Chapter 378 - Danger

Upon hearing this, Jiang Cheng stopped in his tracks and turned his gaze to a spot beside him. They had already entered a side street off the pedestrian street.

This area was quite remote. Not far ahead was an old-looking residential complex, with a dark green bicycle shed in front of its entrance.

The nearby shops were all very old.

"Phoenix KTV." Fatty looked up at a dilapidated sign that was only half-lit and suddenly felt an unsettling vibe.

Jiang Cheng stared at a few black cars with obscured license plates in the distance, then turned back and said, "We're here. This is the place."

"Do you see that milk tea shop?" Jiang Cheng said to the two of them. "Wait for me there."

"Doctor," Fatty asked, looking at the shabby KTV sign. "What are you going to do?"

About two hours later, Fatty, who had been idly sipping on his milk tea, was suddenly tapped on the shoulder. Chu Jiu pointed in the direction of the KTV and said, "Look, he's coming out."

The three of them met up in a secluded corner. As they watched Jiang Cheng skillfully counting the bills in his hand, Fatty couldn't help but think that this guy might have been a printing press in his past life.

Jiang Cheng, reeking of alcohol, stuffed the money into his pocket and flashed a satisfied smile.

Fatty looked at him with suspicion, then after a moment, exclaimed, "Doctor! You're not planning to buy information from Room 717, are you?"

Buying information from a ghost? Is that something a human could even do? While everyone else was trying to escape the ghosts' pursuit, the doctor's thought process was showing everyone how to strategize against them.

"Can you trust what a ghost says?" Fatty asked, his hair standing on end.

With his hands in his pockets, Jiang Cheng squinted, his face slightly flushed, and said, "I'm not afraid of her lying. I'm afraid of her not speaking at all."

"Hey," Wei Jinting asked, "Is this computer even worth fixing?"

He had brought the broken computer out just to throw it away, since he already knew there was something strange about it.

But Liu Guo clearly thought otherwise. His reasoning was solid—he believed there might be other clues inside that Wei Jinting hadn't discovered yet.

"Once it's fixed, you can take it to your own room and look at it," Wei Jinting said, annoyed.

Liu Guo didn't take offense and simply smiled. "Alright."

Wu followed the two of them silently, not participating in their conversation, seemingly uninterested in the computer.

After leaving the apartment, they turned right and walked along the main street until they finally found a computer repair shop at the corner.

Liu Guo took the computer from Wei Jinting and brought it inside for repairs.

Wu and Wei Jinting waited outside.

"Brother Wu," Wei Jinting shamelessly leaned closer, "I noticed you don't talk much. That's not a good habit. During missions, we need to communicate more to survive together."

He suddenly stopped speaking because Wu tilted his head slightly, his cold eyes fixed on Wei Jinting's shoulder, where his hand was resting.

"Ha ha," Wei Jinting licked his lips, retracting his hand and rubbing it awkwardly. "By the way, do you know how to fix computers?" he asked, seemingly offhand.

Wu glanced at him. "No."

"Really? Come on," Wei Jinting stuck close to him like a piece of plaster, squinting as he said, "I have a feeling you definitely know how."

"If you knew how to fix it, we wouldn't have had to come here," Wei Jinting continued to ramble. "And you knew they wouldn't be able to fix it. It's just a waste of money."

Hearing this, Wu stopped walking. His hat, which had been pulled low, tilted up slightly. After a long pause—

"Are you sure?" His voice was eerily calm, with only the slightest fluctuation at the end.

Wei Jinting suddenly felt the air around him grow colder, and the sunlight on his body dimmed.

It was because a cloud had drifted overhead, blocking the sun.

But Wei Jinting remained as stubborn as ever. He stared intently at the half of Wu's face that was visible, then grinned, revealing a row of pale teeth. "Now... I'm sure."

"It's no use," Liu Guo's voice came through. He was carrying a bag, stuffing the broken computer into it as he ran out. "They said it's completely broken. Even if it could be fixed, there's not enough time."

Wei Jinting pursed his lips, then turned his head and put on his usual cheeky expression, exaggeratingly saying, "Oh no, that's terrible. I was just telling Brother Wu what we'd do if it couldn't be fixed."

"Looks like we'll have to try another approach," Liu Guo sighed helplessly.

"Let's go to the café," Wu suggested.

Wei Jinting and Liu Guo both looked at him. Since they had formed this group, this was the first time they had heard him make a suggestion.

It was always the others who decided, and he just followed along.

"Didn't you say the café appeared in the video?" Wu said slowly. "Let's go check it out. Maybe we'll find something new."

Wei Jinting hesitated, then whispered, "Isn't that place dangerous?"

He looked scared, occasionally touching his arm as if he had goosebumps. "Lu Huaxu died there, after all."

Wu suddenly smiled. His voice wasn't cold at all—it sounded strangely gentle. "Don't be afraid," he said softly. "Those who are destined to die will find danger wherever they go."

But strangely, it seemed that only Wei Jinting heard the last part of his sentence.

Liu Guo hailed a taxi and naturally took the front passenger seat. Once the car started, it quickly headed toward the café.

Around noon, Jiang Cheng and the other two returned to the apartment. As soon as they entered, they ran into Banana Wolf and his group.

Hua Luo was sitting obediently in the corner and was the first to notice their arrival.

"Why are you back?" Chu Jiu asked.

Wan Yuanning, leaning against a pillar, looked at the three of them calmly and said, "We were waiting for you."

Jiang Cheng's gaze swept over the three of them, then quickly settled on Banana Wolf's face. He hadn't spoken yet, and his mood seemed a bit off.

It wasn't fear—it was just strange.

"What happened?" Jiang Cheng asked directly.

"Nothing," Banana Wolf avoided the topic and looked at Jiang Cheng. "We waited here because we wanted to tell you something." He said seriously, "We just went to Yu Youwei's modeling agency and found some new information."

Just as Jiang Cheng and the others were waiting for him to continue, Hua Luo suddenly interrupted, "There are too many people here. Let's go somewhere else to talk."

Jiang Cheng's eyes narrowed slightly, then he nodded. "Alright."

Under Hua Luo's lead, they went to a teahouse and found a quiet private room on the second floor. As soon as the door closed, Banana Wolf's voice rang out: "We found some of Yu Youwei's former colleagues at her company. They confirmed that Yu Youwei had indeed been with Li Maoshen."

"Been with him?" Chu Jiu asked. "What do you mean?"

"Phew—" Banana Wolf exhaled, took a sip of the tea Hua Luo handed him, and said, "It means they both treated the relationship as just a fling. Yu Youwei changed men as often as she changed clothes, and Li Maoshen was even worse."

Banana Wolf pursed his lips and added, "While he was with Yu Youwei, he also had another girlfriend."
