"Mu Chen, what is this God of Slaughter Domain you mentioned earlier? And what about the God Core? Soul Beasts need a God Core to become gods, but what do humans need to achieve godhood?"
Instructor Ruo Lin pressed Mu Chen with questions, eagerly awaiting his answers.
"Instructor Ruo Lin, it's getting late," Xiao Yu said with a smile, gently reminding her.
Ever since Ruo Lin met Mu Chen, she had been captivated by everything about the Douluo Dimension. Not only did Mu Chen share knowledge about the Douluo Dimension with her, but he also told her about the Battle Qi Plane and the White Snake: Origins Dimension—things she had never known before.
"Is it already late? How did time pass so quickly today?" Ruo Lin looked at Mu Chen with regret. Being with him, she suddenly realized that time, which usually felt slow, had flown by this time. Moreover, she felt incredibly happy and comfortable in his presence.
What Ruo Lin probably didn't realize was that Mu Chen had been mentored by Tang Yuehua from the Douluo Dimension, and he had surpassed his teacher in many ways. Having learned court etiquette and music, Mu Chen had a natural charm and emotional intelligence that made others feel at ease around him. Coupled with his slightly mischievous nature—after all, as the saying goes, "nice guys finish last"—Mu Chen was practically a woman's kryptonite.
"Mm," Xiao Yu nodded, releasing Ruo Lin's arm and smiling. "Instructor, Mu Chen won't be leaving for a while. If you want to seek his guidance, you can come to him anytime."
"Really?" Ruo Lin's eyes lit up as she looked at Mu Chen.
Spending time with him had not only broadened her horizons, but Mu Chen had also shared some cultivation techniques that greatly benefited her cultivation. Additionally, Mu Chen had a unique aura about him, much like her own gentle and serene demeanor, which deeply attracted her.
"Yes, Instructor Ruo Lin, you're welcome to come to me anytime," Mu Chen replied with a warm smile.
"Great, it's settled then. I'll trouble you again tomorrow," Ruo Lin said happily.
"Ruo Lin, you're too polite," Mu Chen addressed her by her first name, and Ruo Lin didn't mind at all. They bid each other farewell in good spirits.
"Mu Chen, where will you sleep tonight?" Xiao Yu asked the crucial question.
"How about sleeping at your place?" Mu Chen asked, half-jokingly.
"No," Xiao Yu shook her head shyly.
"Didn't you say that before marriage, everything except that is fine?" Mu Chen teased with a mischievous grin.
"Still no. Xue Ni sometimes sneaks into my bed in the middle of the night. If she caught us, it would be so embarrassing. There's already been one misunderstanding today. If it happens again, I'm not sure if she'd even stay friends with me," Xiao Yu explained.
"Wouldn't it be more exciting if she caught us?" Mu Chen chuckled.
"Huh?" Xiao Yu looked at him in surprise.
Mu Chen reached out and flicked her forehead gently, smiling. "Silly girl, I'm just teasing you. Go inside and rest. I'll get some sleep too."
As soon as Mu Chen finished speaking, a ripple formed around him, and he appeared on a cliff overlooking the entire Jia Nan Academy. Standing there, he gazed down at the sprawling campus below.
Mu Chen watched as Xiao Yu entered the girls' dormitory, then with a thought, he took out the Enlightenment Futon. Unconcerned about being disturbed, he sat down on the futon. The futon emitted a spherical barrier that enveloped Mu Chen entirely.
Mu Chen had tested the defensive capabilities of the Enlightenment Futon and was confident that even the most powerful experts, such as Hun Tian Di and Gu Yuan, could not break through the barrier it formed.
"Hey, are you Mu Chen?"
A crisp, questioning voice broke the silence of the cliff.
As the voice faded, Mu Chen, seated on the Enlightenment Futon, remained motionless.
"Hey, are you deaf? I'm talking to you! You really know how to hide, don't you? I've been looking all over for you. Are you Mu Chen?"
The girl's voice fell again, but Mu Chen still didn't move.
"I'm warning you, if you don't want to get beaten black and blue every day, stay away from my Ruo Lin."
Not receiving any response from Mu Chen, the girl seemed to be warning him as if talking to herself.
"Did you hear me?"
The girl frowned as Mu Chen still didn't give her any response.
