Kai launches himself at Jin again with his hands transformed into claws, and in response Jin begins to make swift motions with his arms to try to stop him with strong air currents that manage to break the flagstones where they pass and impact.
In spite of this, Kai manages to dodge all the air blasts with his incredible speed and agility, running and jumping around the ring until he manages to close the distance with Jin, who jumps to dodge him by hovering in the air once again.
To his surprise, Kai this time jumps up and tries to chase him, so he decides to use his "Vacuum Vortex" attack again to try to land a direct hit on him. However, before it can connect, Kai kicks to the side to hit a platform made with his Barrier Orb and get out of the way of the attack, and then applies a platform again to launch himself back at Jin with his claw ready to stab him.
Despite the unexpected movement, Jin manages to fly to the side to dodge Kai's claw stabbing attack, and what he sees next stuns him and the rest of the stadium.
'Kai can fly?!' It's the shared thought of Jin and everyone watching Kai standing in midair.
Using Gyo, Jin realizes that Kai is actually standing on one of his Nen platforms hidden with In, giving the impression that he can float in the air like him to the rest of the spectators.
Back in the fight, making use of unexpected and creative maneuvers, Kai uses his Barrier Orb to create floating platforms to leap into the air and face Jin head-on in mid-air, with his opponent's previous aerial advantage vanishing thanks to the footing granted by his Barrier Orb. This sudden aerial maneuver catch Jin off guard, and Kai takes full advantage of the surprise to engage Jin in close combat once more.
However, despite losing the strategic advantage his aerokinetic flight granted him, Jin isn't far behind in the fight, using his aerial prowess to nimbly hover above the arena and gather the wind around to attack and confuse Kai with the swift motions of his hands that control it.
'Jin's stronger than I thought he would be at first. Even so, I'll still win this fight!' Kai thinks to himself while relishing the exchange of attacks with Jin.
Jin's aerial advantage and wind-based attacks makes him a formidable opponent, but Kai has his own tricks up his sleeve, and using his barrier orb, he launches himself once more at Jin, who is waiting ready for the confrontation.
However, before entering his range, Kai quickly forms a platform to jump to the right away from Jin, and with swift motions generates more platforms at his feet to jump around him at dizzying speed, disconcerting Jin as he is unable to follow his movements or trajectory.
After a while destabilizing Jin's attention and emotional state with his speed, Kai swoops down at great speed to deliver a powerful down kick to Jin, who despite activating his Ren and forming a Gale Barrier around himself to protect from the attack, is sent crashing down into the ring, passing through several flagstones in his path until he finally stops pretty injured.
"Critical hit and down!" The referee announces from outside the arena.
'What a monstrous power! If I hadn't defended myself with Gale Barrier and Ren, that attack could have killed me! Seriously, who is this guy?! I thought he only knew how to engage in close combat, but his Nen abilities allow him to engage any opponent in an omnidirectional area around him, even in mid-air!' Jin thinks as he slowly gets up with a bleeding mouth, several scratches and a couple of broken bones as Kai slowly descends to the floor on his platform.
"I see I was wrong in thinking I could overwhelm you in an air battle! Let's see then how you handle this!" Jin calls out while spinning his fists in a circular motion, generating small twisters around his wrists. "Tornado Fists!"
With his technique ready, Jin is the one who launches himself this time to try to land a punch on Kai. In response he forms a flat barrier with his orb just in time to try blocking the direct hit, but the sheer force of Jin's centrifugal attack manages to bypass the kinetic absorption capacity of the Barrier Orb, managing to land the punch with part of the power of the attack and causing Kai to skid across several meters of the arena floor by the impact.
"Critical hit!" The referee announces.
With this statement, Kai wipes the blood coming from his nose because of the punch while keeping his attention alert on Jin and the surroundings. "That was pretty impressive. A technique that uses the rotating force of the wind to punch through defenses and knock opponents back. This really encourages me to fight with my fists too." Kai states morphing his Barrier Orb in large aura fists in both of his hands and launching himself to confront Jin again.
Jin in response dives towards Kai to counter his blows with rapid, spinning strikes, and the excitement of the crowd grows as both fighters start exchanging powerful blows with each other and their bodies become a blur of motion.
As the battle between the two intensifies, Jin start struggling to keep up with Kai, who dodges and deflects his attacks with his Nen fists, and after a few seconds fighting like this, Kai manages to overcome the centrifugal force of his wind to land a punch to the face that makes him spin in the aire before landing on his feet.
Recovering quickly, Jin notes Kai lunging at him from above with his Barrier Orb concentrated on his left arm to form a much larger fist to hit him with, so he gathers the wind in his right hand to counterattack with his own attack.
"Vacuum Vortex!" Jin exclaims launching his tornado like move at close range.
The giant aura fist of Kai meet Jin's wind vortex head-on, creating a massive shockwave that reverberates through the arena and sends both fighters sliding and stumbling backwards before regaining their footing after rolling a bit on the floor.
