"She Wuwan..."
Hearing this name, Su Yao's expression froze momentarily. Soon, as though recalling something, a faint blush appeared on her delicate cheeks, and her mesmerizing eyes revealed a trace of indescribable, complex emotions.
Seeing Su Yao's reaction, Mo Yu grew even more certain that she indeed shared some hidden connection with She Wuwan.
At the side, the young woman in colorful attire, looked puzzled. It was her first time witnessing her usually composed master blushing, an event that greatly surprised her. In her impression, her master had always been calm and unshakable.
Elder Huan Yin, however, seemed to recall something from the depths of her memory and looked at Mo Yu in astonishment.
"She Wuwan…" Su Yao murmured again before turning her gaze to Mo Yu. "What is your connection to him?"
"I met She Lao by chance. We've been through thick and thin together. To me, he is a senior as dear as family," Mo Yu said solemnly.
Since his rebirth, She Lao had given him tremendous help. Thus, in Mo Yu's heart, She Lao held an extraordinary status.
"A senior as dear as family..." Su Yao's captivating eyes studied Mo Yu closely. No wonder she had sensed a faintly familiar aura from him earlier. It turned out to be his connection with... him.
Yet, as if struck by some unpleasant memory, Su Yao's delicate face turned icy. Her tone grew cold as she said to Mo Yu, "I'm sorry, but I do not know this person."
Startled by Su Yao's sudden shift in demeanor, Mo Yu was momentarily stunned before realizing the reason behind it. A wry smile formed on his lips.
It seemed that the events of the past still lingered in the heart of the Valley Master of the Sound Valley.
And understandably so. She Lao had indeed been in the wrong back then. Even if mistakes had already been made, at the very least, he should have shamelessly sought forgiveness.
From Mo Yu's perspective, most women were outwardly sharp-tongued but inwardly soft-hearted. If She Lao had earnestly worked hard for forgiveness, it wasn't entirely impossible for him to win back this Valley Master.
Shaking his head, Mo Yu decided he'd have to clean up She Lao's mess himself. He cupped his hands respectfully toward Su Yao and said sincerely:
"Valley Master Su, She Lao often spoke of you with me, expressing his deep longing. He deeply regrets the events of the past and has always wished for an opportunity to apologize and seek your forgiveness."
Hearing Mo Yu's words, Su Yao's icy expression softened slightly, though her tone remained cold. "Decades have passed, yet I've never seen any trace of him."
Sensing a glimmer of hope, Mo Yu felt relieved and hurriedly said, "Valley Master Su, it's not that She Lao is unwilling, but that he's unable."
Frowning, Su Yao asked, "What do you mean?"
"To be honest, She Lao encountered powerful enemies. By the time I met him, he was already reduced to a mere spiritual form. Later, due to unforeseen circumstances, She Lao burned away his bloodline power to save me. As a result, he has fallen into a deep slumber.
"This time, aside from coming to Sound Valley at Elder Huan Yin's request, I also wished to ask for your guidance on a way to revive She Lao," Mo Yu explained in detail.
"What? With his abilities, he ended up as a spiritual form and is now in a deep slumber?"
Hearing this, Su Yao clenched her hands tightly, her beautiful face betraying a flicker of nervousness.
Mo Yu nodded solemnly, then removed the beast ring from his hand. He lifted the soul seal on it and handed it to Su Yao.
Receiving the beast ring, Su Yao understood Mo Yu's intentions. Slowly, she channeled her soul force into it. When she sensed that familiar aura, her enchanting eyes revealed a complex blend of longing, worry, and resentment.
"Master…"
At this moment, Dan Qin'Er also discerned that this She Wuwan must have shared an extraordinary relationship with her master. With concern, she said:
"Valley Master Su, She Lao and you may have some misunderstandings, but this is now a matter of life and death. I hope you can let bygones be bygones and not hold onto the past grievances.
"She Lao mentioned that it's not entirely impossible to revive him. However, it requires finding a way to evolve the Seven-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent into a Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent.
"I once met the old patriarch of the Golden Warhorse Clan, Ma Chen. He told me that back in your youth, you, She Lao, and he journeyed across the continent together. He also mentioned that you might have some knowledge about the Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent," Mo Yu said earnestly.