One second passed, then five, then ten, and still, the girl received no reply from Mu Chen. Her frown deepened, and she struck out with a palm towards Mu Chen, who was enveloped in a nine-colored light.
Thud
The palm print formed by the girl's Dou Qi landed on the nine-colored barrier without causing even a ripple, like a stone falling into an abyss. It certainly didn't disturb Mu Chen.
"Huh?"
The girl's expression changed as she looked at the nine-colored barrier in surprise. Although she had only struck casually, there had been no sound at all. She immediately struck out with another palm.
Thud
Even after using half her strength, the barrier remained undisturbed. The girl's pride was deeply offended, and her Dou Qi surged as she struck the barrier twice more.
Thud
Thud
The girl was astonished to find that even after using seventy percent and then all of her Dou Qi, she couldn't make the barrier budge an inch.
"What is this thing?"
The girl stepped forward, intending to approach the nine-colored barrier, when a figure suddenly appeared in front of her.
"Cease your disrespect."
The newcomer was an old man, his voice carrying the hoarseness characteristic of age.
"How did you get here?" the girl asked calmly, showing no respect for the seemingly powerful old man.
"I am Hu Qian, the vice-principal of the outer court of Jia Nan Academy. May I ask which esteemed expert has graced our academy?" Hu Qian bowed respectfully towards Mu Chen as he inquired.
Several seconds passed, and Mu Chen, still seated on the Enlightenment Futon, remained motionless.
"My grandfather is speaking to you, are you mute?" the girl snapped.
Hu Qian had a good temper, but the girl did not. Seeing that Mu Chen still wasn't responding, she couldn't help but scold him.
"Stop being disrespectful," Hu Qian glared at his precious granddaughter.
With a wave of his hand, Mu Chen retracted the nine-colored barrier but made no move to stand up from the Enlightenment Futon. He looked at Hu Qian with a calm gaze and asked, "Are you here to drive me away?"
"Little brother, you must be joking," Hu Qian chuckled awkwardly. He had actually arrived much earlier and witnessed Hu Jia's attempt to attack Mu Chen. Hu Qian admitted to himself that even if he had intervened, he wouldn't have been confident in breaking the nine-colored barrier that had just appeared.
Thus, one conclusion was evident: despite his young age, Mu Chen's cultivation was already unfathomable.
Hu Qian smiled and said, "Little brother, you are most welcome to stay here as long as you wish. But could you perhaps tell me your background?"
"Mu Chen, from the Miter family," Mu Chen replied succinctly.
"So, you're from the Miter family. Little brother, I won't disturb your cultivation any further," Hu Qian said with a smile, bowing slightly to Mu Chen before turning to leave.
As Hu Qian walked away, Hu Jia remained in place, staring at Mu Chen. "Hey, did you hear what I said earlier?" she demanded.
Mu Chen looked at the devilishly alluring girl in red. With her willow-leaf eyebrows and an elfin, mischievous face, she was indeed a beauty among hundreds. "What did you say?" he asked.
Hu Jia replied, "If you don't want to end up with a bruised face, stay away from Ruo Lin."
Mu Chen calmly met Hu Jia's gaze. He had long heard that Jia Nan Academy had a femme fatale who could charm both men and women, and now that he had seen her, she truly lived up to her reputation. As he looked at Hu Jia, his mind drifted to Zi Zhenzhu, who was similarly known for her ability to captivate both genders. Recalling the tender moments he had shared with Zi Zhenzhu, Mu Chen couldn't help but wonder what kind of spectacle would unfold if this enchantress before him were to meet Zi Zhenzhu.
Hu Jia, undaunted, boldly met Mu Chen's gaze and shouted, "Did you hear me?"
"It's late. Go wash up and get some sleep."
With a wave of his hand, Mu Chen summoned a whirlwind that lifted Hu Jia into the air and carried her over to the lake at the center of the academy. Just as suddenly, the whirlwind dissipated, and with a loud splash, poor Hu Jia plummeted thirty meters into the lake.
Mu Chen's response wasn't particularly damaging, but it was undeniably humiliating.
"Damn it!"
Hu Jia's head emerged from the water, her hands clenched tightly beneath the surface. She glared at the cliff, gritted her teeth, and slapped the water with all her might, sending waves several meters high. "This isn't over between us!" she snarled.
