Cherreads

Chapter 9 - [9]

I feel the ship vibrate as it punctures the atmosphere of Corellia, and feel the ship come to a stop as it lands. I stand up from the bunk that I'd been using for the past couple of weeks and grab my things.

Qui-Gom waves goodbye to me as I throw the sack of Kernels down the ladder shout and the slide the ladder to the little area where the ramp is and pressing the green button that lowers the ramp, I quickly make my exit from the ship with my minor possessions doing my best to mix in with the crowds of people going about their days.

I try to breath in through my nose and nearly choke on the smog and the smell of hot metal, walking around Corellia…I come to the assumption that there is nothing nice about Corellia as it's dark, probably in part due to all the smog, the only thing colorful about the planet that I can see so far is the people and even then they all seem pale and worn down.

Everywhere I look I can see various ships in various stages of completion and disassembly, making the place look like an earth shipyard on steroids. I spot a couple of warning signs for breathing masks and notice most people wearing them.

Bumping into someone by accident, I almost gasp when I turn and see someone that looks like an animated Zendaya, who is walking with a young douchebag looking guy.

"Sorry." The young woman and I apologize to one another at the same time.

"Hey, do you know of a place that I can go to, to learn how to fly a ship and to buy one on the cheap?" I ask the Zendaya look-alike.

"Actually yeah I do." The Zendaya look alike says to me and after getting some directions from her about where I could go to learn how to pilot a spaceship and buy an older model ship for cheap we took off in different directions.

After walking for a bit watching the holographic signs I pass by intently to make sure I don't get lost making my traveling a bit slow, finally I arrive at a well kept airfield like place that has high fences, that has a solid sign hung on it named Jace"s piloting licensing and used shipyard.

'Not a very catchy name for a business but oh well.'I say softly in my head as I enter through a door marked as public by a metal sign.

"Huh a customer." An old graying man says in surprise the old man definitely looks like a retired military man that has kept himself in good shape.

'Though I can't say that he inspires much confidence in me.' I say in my head as the man starts to get a shifty look in his eyes and starts reaching for a blaster pistol on his desk in front of him.

"If you're here looking for trouble you best turn around now and go back the way you came." The oldman says to me in a hardened voice.

Setting down my meager possessions and putting my hands up in the air in a disarming gesture.

"Easy there old timer. I'm here to learn how to fly a fighter to a light freighter and to buy a custom ship from you. A young couple told me that you were the man to see for all of that." I say in a calm, gentle soft voice as it's not my first time having a gun pointed at me.

'I really wish I didn't leave behind those blasters…' I mutter in my mind as the old man continues to stare me down.

"Grandpa, put down the blaster!" Shouts a familiar female voice though I notice it is a bit rough with emotions now.

"Zenya, did you send this Off-Worlder here?" the old man asks as he slowly lowers his blaster and sets it back down on his desk, and slowly takes his hand off of his blaster.

I hear the young woman sniffle as though she's been crying as she comes from a partially concealed door from behind the oldman.

"Yes Grandpa, I did…we really need the business." The young dark skinned woman named Zenya who I can now see has bloodshot eyes.

"Zee, what's wrong girl? Did that boy do something to you?" The Oldman asks and sounds like a doting father.

"It's nothing Grandpa, I promise…we just broke up, that's all." Zenya replies but for some reason I don't believe her and the oldman doesn't seem to buy what she's selling either.

"I'm gonna gut that worthless street rat." The Oldman mutters none too quietly, almost making me chuckle.

"Grandfather, we have a customer…a very patient, and nice…" Zenya says softly pausing shortly to look me over, "A creditless customer…Haa" Zenya says in an exasperated tone of voice before sighing softly.

"Hey you, if you go teach that little shit that you saw with my granddaughter earlier…and teach him a lesson I'll teach you how to fly for free and customize an old G9 for you and only charge you at a half rate for my work and the price for the parts." The Oldman says to me while Zenya palm smacks her forehead.

"Deal." I say easily as I lower my arms and activate my Ultimatrix coming to Echo Echo.

'I'm not sure but that sounds like a damn good deal to me.' I mutter in my mind.

"A hard lesson, one that he'll never truly recover from…or just a few broken bones? Also it'll help if you can give me some information on him like his haunts and address." I continue speaking to the Oldman, making him smile sinisterly…which in turn makes me give him a toothy smile that isn't really a smile.

"Haa, Grandpa you're getting carried away. and you, if you want to learn here, going and killing someone is going to make that difficult, plus I already broke his nose so sorry, but I already taught him a lesson so you'll be paying full price for our services…but with that said we'll work out a payment schedule that you'll start once you're working…you can even do work around here to help pay for your education…" Zenaya says to her grandfather while shooting him a disappointed look making the old man's shoulders slump in disappointment, before turning to face me pushing her hip out slightly while looking at me her hand resting against her slightly jutting out hip, as she gives me a look that says just try and argue with me and you'll learn.

"Okay then, good for you…and when can we start?" I reply to her while nodding, which makes her smile at me that has my heart palpitating out of rhythm.

'Damn she's beautiful.' I mutter in my head.

"You have a beautiful smile." I find myself saying to her the words just slipping out of my mouth unhindered, making me cringe especially with how dazed those words sounded as they came out of my mouth.
