Western Region, Di Kun Mountain Range.
As the overlord of a region spanning tens of thousands of miles, the Golden Warhorse Clan's actions always drew significant attention.
Thus, when news of the clan's next patriarchal election spread, it caused a stir among nearby powers.
Many vassal forces under the Golden Warhorse Clan sent their leaders to Di Kun Mountain Range upon hearing this news.
These leaders personally attended the patriarchal election not only to witness this momentous event but also to express their congratulations and loyalty to the newly elected patriarch at the earliest opportunity.
As a result, the previously quiet Di Kun Mountain Range bustled with activity as numerous Dou Zong experts and Seventh-grade magical beasts in human form arrived in succession.
At the same time, as the patriarchal election drew near, Mo Yu joined Ma Teng and other senior officials of Golden City on their journey to Di Kun Mountain Range.
Di Kun Mountain Range, as the direct territory of the Golden Warhorse Clan, was akin to the clan's headquarters. Though less prosperous than Golden City, it was the spiritual home for all members of the clan.
Over the past few days, Mo Yu had stayed at the city lord's mansion. While he spent most of his time cultivating, he had gained a general understanding of the clan's internal situation.
Currently, due to the patriarchal competition, the Golden Warhorse Clan was divided into two factions.
One faction was led by Ma Zhen of the First House, representing the Di Kun Mountain forces. The other faction was led by Ma Teng of the Second House, representing Golden City.
Golden City housed numerous seventh-grade Golden Warhorses in human form—key members of the clan's top combat strength. Most of these powerful figures were aligned with Ma Teng, giving him a distinct advantage in high-level combat power.
However, the First House was not to be underestimated. As the clan's ancestral home, Di Kun Mountain Range harbored many secluded experts. These experts formed the core of the First House's power.
Additionally, the mountain range was home to a large population of Golden Warhorse Clan members. Though most had average talent, the First House had unearthed and nurtured many talented individuals from this vast base over the years, steadily bolstering its strength.
Thus, within the Golden Warhorse Clan, the balance of power between the two factions was quite close. Who would ascend as patriarch remained uncertain, even among the clan's members.
The Di Kun Mountain Range was not far from Golden City. After about two hours, Mo Yu and Ma Teng's group arrived at their destination.
"The headquarters of our Golden Warhorse Clan lies within this mountain range," Ma Teng said with a smile. "There's something peculiar about this place. Without a specific method of entry, even a Dou Zun expert couldn't enter."
Hearing this, Mo Yu narrowed his silver eyes and noticed faint spatial distortions within the mountain range.
It seemed the Golden Warhorse Clan, as an ancient lineage, indeed possessed extraordinary means.
"Let's go. My elder brother is likely waiting for me," Ma Teng said, gazing at the endless mountains with a meaningful expression.
Hearing this, the expressions of Ma Yunlu and other senior members of Golden City grew solemn.
As staunch supporters of the Second House, they understood that if Ma Teng failed to become patriarch, their prospects for future advancement would diminish significantly.
"Don't worry," Ma Teng said confidently, glancing at Mo Yu. "With Little Friend Mo Yu's assistance, the position of patriarch is destined to be mine!"
At this, the group's spirits lifted. Recalling how Mo Yu had effortlessly defeated Ma Tie a few days ago, their confidence soared.
Seeing their reactions, Ma Teng smiled faintly and patted Mo Yu on the shoulder. He then gestured for the group to follow him deeper into the mountains.
After about ten minutes of flight through the dense forest, Ma Teng gradually came to a stop.
Mo Yu scanned his surroundings, noticing nothing but lush greenery. There were no buildings or peaks in sight—just an ordinary forest.
However, Mo Yu soon sensed something unusual about this place.
"This is our Golden Warhorse Clan's Heavenly Horse Formation," Ma Teng explained. "It was constructed by our ancestors and can only be entered by those with the clan's bloodline."
As he spoke, Ma Teng's aura surged, and his golden eyes shone brilliantly. A peculiar golden radiance emanated from his gaze, causing the surrounding space to distort.
Under Mo Yu's curious gaze, the distortions formed a spatial gate.
"Let's go. This is the true core of our Golden Warhorse Clan," Ma Teng said, stepping into the gate. The others followed suit.
Without hesitation, Mo Yu entered the gate as well. Once everyone had passed through, the spatial gate vanished.
Upon entering, Mo Yu felt a brief disorientation before the scenery changed dramatically.
The endless forest transformed into towering peaks. Atop these peaks stood grand buildings, and faint sounds of sparring could be heard in the distance.
"This place is a space constructed with the ancestral bloodline's power," Ma Teng explained. "Of course, it's nowhere near the scale of the spaces created by Dou Sheng experts. Its size is comparable to a city.
"Ordinary clan members live on the outskirts of Di Kun Mountain Range. Only those who enter here have truly reached the core of the Golden Warhorse Clan."
Mo Yu nodded slightly, his silver eyes flashing as he sensed a powerful aura within the area—one that rivaled the Elder Mu Gu he had encountered in the Black-Corner Region.
"The old patriach, an eighth-grade magical beast, must reside here," Mo Yu thought. An eighth-grade magical beast was equivalent to a Dou Zun expert. Without his Black Thunder Talisman, escaping from such an opponent would be nearly impossible.
As Mo Yu grew vigilant, a calm, emotionless voice echoed from afar.
"Second Brother, you've arrived."
Soon after, ten figures flew over from a distant peak, standing opposite Mo Yu's group.
The leader was a middle-aged man in a black robe, whose features bore a slight resemblance to Ma Teng.
