Chapter 250 - Ch.250 Father and King

Compared to Tony Stark, who was still fumbling with magic, Ronan's focus was way more locked on Hela.

How to put it—Ronan's feelings about Hela were kinda complicated.

Going by the movie backstory, as the big-shot general who helped Odin conquer the realms, Hela was damn near flawless.

Leading troops, fighting battles—zero room for nitpicking.

Her only misstep? Clashing with Odin.

After taking the Nine Realms, Odin wanted to chill out, play the benevolent king, and treat the realms' folks with kindness.

But Hela? She thought mercy was useless. To dominate other lands, you needed violence—make 'em fear you.

Their dynamic was straight out of some ancient king-and-prince playbook.

The prince fights like a champ, wins the world for the king, but in the end, differences—or whatever else—crack open a rift between father and son.

At that point, it's usually one of two ways.

Option one: like Hela, the hardcore king shuts it down, picks a new heir.

Option two: the prince takes down the king and claims the throne.

Huh, sound like a certain emperor from Chinese history much?

Point is, if Ronan was just a bystander, he might say neither of them was wrong.

But as an Earthling in this universe? He'd lean toward Odin.

Because if Hela ended up as Asgard's top dog, the Nine Realms would probably turn into some grim, lightless hellscape.

Of course, that's all just Ronan's headcanon.

Right now, he's Team Odin, no question.

Reason's simple: he's pals with Thor, and Odin's been solid to him.

Stuff from Asgard's vault? Odin handed it over like it was nothing. When Ronan took up the Sorcerer Supreme gig, Asgard sent congrats gifts.

Sideways nod to Ronan's legit status.

Sure, the Sorcerer Supreme spot doesn't need Asgard's stamp of approval.

But the gesture's nice.

So, as a classic "loyalty over logic" guy, Ronan's picking friends over fairness.

Plus, Hela's not exactly in the right here.

Back at Kamar-Taj, Ronan's eyes were half-shut, the sounds of training mages filling his ears.

But he could feel it clear as day—Odin's godly power was fading out.

Which meant one thing.

Odin's time was almost up.

At that thought, Ronan snapped his eyes open, staring at the sky.

His lips moved, muttering something—a line to Asgard.

More specifically, to Heimdall.

Heimdall's eyes can scope out any spot in the Nine Realms. When Ronan recited those words, Heimdall would know he was being pinged.

When he locked his gaze on Ronan, he'd get the message.

"I found Odin."

Just that short, sweet line. Three seconds later, the Bifrost lit up Kamar-Taj's plaza.

The glow pulled every eye in the place.

Out of the light stepped Thor, rocking casual gear, fresh from the Bifrost.

"Ronan, you found Odin?"

First words out of Thor's mouth.

You could tell he was freaking out.

As Thor popped up, Tony Stark and Bruce Banner—mid-training nearby—ambled over.

They're buddies, after all. Plus, they were kinda Ronan's backup crew for this hunt.

"Yeah, I've got Odin's location."

"He's on Earth."

With that, Ronan tapped the air with his right hand, and a mystic portal flared open.

Step through, and he'd see Odin.

"Need us to tag along?"

Bruce Banner piped up first.

He used to hate the Hulk, but after some time here, they'd started bonding.

He was getting that the Hulk's just a big kid at heart.

Not impossible to reason with.

"I'll holler if I need you. Thanks, guys."

"I'm heading over."

Thor tossed a quick thanks to Bruce and Tony, then nodded at Ronan.

Ronan got the signal, nodding back.

And with that, Thor stepped into the portal.

"He just mentioned Odin?"

"What's up with Odin?"

Tony sidled up to Ronan, curiosity piqued.

He knew Odin was Thor's dad, obviously.

But what had him stumped was why Asgard's Allfather was on Earth.

And Earth's so-called "defense systems"? Not a peep.

"It's their family drama—I can't really explain it."

"But we might be getting busy soon."

Ronan shook his head. Thor's family stuff wasn't his to spill.

If Thor wanted to talk, he'd say it himself later.

Tony nodded. He had that "something's about to go down" gut feeling too.

But that wasn't his circus right now—his whole focus was on cracking magic.

So after a couple quick questions, he shuffled back to the group, diving into training again.

Ronan closed his eyes, giving the father-son duo their last moments.

Once Odin's gone, Hela's stepping up…

Coastline.

Same spot where Ronan met Odin not long ago.

Now, it's still Odin—but Ronan's swapped out for Thor.

The second Thor crossed the portal, he spotted an old guy in Earth clothes.

Sitting alone by the shore, watching the tide roll in and out.

One look, and Thor knew—this was his father, Odin, King of Asgard's gods.

But compared to the sharp, commanding Allfather of old—

This Odin? Just a regular old man, plain as can be.

It even sparked a flicker of pity in Thor.

"Father."

Thor called out without thinking.

"Is that Thor?"

Odin turned slowly, a smile spreading as he looked at Thor behind him.

Seeing that face, for some reason, Thor felt a sudden urge to cry.

And deep down, a bad vibe started creeping in.

Odin's smile softened even more as he watched his stunned eldest son.

"Don't just stand there."

"Come, sit here."

He patted the ground beside him.

Thor opened his mouth, but in the end, he walked over and sat next to Odin.

A million questions, but none came out.

"It's been a while since we've sat down like this to talk, hasn't it, father and son?"

"Thor, you've grown up."