"The Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent... That's quite a tall order." Hearing that She Lao could be revived, Su Yao visibly relaxed. However, her brows furrowed as she continued.
The Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent was an ancient magical beast. By now, it had long since gone extinct. Most people probably hadn't even heard of it.
Returning the beast ring to Mo Yu, Su Yao shook her head and sighed softly. "I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about the Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent."
Hearing this, Mo Yu opened his mouth slightly but could only let out a bitter laugh. If even this failed, then he was out of options.
"However…" Su Yao's gaze lingered on Mo Yu as her tone suddenly shifted. "I do possess an item that might help you locate the Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent's legacy."
"Oh? What item?" Mo Yu asked eagerly.
Instead of responding directly, Su Yao slid her slender fingers over her storage ring, retrieving a scale radiating an immensely powerful bloodline aura.
"This is a treasure I acquired at an auction when I was young. After some research in ancient texts, I discovered that it might very well be a scale from the Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent.
"This level of magical beast is far beyond ordinary comprehension. With this scale, if you ever step into a place connected to the Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent's legacy, it will glow, alerting you to its presence.
"Though it's akin to searching for a needle in a haystack, it can still offer some small help," Su Yao explained.
"Thank you, Valley Master Su. This item is of great help to me." Mo Yu respectfully accepted the radiant purple-gold scale from her hands.
With this "locator radar," his chances of success in locating clues about the Nine-Winged Purple-Gold Serpent's legacy significantly improved.
"You're welcome. After all, he is still…" Su Yao's voice trailed off, her mesmerizing eyes revealing a trace of nostalgia.
Understanding her sentiment, Mo Yu smiled knowingly.
Clearly, despite everything, Su Yao had never truly let go of She Lao.
After obtaining the Purple-Gold Scale, Mo Yu didn't forget his primary task. He began repairing the Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither.
Sound Valley truly lived up to its reputation as one of the three great valleys. Although the materials required to repair the zither were exceptionally rare, within just half a day, they had been delivered to Mo Yu.
As the words fell, the female disciples of Sound Valley around her began chattering nonstop.
"I heard from the elders in the valley that this young man is about our age, but he already won the championship of the recent Refining Convention! He's a genuine eighth-grade weapon refiner!"
"My god, such a young eighth-grade weapon refiner and so handsome! If only I could marry him..."
"You little vixen! A dignified eighth-grade weapon refiner, this young, with limitless potential—how could he possibly look at you? Keep dreaming."
"Hmph, maybe he'd fancy me for my youth and beauty. What if he really does fall for me..."
...
"Silence! Do not disturb Master Mo Yu!"
As whispers filled the square, Elder Huan Yin frowned and reprimanded sternly from her position at the head of the stone platform.
The moment her voice fell, the disciples of Sound Valley around the square froze, and the area fell into an immediate hush. No one dared to make a sound.
As an enforcer of Sound Valley's Discipline Hall, Elder Huan Yin clearly held a high status in the valley. Furthermore, the restoration of the Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither was of utmost importance to Sound Valley. Even the inner disciples didn't dare to cause trouble at such a critical moment.
More importantly, standing before Elder Huan Yin was none other than the Valley Master of Sound Valley herself. If anyone caught the Valley Master's attention in a bad way, they wouldn't be able to remain in the valley.
Thanks to Elder Huan Yin's intervention, the effect was immediate. The square became so quiet that not even the faintest sound could be heard.
For three entire days and nights, the square remained in absolute silence. During this time, it felt as though the place had fallen into a deathly stillness, with no sound at all.
Yet, no one left. Everyone's gaze remained fixed on the stone platform. Each person was eager to know if the young, exceptionally handsome man could succeed in completing this final step.
"Master, will Mo Yu really be able to do it?" Dan Qin'Er, standing at the head of the platform, looked at the motionless artifact furnace with some worry in her tone.
Although Mo Yu was an eighth-grade weapon refiner, he looked far too young. Furthermore, the Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither was of critical importance to Sound Valley, so Dan Qin'Er couldn't help but feel uneasy.