Mo Yu's expression grew serious. This man was another peak Dou Zong, just shy of stepping into Dou Zun.
"Big Brother," Ma Teng greeted with a tinge of solemnity. His golden eyes narrowed slightly as he smiled faintly. "I didn't expect you to personally welcome me. I'm flattered."
"We're brothers. No need for formalities," Ma Zhen replied with a faint smile. "Besides, Father has been waiting for you."
As Ma Zhen's golden gaze swept over the group, it lingered on Mo Yu. His eyes gleamed with intrigue as he said, "Second Brother, is this the son-in-law you recently found?
"I've heard much about his exploits in the Western Region. Yunlu is fortunate to have such a renowned husband.
"However, I also heard he's provoked Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion. While our clan doesn't fear the so-called Four Pavilions, bringing such trouble into the clan might not sit well with Father."
Hearing this, Ma Teng's expression darkened. He glared at his elder brother, clearly displeased by the veiled accusation.
As tensions gradually escalated between Ma Teng and Ma Zhen, the factions behind them began to bristle, ready for confrontation.
After a moment of silence, Ma Teng waved his hand dismissively and spoke to Ma Zhen with a sly smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"I will explain this matter to Father. While Mo Yu might have provoked Ten Thousand Sword Pavilion, his talent is boundless. If we can bring him into our Golden Warhorse Clan, it will undoubtedly be a worthwhile investment."
"Hmph, just a mere human. What's there to praise?"
Before Ma Teng's words fully settled, a proud, aloof youth clad in golden armor, exuding the aura of a battlefield general, crossed his arms and sneered disdainfully at Mo Yu.
"Chao'er, mind your manners!" Ma Zhen reprimanded after the armored youth's comment. However, his tone lacked any real sternness, instead laced with indulgence.
Noticing this, Mo Yu narrowed his silver eyes slightly before directing his gaze at the haughty and imposing youth.
"That's Ma Chao, my eldest uncle's son," Ma Yunlu whispered to Mo Yu through sound transmission.
Mo Yu nodded in understanding.
Though their encounter lasted less than ten minutes, he had already discerned the irreconcilable animosity between the first and second branches of the family.
It became clear that Ma Chao's hostility toward him stemmed from Mo Yu's affiliation with the second branch, representing its interests.
As for Ma Chao's disdainful sneer, Mo Yu remained unperturbed, his expression indifferent. He saw no value in meaningless anger that would only deplete his energy. Instead, he resolved to defeat Ma Chao openly during the competition.
Mo Yu's objective had always been straightforward: help Ma Teng secure the clan leader position and claim his reward. The petty squabbles between the family branches were of no concern to him.
Ma Zhen was momentarily stunned by Mo Yu's composed demeanor.
One of Ma Zhen's purposes in coming here was to size up his younger brother's newly found son-in-law.
He had already deduced that Mo Yu would likely stand in for Ma Yunlu during the upcoming clan competition, facing off against Ma Chao. Given Ma Yunlu's limited abilities, she wouldn't stand a chance against Ma Chao. The second branch would inevitably need someone else to represent them.
Thus, Ma Zhen kept a close eye on Mo Yu, hoping to provoke and test him. However, to his surprise, Mo Yu's calm reaction felt like punching a cloud, leaving him flustered.
"Eldest brother, we mustn't keep Father waiting. Let's go," Ma Teng interjected, cutting short the exchange.
Ma Teng had ensured that news of Mo Yu's swift defeat of Ma Tie hadn't leaked, confident that Mo Yu's abilities would surprise his elder brother when the time came.
A subtle smile played on Ma Teng's lips as he waved his hand, leading his group toward the grand hall at the center of the estate.
Watching Ma Teng's enigmatic smile, Ma Zhen's heart sank slightly. With a cold snort, he waved his hand and followed with his entourage.
Five minutes later, following closely behind Ma Teng, Mo Yu passed through the heavily guarded entrance of the grand hall. Pushing open the heavy doors with a creak, an imposing and majestic interior came into view.
Ma Teng quickly entered and bowed respectfully toward the elder seated at the head of the hall.
"Father, your son Ma Teng has returned."
Around ten figures sat in the hall, most clad in golden robes. Judging by their age and dignified appearances, these were clearly the high-ranking members of the Golden Warhorse Clan. Their presence exuded auras as formidable as, if not stronger than, those of old monsters from the Black-Corner Region.
At the head sat a frail, white-haired elder in plain linen robes, his face adorned with a perpetual smile. Yet everyone in the room knew full well the weight this elder carried in the Western Region.
As soon as Ma Yunlu saw him, she beamed with delight, skipping forward to cling to the elder's arm affectionately.
"Grandpa, why are you so late?" The white-haired elder chuckled at Ma Yunlu and then teased, "I hear you've found a husband. Why not introduce him to me?"
Hearing this, Ma Yunlu's cheeks flushed crimson. Ma Teng glanced outside and called, "Mo Yu, come in."
As his words fell, a lean figure entered the hall, his strikingly handsome features immediately capturing the attention of everyone present. A brief silence ensued in the hall.
"Mo Yu greets the patriach."
Unfazed by the curious gazes directed his way, Mo Yu looked directly at the white-haired elder at the head of the hall.
Upon entering, Mo Yu faintly felt a subtle pressure emanating from the elder. The source of this pressure was undoubtedly this seemingly unassuming elder.
The elder's gaze lingered on Mo Yu, a hint of surprise flashing across his face. After studying him closely, he murmured, "Hmm, why do I sense a trace of my old friend She Wuwan's aura on you?"
