"Hey! Are you listening to me?" The gruff voice of a portly man with a balding head cut across his musings.
"Hmm? Ah, apologies, I must have spaced out for a moment there, what were you saying?" Ren lifted his head up from his hand and smiled politely at his ruddy face and watery eyes that wore a perpetual frown.
"...figures. Damn diversity hires. Always useless." He mumbled under his breath but Ren caught every word, retaining the soft smile on his face.
'No. Let's not hang him. Let's slice him up a little first, choke him with his own intestines until the blood vessels in his eyes burst like little red balloons.'
"Sorry, sir. What was that?" Ren asked politely, feigning ignorance.