Hearing this, Su Yao slowly opened her eyes, looking at the unmoving Mo Yu. With a faint sigh, she said, "At this point, we have no choice but to trust him. Right now, he is the only one—the youngest eighth-grade weapon refiner in the continent's history—who can lend a helping hand."
Dan Qin'Er nodded at her master's words, her beautiful eyes tightly fixed on Mo Yu as she thought to herself.
Mo Yu, you must succeed...
As though he heard Dan Qin'Er's unspoken plea, the vast energy of heaven and earth within the grand Sound Valley's valley suddenly began to ripple intensely!
On the stone platform, Su Yao, who had been resting with her eyes closed, suddenly snapped them open. Her beautiful eyes were filled with joy as she looked toward the center of the platform. From within the artifact furnace, a familiar aura began to emanate.
"Boom!"
The moment Su Yao opened her eyes, a massive dark cloud suddenly appeared in the sky without warning. The clouds churned with rolling thunder, silver lightning slithering across them like serpents. The scene was awe-inspiring.
"Weapon Lightning? Did... did he really succeed?"
Staring at the dark clouds in the sky, the bodies of all the Sound Valley disciples present stiffened. Excited murmurs escaped their lips uncontrollably.
At the forefront of the square, Dan Qin'Er, dressed in colorful robes, raised her delicate face to look at the dark clouds above. Her slender body trembled uncontrollably with excitement.
"Success?"
The thick clouds gathered above the valley, completely blocking out the faint rays of morning light. For a moment, the entire valley was shrouded in gloom. Only the occasional flashes of silver lightning splitting the clouds illuminated the area below.
As the clouds condensed in the sky, the spiritual energy on the stone platform reached its peak. Even the surrounding energy of heaven and earth was pulled by the weapon's spirit, causing faint vibrations.
Inside the artifact furnace, crimson thunder flames roared fiercely. Suspended above the flames, the Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither spun continuously. Waves of astonishing energy radiated outward, colliding with the walls of the furnace and producing a sharp metallic ringing sound.
Looking at the spinning Heavenly Demon Pagoda Zither inside the furnace, Mo Yu's pale face revealed a faint smile.
His eyelids drooped slightly as a deep fatigue spread from his soul. The process of restoring this weapon had taken an enormous toll on him.
After all, this was a five-colored eighth-grade weapon, a level that far surpassed his current capabilities.
Unlike the weapons nurtured by Tie Jian Zun Zhe with his own energy, this was a genuine eighth-grade weapon. Even restoring it required immense effort, not to mention that it had triggered Weapon Lightning.
As the lightning in the clouds illuminated Mo Yu's pale face, his frailty became even more apparent. Everyone could see that he had completely exhausted himself.
"Mo Yu, your great kindness cannot be repaid with mere words. Leave the Weapon Lightning to me and take a rest," Su Yao said with a gentle smile, her excitement giving way to concern upon seeing Mo Yu's weakened state.
Just as Su Yao prepared to rise into the air to confront the Weapon Lightning, she suddenly heard Mo Yu's hoarse voice. "Valley Master Su, leave the Weapon Lightning to me."
Hearing this, Su Yao's delicate face showed a trace of doubt, and she quickly said, "Mo Yu, don't worry. This Weapon Lightning won't be an issue for me. In your current state, how could you possibly handle it?"
"I know you can handle the Weapon Lightning, but my Thunder Soul needs this lightning as nourishment," Mo Yu replied with a bitter smile. After muttering to himself, he leaped into the air, standing shoulder to shoulder with Su Yao.
He glanced at her and chuckled lightly. "Valley Master Su, this Weapon Lightning is of use to me, so please don't fight me for it."
"Since Mo Yu insists, I'll leave it to you. But if anything happens, just say the word," Su Yao said.
Although she didn't understand why Mo Yu was so confident, the Weapon Lightning was his to begin with. She naturally couldn't refuse his request.
Moreover, given that Mo Yu had reached the rank of eighth-grade weapon refiner at such a young age, he might indeed have some extraordinary trump cards.
Seeing Su Yao step aside, Mo Yu let out a sigh of relief. He then turned his gaze toward the Weapon Lightning in the sky, his eyes burning with fervor...
