Some of the people in the crowd began to fall asleep, even some of the guards became subjected to the unbearable drowsiness.
On the stage, Sofia began to sway after the words left her mouth. Maria's eyes widened as she rushed over to catch her.
"Are you okay! What the hell is going on!?!?"
Behind her Ashley had a small smile on her face, her drowsy eyes fighting to remain open. She looked at her fallen sister then over to Maria.
As the guards rushed to help them and move the others, she called out to her.
"Dr. Snow, I know this looks bad but trust me this is the best outcome. I need to ask a favor of you."
Maria turned looking at her, her eyes were getting heavier and her words started to become intangible.
"Watch.... us. Protect... Soph..... The facility.... password..... 7687 delta.... please. Trust...."
Before she could say anything else she fell into a deep slumber. Leaving Maria with no explanation, all she knew was that this was supposed to occur and that she was being trusted with both of their lives.
The guard looked to her for instruction, she hesitated then took charge.
"Take these two to the car, then send a unit to grab everyone who feel asleep in the crowd. I don't know what happened, but I will need as many people as I can to figure it out."
"Yes ma'am."
The man left, and instructed two more to grab the two. She walked over and picked up the book.
'Did you know this would happen, Sun?'
She then followed them to the car and headed towards the Bryne facility.
Later she watched over the sleeping patients, many doctors were insuring they remaind healthy and watched over their condition.
"Ma'am, I have a report."
"Go ahead."
She stood outside of the room, watching through the window.
"Everything seems to be normal from our perspective, vitals seem normal. It all just seems like they fell into a deep slumber. But there is a chance some could be comatose, but it's too soon to tell."
She looked at the woman for a moment, then thought about Sofia.
"Then the best thing to do is to either wait for some one to awake, or figure out how to do it ourselves."
"Yes ma'am, but there's one more thing."
She looked at the woman once more:
"There seems to be a lot of brain activity, each patient shows a difference in the activity. But most show more activity than should be normal for a regular person."
"Is that bad?"
The woman shook her head, then handed her a clipboard:
"Not necessarily, but I think you should be aware that, a certain amount can be damaging. This shows what to look out for."
Maria went over the pages on the clipboard, she noticed the last two pages showed two patients. She then looked up at the woman.
"The two with the highest readings, are the Bryne sisters, I would advice keeping watch over them especially."
Maria place the pages back and handed her the clipboard:
"Thank you doctor. I would like to ask that you look over them personally. They are a special, and I trust your judgment and honesty. So if you could, please help me keep them alive."
The woman, took the clipboard back and bowed slightly.
"Thank you ma'am, I will do my best."
"Thank you, I will inform the others. You will be given a special badge, giving you access to higher clearance, as well as special privileges. I know you won't let me down."
With that, the two headed towards the room where they were being kept. The doctor was given the badge and got straight to work on the two.
--
Two weeks have past since the world fell asleep, no new information had been found in that time. That is, until the first person woke up.
Deep underground in a cellar under a prison, and man woke up from a deep sleep. He slowly stood taking in his surroundings, he was in a dark room with nothing but a bed, toilet, and sink. Infront of him stood a large metal door, keeping him from leaving.
The man stretched his unfamiliar body, and yawned as he took a step forward. Reaching the door, he felt around till he found its placement. A wicked smile appeared on his face as he took a step back. His eyes began to glow a dark blue color as he pulled his fist back. He swung at the door, sending it flying back off its hinges.
He walked through the door, flinching at the sudden light. He smiled as he saw a guard running in his direction.
The guard readied his gun and fired at the man, the bullet shot him in the shoulder causing him to flinch back.
The man turned back towards the guard with a pained expression on his face. He reached for his shoulder, then did something unexpected. He reached into the wound and took the bullet out, throwing it to the ground.
The man smiled wickedly at the guard, whom stood there in shock. Right before his eyes the wound on the man slowly began to seal itself. The man then rose his hands slightly and the ground began to shake, around them. Throwing his hands out, water rushed from every cell around them, effortlessly breaking through the metal doors.
In an instant the whole area turned red as the alarms were set off through out the whole building.
The man took the keycard from the guards lifeless body and headed towards the elevator. Opening the door, he used the water to break through its roof. He used, it to flow up to the ground floor.
There were no survivors left in his wake.
