After dealing with the people in the yard, Golden Eyes searched the two rooms at the back but didn't find anyone else.
However, he did find the food stored by the group of children in one of the rooms, only two pieces of brown bread, a piece of smoked meat of some unknown animal, and half a pot of boiled beans.
Just as Golden Eyes was feeling hungry himself, he brought the food out to the yard. He took a bite of the brown bread, found it a bit gritty, and tossed it aside nonchalantly.
Then he brought his nose close to the pot of beans, sniffing. Finding no odd smell, he began to ladle them up with a spoon, eating heartily with the piece of smoked meat.
Hearing him eating, the five on the ground couldn't help but swallow their saliva, and they also felt pained for the bread he had thrown away.
Wendy hadn't lied when she said it was not easy to get food in the city these days; otherwise, they wouldn't have gone out to rob.
