Wushuang and Ghost Face's plane made an emergency landing on a small island off the southern coast of China, just an hour's flight from the Philippines after their plane's fuel system developed a fault. With no other choice, they landed on the island. Ghost Face fixed the fuel system, but they ran out of fuel and couldn't find any source to replenish it. They stayed on the island for three days until a fishing boat headed out to sea in the vicinity of Beihai, near the Philippines, where they hitched a ride and switched boats to reach the Philippines.
Their schedule wasn't tight, and arrangements were flexible; they took their time to explore the island. The fisherman providing them shelter was Chinese, a middle-aged couple with a six-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter, whose entire livelihood depended on the father's fishing.
