Jimmy asked how to conduct the investigation, and Tom simply guided him through it. In fact, he didn't say much, just told Jimmy what not to do.
Of course, hoping for Tom to step in and help again was out of the question. Not to mention, this time when he saw Tom, his vigor and spirit were not as they were before; he seemed to have aged quite a bit.
A person's spirit is linked to whether they have a goal or not. In the past few years, Tom had been pursuing those who attacked his team, with his mind preoccupied, he appeared energetic whether he was working or meeting with Jimmy. Ever since he completed his revenge, he'd seemed much less spirited, and after all, he was about 60 years old, one couldn't ask too much of him.
He was about the same age as James, who seemed a bit more energetic. Maybe, it was time to find something for him to do.
Jimmy: "Tom, what are you doing in Florida now?"
Tom: "Nothing much, getting ready for retirement."
