remained unconscious.
"We need to get him to the infirmary," Dudley said, his tone serious.
[Congratulations on defeating the most powerful wizard of this century.]
But before the system could finish announcing his rewards, Dudley dismissed it with a wave of his hand. He had more pressing matters to deal with at the moment.
Together, they carried Professor Dumbledore to the hospital wing. The news spread quickly through the school—students were shocked when they realized the person being levitated to the infirmary was none other than Dumbledore himself. Rumors flew, with some speculating that the headmaster, over a century old, had finally reached his end.
Madam Pomfrey had the most intense reaction when they arrived.
"What happened to Professor Dumbledore?" she asked, rushing over. She cast several diagnostic spells, her expression growing more concerned.
"This... this is just like what happened to Professor Snape and Professor Malfoy," she said, then turned her gaze to Dudley. "Well, care to tell me what's really going on?"
"What a drag," Dudley muttered, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