But despite what she and the general public may believe, Jin is the only one who is most affected in the fight, having spent most of his aura with his powerful techniques and attacks, panting from exhaustion and with far more injuries than Kai in front of him.
"Do you want to give up already? I've shown you more than enough that I surpass you on both land and air, and it doesn't look like you can hold out much longer. It would be better for both of us if you gave up before you were seriously injured." Kai asks with a certain touch of condescension.
"It's not me... who will end up seriously hurt." Jin says panting as the wind starts to blow again and the debris scattered around the ring starts to move. "You know... the wind currents of a cyclone are indeed very strong and destructive... But they become much more dangerous when they carry objects that can impact... against the people and buildings where they take place."
As Jin continues speaking, Kai notices the wind currents getting stronger and debris, both large and small, begin to hover around them.
"The force of my whirlwinds... along with the weight and hardness of the ring debris... all hitting you at once. For that very purpose... I've been making sure to smash the flagstones beneath our feet during our fight... so I have enough ammo and attack power to crush you under it." Jin says with a sinister smile as the veins in his eyes pop out and his nose bleeds from the effort as a whirlwind of air and debris surrounds the ring.
"Take this! Cyclone Barrage!"
With that shout and the motion of his hands, all the debris flies out at full speed straight at Kai, generating a thick cloud of dust from the impacts that covers the entire arena. After the debris finishes hitting Kai, Jin is left panting from exhaustion with a triumphant smile, waiting for the cloud of dust to dissipate to see the result of his final attack.
However, with the dust cloud clearing, Kai is revealed to be mostly unharmed by Jin's ultimate attack, shielding his face with his arms crossed in an X and with his body exerting his great and powerful Ren. While the ordinary people in the audience are only impressed that Kai has emerged unscathed from that attack, the Nen users watching him, including Jin and Wing, are dumbfounded by the astonishing display of aura in front of them.
'What intensity. Even though I'm an Enhancer and have gotten stronger thanks to Kai, his aura output is pretty close to my own maximum capacity. And it's not just his strength; his quietness and fluidity are similar to that of a high-level professional with years of experience. It's as if his mind and spirit are in perfect balance and synchronicity. And all this with just 6 months of training. It's terrifying.' Wing thinks to himself while he clenches his fists and his aura becomes destabilized.
In the arena, Jin has thoughts quite similar to Wing's as he watches Kai's Ren. 'W-What's the meaning of this?! That amount of aura isn't normal! With that power, he could have finished me off at the very beginning of the fight, and yet he chose to prolong it by hiding his true power! He's a monster!' Jin thinks in terror as he watches Kai shut down his Ren.
"That last attack was pretty good. I honestly didn't expect to have to unleash my full power before my fight with Hisoka, but you managed to force me to do it. This is definitely the best fight I've had so far in the tower, but it's time to end it." Kai says cracking his neck with a confident look.
Driven by the fear he feels at knowing the true level of his opponent, Jin rises again in the air trying to stay away from Kai, with Kai jumping towards him and Jin unleashing a powerful whirlwind to attack him.
However, using his floating platforms to propel himself by jumping through the air, Kai manages to dodge it to quickly get behind Jin, and before Jin can prepare for another aerial assault, Kai gets him holded with his Barrier Orb and descends to slam him into the ground, cracking the flagstones on impact and leaving Jin unconscious.
Seeing that Jin is not getting up, the referee returns to the ring to check on him before giving his verdict. "Jin is unconscious! By virtue of a knockout, Kai wins!" The referee announces, prompting the audience to explode in massive cheers.
"THIS HAS BEEN AWESOME!!! This match for the title of Floor Master has filled us with excitement and uncertainty as both fighters demonstrated their incredible fighting skills, but in the end, Kai emerged victorious in glorious fashion! This marks the birth of the new Floor Master of the 230th floor! Congratulations, Kai Ikeda!" Cocco shouts congratulating Kai on his achievement along with the rest of the Heavens Arena spectators.
Point of View Switch: Kai
After winning my match against Jin, the tower staff led me to a private room to congratulate me on my well-deserved success, inform me of my new benefits and responsibilities, and complete the necessary paperwork for my position, including transferring ownership of the 230th floor from Jin to me.
They also offer to take care of moving my belongings from my private room on the 200th floor to my new personal room on the 230th floor, but I decline, insisting that I prefer to do it myself. After they tell me not to take too long and give me the keys to my new penthouse, I bid them a cordial farewell and leave the room to meet my friends so we can celebrate together. However, on the way out of the stadium...
"What are your current goals now that you have become a Floor Master?"
"Mr. Kai, our board of directors would be willing to make you a good offer for your services."
"Our martial arts school would consider it a great honor if you would come and give us a little lecture. Just a few words of encouragement in person would be incredibly encouraging."
"Kai, I love you! Please let me touch you!"
No sooner had I left the room and started my walk than I was cornered in the middle of the hallway by a horde of fangirls, interviewers, and business representatives buzzing with admiration and eager to take advantage of my position.
