-----------------

This particular pack of Poochyena and Mightyena easily numbered over a hundred. Under the leadership of the pack leader, they had completely surrounded Sato and his Pokémon with their backs to the river.

As soon as Sato made a move, several Poochyena and Mightyena who knew the move Shadow Ball simultaneously fired them from their mouths.

In an instant, at least twenty dark, shadowy orbs hurtled toward Sato, who was mounted on Arcanine.

"Arcanine, use Fire Spin on the enemies on the right flank, disrupt their formation. Gyarados, use Twister on the left flank—buy as much time as possible for the others."

"Bellossom, Leaf Storm!"

"Ursaring, Belly Drum, followed by Fury Swipes!"

"Ariados, Swords Dance, followed by Focus Energy, and then Pin Missile!"

As soon as Sato released all his Pokémon, he swiftly jumped off Arcanine's back. He positioned himself behind the just-summoned Ursaring and began calmly issuing commands to his team.

Arcanine, upon hearing the command, instantly burst into a blaze of white-hot flames, his entire body cloaked in intense heat. The incoming Shadow Balls were instantly incinerated by the fire shroud surrounding him.

He then opened his jaws wide, unleashing a massive Fire Spin from his mouth.

Next, he turned into a red blur and charged straight into the enemy pack, weaving through the Poochyena and Mightyena with blazing speed and heat, cutting through them like a hot knife through butter.

Faced with Arcanine's Fire Spin, many of the Poochyena and Mightyena visibly panicked, choosing to abandon the right flank and avoid a head-on clash.

But what awaited them was a monstrously large Arcanine cloaked in fire, easily several times their size. Arcanine charged through their ranks unimpeded, every Mightyena or Poochyena that dared to challenge him head-on was knocked away and set ablaze.

Within seconds, the right flank of the enemy pack was in chaos, its formation in shambles thanks to Arcanine.

"Roooaaaar!!"

On the other side, the moment the red Gyarados appeared, it let out a thunderous roar. Its Intimidate ability immediately activated, enhanced by its Special Ability - Tyrant," unleashing a strengthened Intimidation Field.

In that instant, many of the lower-level Poochyena and Mightyena with weaker wills began frothing at the mouth, their eyes rolling back before collapsing unconscious.

This red Gyarados, with both Intimidate and the Special Ability - Tyrant, was truly the bane of mobs. Even before the real attack began, he had already wiped out a large portion of enemies.

Noticing the pile of unconscious foes, Gyarados' eyes glinted with smug satisfaction.

But when it caught sight of Sato's stern gaze, a chill ran down its spine. It immediately snapped back to focus and carried out the next command. A wave of pure Dragon-type energy surged from its body.

Within seconds, a five-meter-wide Twister materialized over the left flank where the enemy had chosen to attack.

The storm, generated entirely from Dragon energy, was fierce and unrelenting. The average-sized Poochyena and Mightyena—roughly the size of a mid-sized dog—were easily swept up by the violent vortex and spun around wildly within.

With both the left and right flanks obstructed, the only direction left for the pack to charge from was the front.

However, those charging head-on weren't in for an easy time either. At Sato's command, Bellossom unleashed a terrifying surge of Grass-type energy.

In the blink of an eye, a dense swarm of vibrant green energy leaves appeared around her. Under her control, the leaves layered upon each other to form a giant Leaf Storm.

"Bell!!"

Bellossom raised her glowing green hands high, shouted sharply, and then thrust them forward.

Instantly, the leaves making up the Leaf Storm transformed into sharp arrows, raining down on the advancing Poochyena and Mightyena.

A cacophony of wails echoed out as the front ranks were consumed by Bellossom's attack.

After launching her Leaf Storm, Bellossom pulled out two long leaves from her leafy skirt. She channeled a dense wave of Grass-type energy into them, instantly turning them into sharp, durable leaf blades.

With her twin swords in hand, Bellossom began a graceful Swords Dance and engaged in close combat with any enemies that had managed to break through.

At this time, Ursaring had completed the preparations for Belly Drum. His fighting spirit soared to its peak, and he once again transformed into a powerhouse—a muscular bear with explosive strength for the next ten minutes.

"ROAAARRR!!!"

He charged howling into the horde, swatting aside Poochyena and Mightyena like ragdolls, each strike felling one with ease.

Ariados was a little slower to act, but with Arcanine, red Gyarados, Bellossom, and Ursaring all drawing the enemy's attention, it finally completed both Swords Dance and Focus Energy.

Then, the horn on its forehead and all its sharp limbs flared with blinding white light as countless white needle-like Pin Missiles launched from its body.

In fact, in this mass battle, Ariados—a Bug-type Pokémon—was the true main damage dealer. Its Bug-type move Pin Missile was doubly effective against the Dark-type Poochyena and Mightyena.

Now at full firepower, Ariados' Pin Missiles rained out like machine-gun fire, piercing into the enemy ranks.

Boosted by both Swords Dance and Focus Energy, Ariados' Pin Missiles were devastatingly strong and carried a high critical hit rate.

At this moment, all the Poochyena and Mightyena struck by the attack howled in unbearable pain and collapsed, unable to continue fighting.

The entire battle lasted about ten minutes. After nearly half its forces were defeated without bringing down Sato's team, the pack leader, who had been commanding from the rear, finally relented and gave the signal to retreat.

In an instant, the once-fearless Poochyena and Mightyena—who had relied on their numbers to act so boldly—turned tail and fled, vanishing into the endless grasslands in a blink.

"Phew~ That was rough. If these wolves hadn't backed off, our little squad might not have made it out of this one."

Seeing the enemy completely retreat, Sato's tense expression finally eased. He took out a bottle of antiseptic and gritted his teeth as he poured it over a claw wound on his thigh.

Though Sato and his team had won the battle, it could only be described as a pyrrhic victory.

Under the pack leader's command, the wolf pack had coordinated attacks and used moves like Shadow Ball and Hyper Fang, inflicting quite the damage on Sato's Pokémon.

Ursaring and the lower-level red Gyarados were the first to fall, gravely injured. If Sato hadn't quickly recalled them into their PokeBalls, they likely would've perished.

Arcanine was also badly battered. He had clashed directly with the pack leader using Flare Blitz. In fact, if Arcanine hadn't gravely wounded the leader, the order to retreat might never have come.

Bellossom and Ariados, however, emerged with only minor injuries. Thanks to the sunny weather, Bellossom was able to sustain herself with Synthesis, and combined with her expert swordsmanship, she became a true Valkyrie on the battlefield.

Ariados, stationed safely in the rear and tasked with pure offense, naturally had the least damage. However, after releasing Pin Missile for nearly ten straight minutes, it was now completely exhausted and collapsed in fatigue.