While I could very well use this to promote my work as a Hunter, right now I'd rather meet up with the guys and celebrate than put up with these noisy group, so I try to get away from them, and when I turn a corner while they're following me, I use my superhuman speed and Zetsu to disappear from the scene and leave them behind.
After a while of searching, I find them in a lobby of the floor eagerly awaiting for my return, and when they finally see me approaching their faces fill with emotion as they rush to greet me.
"Kai, congratulations on your promotion to Floor Master! That fight was amazing!" Gon yells.
"Yes, I was very impressed too. Especially with the creative and versatile way you used your Nen ability in the fight. It was an amazing display of skill." Zushi says.
"This ability has proven so strong and useful because I thought carefully about what I wanted to achieve with my Nen power before creating it using the categories I was proficient in. Keep this in mind the three of you when you create your own abilities." I say to Gon, Killua and Zushi.
"The three of them? And what about me? I haven't created my own Nen ability either." Ponzu says feeling somewhat left out.
"You don't need to worry. I've already thought of the most appropriate Nen ability for you." I reassure her.
"Seriously? Then, tell me what it is so I can start developing it." Ponzu asks very excitedly to know.
"Not yet. While I'm with you, I want you to continue training to develop your physical abilities and improve your use of advanced aura applications in combat. When the time comes for us to part ways again, I'll tell you which ability I think would be best for you." I tell her bluntly, much to Ponzu disappointment.
"I disagree with that. Nen, by its very nature, is highly conditioned by the characteristics and idiosyncrasies of each individual, so it's best for each person to create their abilities based on their own preferences and goals. Trying to have someone else teach them a specific ability, even if it's from a competent mentor, can be truly detrimental in the long run." Wing states in a rather serious tone.
"You shouldn't worry about that, Wing. The boss really has a knack for these things. My Nen ability, in fact, was conceived by him." Nicholas says trying to defend me.
"Seriously? Kai came up with your ability?" Gon asks surprised.
"He asked me to think about what kind of power I wanted to develop, and as soon as I told him he came up with the "Ultimate Programming" ability for me, and I must say I'm pretty satisfied with it." Nicholas says.
"Still, you may find yourself in a situation in the future where you think it would have been better to develop a different type of Nen ability instead of the one Kai recommended. When that happens, you may regret having chosen to follow Kai's idea instead of thinking for yourself." Wing tries to argue.
"Honestly, I don't think so." I say this time calling his attention. "The ability I came up for Nicholas covers far more circumstances than he's let on. Right now, he's too weak and inexperienced to fully utilize his potential, but in the future, the range of things he'll be able to do will cover almost everything he could possibly need and accomplish with his abilities and categories, so I'm pretty sure he won't regret it."
"I agree with you, boss! I love the ability you designed for me! I know I'll never regret following your idea!" Nicholas yells full of devotion and conviction.
"You see, Wing? That's the difference between you and me as Nen masters: I'm willing to take risks and push beyond my comfort zone, while you're cautious and stick to the basics. That's why I'm more suited to give advanced classes, while you specialize in introducing people who don't even know Nen." I say with a certain haughtiness, making Wing irked by my arrogance.
"Considering what we've seen in this fight, I believe that statement is true. I'm actually surprised you had that power hidden in you the whole time. You weren't even willing to use it against me during our fight. That makes me feel somewhat offended." Killua says with a mischievous smile.
"It can't be helped. If I had gone all out in each of my fights, not only would I not have garnered the public's attention and admiration, but I also wouldn't have had any more challengers." I say this half jokingly.
"That's talking about confidence. Anyway, if you're as good at thinking of Nen abilities as Nicholas says, why don't you think of one for me? I'd like to see what you come up with for a Transmuter." Killua asks, clearly just trying to create more friction between Wing and me.
"I want one too! Your Nen abilities and Nicholas's are great! I'd also like you to think of one that fits my Enhancer category!" Gon also asks, but being honest about his request unlike Killua.
"Hold on a second! I don't have mine yet, and I'm her disciple, so it's clearly up to me to go first!" Ponzu replies, looking somewhat possessive.
"Alright, everyone calm down for a moment. You don't have..." I stop talking to try to calm the charged atmosphere when I become alert and look away.
"What happens?" Ponzu asks looking at me.
"Looks like we've got company." I state as two individuals suddenly approach from the hallway towards the lobby.
One is a well-dressed elderly man with grey hair and pale skin exuding an aura of wealth and sophistication, while the other is a middle age man with black, slicked-back hair, a black beard which is thicker on the chin and is accompanied by thin mustache, gray eyebrows in direct contrast to the color of the rest of his hair, and a confident, focused demeanor worthy of a military professional.
The former is Battera, the multi-billionaire which has been focusing on the mass hoarding of the video game Greed Island, and the latter is Tsezguerra, a Single-Star Jackpot Hunter who has been hired by him together with his group to complete it and get the cards Battera needs to save his lover (although neither he nor anyone else knows about this).
'It seems that Teradein has fulfilled what was agreed. He's earned some points from me with this. Even so, I will continue to keep my guard up with him, just in case.' I think as the two newcomers stop a couple of meters from our group.
